Daytona 500 stopped for rain after 11 laps with President Trump in attendance
The 67th Daytona 500 is under a red flag for a rain delay after 11 laps at Daytona International Speedway
Austin Cindric, the 2022 Daytona 500 winner who started second, was leading ahead of Ty Dillon, pole-sitter Chase Briscoe, Joey Logano and Bubba Wallace.
The caution waved on Lap 10 at 2:14 p.m. for rain in Turn 2, and the 41 cars were brought to the pits a few minutes later.
The start of the race was moved up more than an hour Thursday because of a forecast for inclement weather.
The green flag waved at 2:06 p.m. after prerace ceremonies that included President Donald Trump addressing the 41 drivers over the team radios from the presidential limousine known as 'The Beast,' which took part in the pace laps ahead of the field.
President Trump arrived at Daytona International Speedway at around 1:30 p.m. and was scheduled to return to his resort in Palm Beach, Florida, midway through the race. He is the second sitting president to attend the Daytona 500, having attended in a 2020 race (which also was delayed by rain and eventually postponed to Monday).
President George W. Bush gave the command to start engines at the 2004 Daytona 500.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. revealed that his father and NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt Sr.'s closet has been left untouched since he passed away on 18 February 2001 during the Daytona 500. Dale Jr. spoke about the items that are left in there, never opened for 24 years. Dale Sr. won a staggering seven NASCAR championships in his storied stock car racing career. However, at age 49, he suffered a fatal crash in the last lap of the Daytona 500. The event shocked the world of NASCAR and played a major role in improving the sport's safety standards. The personal items of Dale Sr. have been left alone in his closet since his passing, only to be spoken about after more than two decades by Dale Jr. on the Dale Jr. Download. He said: "He had this closet where nobody's been in this closet since the day he passed away. There's a lot of stuff in there. If I could go to a space to take a look at what is physically there, that's absolutely no question where I'd go. There's all kinds of stuff in that room that you know, old racing uniforms and his gun collection, and all types of stuff like that." Dale Earnhardt Jr. speaks to the media on the red carpet for the NASCAR on Prime Presents The World Premiere of Earnhardt at The Revelry on May 22, 2025 in Charlotte, North Carolina. Dale Earnhardt Jr. speaks to the media on the red carpet for the NASCAR on Prime Presents The World Premiere of Earnhardt at The Revelry on May 22, 2025 in Charlotte, North NASCAR and Prime Video Adding to the list of things, he said: "It's old uniforms; mine and Kelley's military uniforms are in this closet. Some of our stuff's in there. I think Kelley stuck some of her old racing uniforms in there as well. And so it'd be cool to see some of that stuff, it's not pressing, but uh, maybe one day." Dale Jr. recently spoke about his upcoming show 'Becoming Earnhardt 1980,' which features Dale Sr.'s 1980 NASCAR Cup Series championship battle. Newsweek Sports reported Dale Jr.'s comments on the show. He said: "It's just a show that I started. I got these two scrapbooks from my aunt when my grandmother passed away. We went to her house, we were kind of looking through some of the things - photos and all kinds of stuff - and there were these two scrapbooks that my aunt made. "They are literally, one is from the '79 year and one's from the '80 Cup season. She cut out every article and everything. So right there in front of me, man, is basically this kind of book of, like, 'here's what happened to Dad.' "I just never really dove into that real deeply to get details about that particular couple of years when he drove for Rod Osterlund and landed his first full-time ride in NASCAR. "So we decided to make a series, Becoming Earnhardt, to detail what's in those scrapbooks and the things that we learned. It's pretty interesting."

Jeff Gordon On Hendrick Motorsports' Success This Season And New Partnership With Phorm Energy
Jeff Gordon gives his thoughts on Hendrick Motorsports' start to the season along with why they're ... More partnering with Phorm Energy. (Photo by) Jeff Gordon is obviously revered as one of the greatest NASCAR drivers of all time, but he's making an impact these days as the vice chairman of Hendrick Motorsports. The 53-year-old raced full-time for 23 years for Hendrick Motorsports and now he's part of the team that's consistently leading the top of the NASCAR Cup Series standings. Hendrick Motorsports features William Byron – who won the Daytona 500 this season for the second time – Kyle Larson, Chase Elliott and Alex Bowman. Entering this weekend's NASCAR race at Mexico City, Larson is at the top of the standings with 535 points and three wins, while Byron ranks fourth, Elliott ranks 10th and Bowman ranks 15th. That same four-driver team has been together since 2021 and they're the most well-rounded team in NASCAR today, with their drivers consistently ranking at the top of the standings. 'It's been a solid start,' says Gordon in a one-on-one interview. 'We've been going to victory lane with two of our cars winning the Daytona 500 but we've been top 10 all year long, with all four. It's been good, but we're never content with that. We've got to always ramp up and push the envelope to get better.' We're only a little more than halfway through the season, with 11 more races left in the regular season and the playoff schedule starting at the end of August in Darlington. Gordon stresses the importance of performing well in entering the stretch run of the season, which will culminate in the final race of the playoffs at Phoenix Raceway in November. 'With our new playoff system, where it comes down to 10 races in that final race in Phoenix this year, that's the goal,' says Gordon. 'You've got to constantly be improving in getting yourself in position. When those playoffs start, you're peaking, you're at your best when those last 10 races come. I feel like we have more work to do, but we're in a really good position.' Hendrick Motorsports is obviously seen as the cream of the crop when it comes to teams in NASCAR, as its the winningest team in the sports history. There are no shortage of sponsors for the team, with Hendrick Motorsports partnering with Cincinnati Incorporated, Liberty University, Axalta, Valvoline and Raptor High Heat this season for Byron's car this season. You can add another one to the list as Hendrick Motorsports is partnering with 1st Phorm's 'Phorm Energy," which will include primary sponsorship starting in the 2026 season. Phorm Energy is a new energy drink released this year as a result of Anheuser-Busch and 1st Phorm teaming up together. 1st Phorm is a nutrition and supplement company also based in Missouri, close to Anheuscer-Busch's headquarters. UFC CEO and president Dana White is also invested in the brand. The partnership will see primary sponsorship from Phorm Energy of Byron for six races during the 2026 season, which means branding on fire suits, helmets and fueler gear. It also means branding in Hendrick Motorsports' new 35,000 square-foot athletic center when it opens next season. 'What's cool about this, it's the beginning of not just a partnership, but launching this brand, and we want to be a big part of that and contribute to its success,' says Gordon of partnering with Phorm Energy. 'We think that it has endless opportunities. We look at this as a long-term partnership at Hendrick Motorsports.' Phorm Energy's "Screamin' Freedom" energy drink. Gordon details what led to the partnership between Hendrick Motorsports and 1st Phorm's Phorm Energy. 'We have incredible athletes, not just behind the wheels of the cars, drivers, but our pit crews, and we've been really looking for the right partner at Hendrick Motorsports that really fits well with our brand,' says Gordon. "Ford came on for our friendship with Brendan Whitworth (Anheuser-Bush CEO) and we've been trying to figure out what's a good way where we can get to do a good partnership. 'He calls me one day, and says, 'I think I got the one here,' and as soon as you start hearing about it it's like, 'This is the perfect fit for us,'" Gordon continues to say. "It's about how our athletes train with purpose, and that's exactly what 1st Phorm is all about. It's obviously exciting partnering with a company like Anheuser-Busch and 1st Phorm that's going to really take this brand to another level, and we're excited to be part of that.' A big part of the partnership is not just putting the drivers at the forefront, it's also about showcasing the pit crews and their efforts behind the scenes. 'Our athletes, you're going to see more and more about that storyline coming out with behind the scenes, of the discipline that they have, the commitment that they have, the work ethic if they have what it takes to train and be at the elite level,' says Gordon. "From a pit crew standpoint, these guys have college football backgrounds, professional football backgrounds, and they're a critical part of our success on the racetrack. 'Finding the right partner that is going to work with them and help them be even better and be a part of the branding behind that is super exciting,' Gordon continues to say. 'I love our athletes, I love their personalities, and they're super pumped about having Phorm Energy on board.' The 27-year-old Byron has finished in third in the final NASCAR Cup Series standings in back-to-back years. Gordon says he and Hendrick Motorsports is 'heavily invested' in his future and calls him an 'incredible' race car driver. 'Incredible race car driver, champion from the XFINITY series, and ever since he came to Hendrick, the talent is shown here,' says Gordon. 'He's got a great team surrounding him as well, two-time Daytona 500 champion. He's been gaining the points this year. This guy has a long career, we just signed him to a new contract for four more years after this. Obviously we are heavily invested in his future, and I think he's a future champion. If not this year, in the coming years.'

Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. NASCAR champion Martin Truex Jr.'s private European-style home in North Carolina just got listed for a massive price tag of $7.5 million. With an area of 14,000 square feet (approx.), located on a property spanning 4.82 acres on Lake Norman, there's a lot more on offer than just a fancy house. Truex Jr. parted ways with full-time NASCAR racing after the 2024 season, having secured a Cup Series championship in 2017 and two Xfinity Series championships in 2004 and 2005. The 44-year-old driver has switched to part-time racing in the stock car series. His last appearance in NASCAR was at the 2025 Daytona 500, where he raced for Tricon Garage in the No. 56 Toyota. The property on sale features 5 bedrooms and 9 baths, and is located on the waterfront. Being a racing driver, the house sports a garage for working on the cars, in addition to a large parking space to store those prized possessions. Austin Cindric, driver of the #2 Discount Tire Ford and Corey LaJoie, driver of the #01 Take 5 Oil Change/DuraMax Ford lead the field during the NASCAR Cup Series Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway... MoreIn addition, the property screams luxury with a spa bath, a 2-story closet, and a lavish living room. Indoor highlights include a gym, theater, custom bar, and game area, while a waterfall with an infinity pool and a private dock with a boat lift make up the exterior attractions. The estate has been listed on Zillow, which states all that is on offer: "Home to NASCAR champion Martin Truex Jr., this private European-style estate on Lake Norman offers over 14,000 sq ft of luxury living on almost 5 gated, waterfront acres. A tree-lined drive leads to a stunning main house, carriage house with guest apartment, and expansive workshop/garage. "The main home features a grand living room with soaring ceilings and lake views, a chef's kitchen, formal dining, and a main-level primary suite with a spa bath and 2-story closet. Upstairs offers en-suite guest rooms and a second office with a loft. The finished basement includes a custom bar, theater, gym, and game area. Outside, enjoy a resort-style infinity pool, waterfall, fire pit, and private dock with boat lift. "A detached garage with finished space above adds even more flexibility. This home is perfect for a car enthusiast, with ample amount of garage spaces and workshop. An entertainer's dream and rare waterfront offering—experience luxury lake living with a championship pedigree." Kyle Busch also recently listed his 15,000-square-foot barndominium for $4.5 million. Newsweek Sports reported the listing earlier this month, which would lure any car or racing enthusiast, considering the underground garages and fuel storage on offer. Busch listed the property for sale since he didn't have enough time to spend there. He wrote: "We love this piece of land and the amazing barndominium but right now we just don't have enough time to spend there. We can't wait for someone to love it as much as we have!"
