The King welcomed recipients of The King's Awards for Enterprise at Windsor Castle on Thursday, and chatted to the entrepreneurs and innovators whose practices and products have earned them the prestigious recognition.
Among the award winners was Lisa Kay, the creator and chief executive of Sole Bliss, whose products Camilla has frequently been seen wearing at public events, and is said to love for their stylish yet comfortable design.
Ms Kay, whose business won an award in the international trade category, shook hands with Charles at the reception, and the pair exchanged a few words.
She said: 'I (told the King) that Her Royal Highness has purchased our shoes, so hopefully she finds them comfortable.
'He said, 'She like a heel that's not too narrow', so I said 'Yes, a block heel, I understand', he said: 'Yes, a block heel!'
'He said it gets harder to wear heels as you get older, and I said 'I understand'.'
Sole Bliss was launched as a 'very small' business in 2017, Ms Kay said.
Its popularity soared after Camilla was spotted wearing a pair of Sole Bliss shoes at the 2018 Royal Cornwall Show.
'A year after we launched, that was amazing,' Ms Kay said.
She added: 'Women generally just need comfort, so you're not thinking about your feet, you're thinking about where you are, what you're doing…
'It's for every job really – but especially royalty.'
Julia Roberts, Dame Helen Mirren, and Olivia Colman are among the celebrities who were also seen wearing Sole Bliss at public events.
Asked how she felt about receiving the King's Award for Enterprise, Ms Kay said: 'It just means the world.
'It's so exciting, you can see I'm very overwhelmed,' she added, laughing and fanning her face with her hand.
Ms Kay was also praised by Dame Annabel Whitehead, a courtier and former lady-in-waiting to the late Queen Elizabeth II, who walked up to her during the reception and said: 'We all love you here.'
Also at the event were the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, the Duke of Gloucester, and the Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Technology Peter Kyle.
The awards recognise outstanding achievements by UK firms in the categories of innovation, international trade, sustainable development and promoting opportunity through social mobility.
They are the most prestigious business awards in the UK, with recipients recognised as being among the best of British businesses.
Some 197 businesses received awards across the four categories and can now use The King's Awards emblem for the next five years on their products and to promote their services.
The viral cuddly toys company Jellycat was also among the winners, with production director Jack Gatacre describing the reward as 'a great honour'.
'We're very happy that people do love our brand,' Mr Gatacre added.
The Prince and Princess of Wales were gifted two Jellycat plushies during a royal garden party at Buckingham Palace last month.
Seeing the toys, which were in the shapes of a pickled onion and a lemon tart, William said: 'These are like gold dust. My children go crazy for these things. This is a children's currency.'
Asked how he felt knowing that George, Louis, and Charlotte love Jellycat plushies, Mr Gatacre said: 'It delights me, it delights everybody at Jellycat that we can make people happy across the world.'
Previously known as The Queen's Award for Enterprise, this is the 59th year of the Awards and the third year recipients received a King's Awards for Enterprise following the scheme's name change.

David Beckham receives knighthood in King Charles' birthday honors list for services to sport

LONDON — British soccer legend David Beckham, a sporting icon and one of the world's most recognizable faces, has received a knighthood from King Charles III for services to sport and charity, Buckingham Palace announced on Friday. The award, the highest Britain's antiquated honors system can bestow, seems inevitable given Beckham's success as a player and his contribution to the country's culture. For years, Britons have wondered how he has not already been elevated to Sir David. He gets the "gong," as it's known in British parlance, as part of the king's birthday honors list, which rewards notable people from across British society. The move also means his famous wife, Spice Girl-turned-fashion mogul Victoria, will now be known as Lady Beckham. Their marriage in 1999 made them Britain's most famous couple and a near permanent fixture in tabloid newspapers and magazines, an obsession that has lasted into the age of social media. Beckham, 50, rose from an unremarkable east London upbringing to reach sporting glory with his beloved Manchester United, before going on to star for several of Europe's elite teams. He played more than 100 games for the English men's national team, many as captain, and scored at three World Cups. He was part of the famous "Class of 92," a supremely talented group of young players who signed professional deals in 1992 and went on to form the basis of United's imperial phase of dominance in the 1990s and early 2000s. This culminated in the club winning an unprecedented "treble" of titles in 1999: the Premier League, the European Champions League, and the English FA Cup, under manager Alex Ferguson. Beckham won 19 major trophies in his career and became the first English player to win major titles in four different countries. An elegant player, Beckham's intelligence made up for his lack of pace and trickery. He was famous for his long passes that opened up defenses and for devastating free kicks, which, according to former teammates, he spent countless hours perfecting. His career took him to the United States in 2007, where he played for the LA Galaxy and helped to build soccer's profile in the country. Beckham has been an ambassador for Unicef, the United Nations' children's fund, since 2005. Ten years later, the organization launched a fund in his name. Beckham's post-playing career was shaped in part by media entrepreneur Simon Fuller, formerly manager of the Spice Girls. Fuller was instrumental in putting a clause in his contract that would give him a stake in an MLS franchise for $25 million when he finished playing. As a result, he is now president and co-owner of the Inter Miami MLS franchise, currently home to Argentine legend Lionel Messi, who is regarded as one of the greatest players in the sport's history. Beckham has maintained a higher profile than any footballer of his generation. From waiting for hours in the miles-long line to see Queen Elizabeth's coffin (apparently without asking for special access) in 2022 to a four-part Emmy-winning docuseries on Netflix last year, his star profile remains huge. In 2017, it looked like a knighthood was a long way off when leaked emails allegedly written by Beckham were highly critical of the honors system. A spokesperson for the Beckhams said at the time that the stolen emails were "hacked and doctored." While awarded by the king, or at least a senior royal, honors are actually decided by committees of politicians, civil servants, and leading business figures. The overall process is managed by 10 Downing Street, the private office and residence of Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who received a knighthood in 2014.

British teenage star Tiah Ayton opens up on embracing Katie Taylor comparisons and the bold social media message she sent to Eddie Hearn ahead of her professional debut

Tiah Ayton has been touted as British boxing's next big thing, and the comparisons to Irish icon Katie Taylor aren't just based on talent. Just like Taylor, Ayton took her shot by messaging promoter Eddie Hearn on Instagram, long before she was signed by Matchroom. Now, after years of waiting, the teenage prodigy is finally getting her chance - making her debut on June 21 after signing a multi-year deal with the promotional company. 'I literally messaged Eddie and said, "One day, can you sign me?"' Ayton laughs during her interview with Mail Sport. 'He never got back to me… but now I'm signed with him.' The full-circle moment came after Hearn watched her spar with former featherweight world champion Skye Nicolson. The Matchroom promoter tagged Ayton in a picture on Instagram, causing her message to resurface in their chat. 'He tagged me and saw the old message. It was funny. From me just asking him to sign me to now being signed.' The 18-year-old will make her highly anticipated professional debut on June 21 in Birmingham, stepping into the ring for the first time without a head guard - something she admits will be a new experience. 'I haven't sparred without one yet,' she says. 'But I'll have too much adrenaline to feel the punches anyway, so I'll be fine. I'm looking forward to it.' Ayton's journey to this moment has been anything but conventional. Starting out in kickboxing at just six years old, thanks to a childhood rivalry with her sister, she racked up over 300 fights before the age of 12. From there, she transitioned into Muay Thai, MMA, and eventually, boxing - admitting it was hard to stop herself from kicking during her first couple of sessions. 'At first it was hard,' she says of the switch. 'I kept thinking about kicking people when I was sparring. I had to tell myself, 'Tiah, this is boxing now—just punches.' But once I got into it, I started to love it.' It's not just Ayton's raw talent that's turning heads, it's her mindset. Undefeated as an amateur and with only three losses across all her combat sport ventures (the last one coming at age eight), she thrives under pressure. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Matchroom Boxing (@matchroomboxing) View this post on Instagram A post shared by tiah-mai (@tiahayton) 'I've always had pressure on me,' she says. 'Everyone's always thinking, "When's Tiah going to lose?" But I think only great people have pressure. I thrive off it.' To Ayton, the Katie Taylor comparisons aren't just hype, she embraces them. 'I like being compared to her. If I do half of what she's done, I'd be happy. She's amazing for women's boxing, and she's proved we can box just as well.' Her goals are crystal clear: she wants to fight at Madison Square Garden and headline at Ashton Gate in her hometown of Bristol. The 18-year-old is also aiming for undisputed world champion status and hopes to become a multi-weight titleholder. Off the canvas, Ayton enjoys downtime with her family, walking her Dogue de Bordeaux, and watching anime - something she plans to immortalise with a full tattoo sleeve. 'I guess that might surprise people,' she says, laughing. 'But I've got anime tattoos already, so I'm committed!' But at the heart of it all, Ayton is driven by a love for performing. 'I want fans to be entertained. I want them to enjoy watching me fight and enjoy the journey. I'm only young, I'll be around a long time.' That journey starts next weekend in Birmingham. And if her trajectory mirrors anything like Katie Taylor's, boxing fans better buckle up.
