Toby Freeman has embarked on a number of marathons to raise money for the Robin Cancer Trust - and his truly unique attire has caught the attention of members of the public along the way
A man dressed as a massive pair of testicles is running a number of marathons across the UK to raise awareness of the cancer. Toby Freeman founded the Robin Cancer Trust in tribute of his brother, Robin, who was tragically diagnosed with late-stage testicular cancer and passed away at the age of 24 in December 2011.
Now, the 35-year-old from Colchester is dedicated to raising awareness of the condition and helping those who find themselves diagnosed with it. Speaking exclusively to the Mirror about the foundation of the Robin Cancer Trust, Toby said: "Going back to 2011, my brother was diagnosed with a really rare form of testicular cancer.

"And my brother was fit, healthy, active - didn't smoke, barely drank and yet he was diagnosed with late-stage testicular cancer. Long, long, long story short, we lost Rob 10 months later and we decided that if someone who was as health conscious and fit and active as Rob could be diagnosed, that it could happen to anyone.

"So we really wanted to focus on awareness education and support so that no other family went through what we did basically, so that was the idea for the Robin Cancer Trust. Obviously with these things, you start with family and friends and it's about Rob's story, and people are involved because they love you and they want to support that.
"Then as it's grown over the years, more people have been touched by the mission, by the story, and it's become about everyone else. All the people that we've helped, the community that we've built, all the people out there that we've supported."
In 2025, Toby has made it his mission to take part in a series of running challenges, not only to raise money for the trust but to also hold serious conversations with youngsters on the importance of screening for cancer. And his unique costume in which he has been running has certainly helped him to spark up said talks.
He added: "I'm a runner, I'm not a runner on this level by any means, you know? I can run and I wanted to do some challenges this year, and then I said if I'm gonna do this I need to lead by example. I'm always talking about raising awareness, reducing embarrassment, saving lives, and I thought the best way to do that is all of our campaigns run through humour, right?

"We think the best way to engage a young audience is to make them laugh. That lowers everyone's barriers and then we can have these really important health conversations. So I thought what would I think would be absolutely hilarious would be running around like a giant ball bag.
"Thankfully my team were on board with this and it's grown into this challenge - this 500 kilometre challenge. I'm trying to do events all over the UK, not just where I'm based. You know, I've done Brighton. I've done London. I'm doing the Hadrian's Wall challenge.
"I'm doing an ultramarathon after that in September. I'm trying to do races all across the UK because this is something we need to get out. Absolutely everywhere. But yeah, the idea just came about was how can we make this as big and bold and silly with a really important message behind it as well?

"And that's been a really cool thing seeing people get that. There's the initial hilarity of, 'What is this person doing? Oh, I actually get why they're doing this.' That's really important, and I think there's a real need for guys especially to have these sorts of conversations."

In terms of reception, Toby added that people have reacted to seeing the suit in overwhelmingly positive fashion. He said: "People love it. I was lucky enough to run Brighton and London, and not only the running community absolutely love it because I think they respect how hard it is running in the costume, but they get the message as well.
"But the crowds have been unbelievable. People just love it and it's exactly what you said, it's the shock value. It's going from, 'What am I witnessing right now?' to immediately understanding the why. Because you know, it's quite obvious that it's for testicular cancer as well.
"So yeah, you get the cheers on both sides of respect for you doing something silly and challenging, but also why you're doing it, and it's been received so amazingly. The races have all been really great. London and Brighton both supported it. Gave me a platform to talk about it."

Dubbed 'My Big Ballsy Challenge', Toby has already completed marathons in London and Brighton, and his next challenge is running Hadrian's Wall - the 73-mile long structure that runs between Newcastle upon Tyne and Bowness-on-Solway - between June 12 and June 15.
Thanks to his endeavours thus far, Toby has managed to raise £15,845 of his £240,000 target for his charity, while also engaging in countless conversations with members of the public regarding testicular cancer. However, it's not the first campaign that Toby has launched which has been a little out there.

In 2019, Toby sent a pair of prosthetic testicles into space via a hydrogen balloon in support of Testicular Cancer Awareness Month. In 2021, he invited 250 men to check their testicles simultaneously via a Zoom call in an attempt to break a world record, and the following year, he helped display the UK's largest pair of testicles on I Love MCR's flagship Manchester billboard.
Speaking about his past endeavours, Toby said: "Oh, yeah, we've done a fair few things. First one that comes to mind is we sent a pair of balls into space. We called it space balls, the campaign. That was to launch Testicular Cancer Awareness Month. That must have been pre-pandemic.
"Seems like a long time ago. But yeah, we worked with the company to send a pair of balls into space. There's beautiful shots of like, the world curvature below with a pair of balls dangling above it. So that was really good fun.
"We worked with I Love MCR in Manchester to create the world's biggest pair of balls on a digital billboard, so that was really good fun as well. Again, that was Testicular Cancer Awareness Month and then during the pandemic we brought… it was 250 guys from 25 different countries on five continents on Zoom to all check their balls at the same time.
"So it was an unofficial world record because we couldn't get an official world record for it. But I hold on to that. I say no one else has brought that many people together to check their balls at one time. So that was yeah… we've done lots of things to be honest."
Toby Freeman will run Hadrian's Wall between June 12 and June 15 as part of his Big Ballsy Challenge. You can find out more about his cause and donate on his Give As You Live page here. You can also find out more about the work of the Robin Cancer Trust here.

Bobby Brazier's desperation over brother Freddy's latest move

As Freddy Brazier's reported feud with his dad Jeff is thought to be rumbling on, a source has revealed what his older brother, EastEnders star Bobby, thinks of the family divide. The alleged feud between Freddy Brazier and his dad Jeff has left Freddy's older brother, EastEnders star Bobby, sad and praying for his family to be reunited, a source has told Mirror. The brothers – the sons of late TV personality Jade Goody – previously enjoyed a tight-knit relationship with each other and their TV presenter father, but in recent weeks 20-year-old Freddy has reportedly been living with his maternal grandmother, Jackiey Budden. The aspiring model was allegedly seen 'smoking a joint' with Jackiey, 68, who has a history of drug abuse. ‌ 'Bobby wants the family to be reunited, he hates the divide. Bobby and Freddy both love their grandmother very much, she's Jade's mum and a connection they have to her – it's all the more poignant and sad given that it was their mum's birthday on 5 June,' claims the source. ‌ The source continues, 'But Jeff is livid over the whole thing. He feels that he has brought the kids up single-handedly and Jackiey is a bad influence. Drugs are not something Jeff wants the boys around and he's not happy with the whole situation.' Pictures of Jackiey and Freddy together surfaced just days before what would have been Jade's 44th birthday. Jade, who was a contestant on Big Brother in 2002, tragically passed away seven years later, aged 27, following a battle with cervical cancer. She was in a relationship with Jeff for two years up until their 2004 split, with Jeff going on to raise their two children following her death. However, Jeff has had a long-standing feud with Jade's mum. Previously he said that during his sons' childhoods, Jackiey would spoil them with 'unsuitable' gifts, claiming she once bought Freddy a hamster without checking with him, and supplied the boys with mobile phones during a visit. 'I just wish we could work together a little better,' he said in 2012. However, the relationship later broke down completely and Jackiey didn't see her grandsons for a period of time, before regular visits began again. 'As she settled in herself, the boys kept a lot of contact with her and at the moment she's very helpful and very prominent in their lives,' said Jeff in 2014. ‌ Things have once again turned sour between the pair, however, with Jackiey claiming in 2023 that she'd had to buy her own ticket for the National Television Awards where Bobby was being honoured with the Rising Star award. Asked about her thoughts on Jeff by reporters, Jackiey bluntly retorted, 'He's a c**t.' She added, 'He has been one for f**king nine years.' Now, more than a decade after Jade's tragic death, the source claims a family feud is the last thing she would have wanted. ‌ 'Jade wouldn't have wanted a divide within the family, it's the last thing she saw for them. This time of year is already difficult enough without any extra drama. The boys always remember Jade together and it's not nice doing it with drama over their heads.' In what appeared to be another snub to the family, Freddy is thought to have skipped his older brother's 22nd birthday last week. As the actor marked the milestone with loved ones including dad Jeff, 46, and stepmum Kate, his sibling was noticeably absent. However, Freddy did acknowledge Bobby's birthday on Instagram. And last Friday, days after he was spotted smoking what appeared to be a joint with Jackiey, Freddy revealed he was checking into rehab. He wrote in his Instagram Stories that he was going to be 'cutting down' as he headed to a rehab centre in Marbella. ‌ 'I've been smoking from the age of 12 and it's time to stop,' he wrote. 'It was a bad coping mechanism that turned into an addiction – something I relied on and something that made me feel sane and somewhat OK.' Continuing that he had found a rehab centre where he could heal, Freddy added, 'I want to be clean so I can live life happily and have healthy relationships with people and be there for all of my family rather than feeling like I'm in the middle and have to choose a side. I haven't been able to feel love properly as I have never loved myself and it starts now. I want to play football and take up boxing. I want to be happy and be in a healthy relationship and have a healthy relationship with my Nana and my father.' READ MORE: Susanna Reid stuns in colourful summer dress from Boden that's now 30% off Explaining that Bobby and Freddy remain close, but are struggling with the family dynamic, the source claims, 'It's difficult for Bobby and for Freddy as brothers, especially considering Bobby's success in recent years with Strictly and EastEnders – Freddy feels like he's fallen into the background. ‌ 'It's a case of him rebelling against it all. But they are really close as siblings and Bobby wants more than anything for his brother to come home and for the family to be back together again. He hates seeing his dad so anxious.' While Bobby has carved out a successful TV career, Freddy's profile is also on the rise. He describes himself as a 'model and TV personality' and appeared on Celebrity Race Across The World alongside Jeff. ‌ On the show, Freddy and Jeff's close relationship was clear for viewers to see, but it appears that things with Jackiey could be jeopardising that. Jeff has reportedly taken legal action in a bid to prevent Jackiey from seeing Freddy, citing concerns over his wellbeing. However, it has been claimed that the move has backfired on Jeff, with a source claiming recently, 'Jeff was never going to keep Freddy away from his nanny for very long – they've always had a strong bond. Jeff may hate her for all sorts of reasons going back many years, but Freddy loves her very much.' Meanwhile, our source maintains that Bobby is stuck between a rock and a hard place when it comes to his dad, brother and grandmother. 'Both the boys love Jackiey and have a close relationship with her, but Freddy is closer to her. He loves going to her flat and having time together. Bobby is happy to stay home with his dad and respect his wishes, but Freddy doesn't feel the same way, so Bobby feels stuck in the middle. He wants them all to be a family.'

'I found the perfect 'blonzing' product for summer that rivals rhode'

'Blonzers' are on the rise for summer, and Mirror's shopping writer Grace tested out Refy's newest blush drop to see how it looked on the skin Popular beauty brand REFY is one of our favourites over here at the Mirror. From the popular Lip Sculpt to the Lash Sculpt mascara (loved by Molly-Mae by the way) and my personal favourite, the Brow Tint, Refy products never miss. And the brand has just extended its Cream Blush range with two new shades that are perfect for summer. The shades included are Rust, a deep, warm-toned burnt orange and Plum, a cool-toned deep berry. Thanks to Hailey Bieber sparking the berry-toned make-up trend, and her popular Toasted Teddy Pocket Blush from rhode, we're not surprised to see that orange and burgundy blush shades are on the rise. I'm a huge fan of orange and brown toned blushers that give that popular 'blonzed' or sunburnt look so I was so excited to see that REFY had launched these new shades. Refy Rust Cream Blush Review What I love most about REFY blushes is the smooth, buildable texture that melts into the skin and creates that natural sun-kissed flush, and this new Rust shade is no exception. I hate cream blushes that require you to work really hard with the formula, and luckily this blush is quite literally fool-proof. It glides efffortlessly onto the skin, especially when using the Refy Duo Brush to apply it. And priced at £16, it's a really wallet-friendly blush that only requries a little bit each time you use it. Creating that beautiful 'sunburnt' blush look that I aim for everytime I do my make-up, and this blush is really the shade of the summer. Although I've not personally tested out rhode's Toasted Teddy, it has that similar burnt terracotta tone that's so popular at the moment. I'm not the only fan of these cream blushes with Molly Mae raving about the shade Malaya. This is a cool dusty pink with neutral undertones, perfect if you like using a pink blush that's not overly bubblegum or coral pink and has more of a mauve-y depth to the shade. A few of my other favourite blushes that have that similar bronze-y feel includes the Morphe Cheek Thrills Multi Finish Face Trio Palette, a fairly new product but already a staple in my make-up bag and priced at £19. Plus the Nudestix Nudies All Over Face Matte Bronze, priced at £31.50, which I used as a blush rather than a bronzer.

Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle's furious row that 'ripped the monarchy to pieces'

Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton were said to have had a furious row during a clear-the-air meeting in 2018 A Royal expert has described a crucial meeting between Prince William, Prince Harry, Kate and Meghan as an event that "ripped the monarchy to pieces". The explosive encounter reportedly took place in June 2018 when the Prince and Princess of Wales sat down with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex amid rising tensions after Harry and Meghan's wedding. The situation escalated post-ceremony, as recounted in Prince Harry's memoir 'Spare', who cited early turbulence involving his wife and his sister-in-law. He detailed a dispute concerning bridesmaid dresses prior to his wedding which purportedly left Meghan in tears, mentioning that Kate "grimaced" when Meghan used her lip gloss. ‌ In an effort to resolve matters, both couples convened for a candid discussion after the Sussexes returned from their honeymoon. The atmosphere during the chat reportedly grew so fraught that it caused physical signs of distress in the Princess of Wales. ‌ According to Harry's depiction in 'Spare', the intense air-clearing session at Kensington Palace saw Kate demand an apology from Meghan while clenching a leather sofa, which saw her "fingers turn white". Harry detailed in 'Spare' that Kate's request stemmed from a comment Meghan made about her pregnancy hormones, referring to it as "baby brain". Meghan apparently offered her apologies, justifying the contentious remark as commonplace amongst her circle of friends, reports the Mirror. The situation escalated when Harry alleged that William "pointed a finger at Meg", and reportedly admonished: "Well, it's rude, Meghan. These things are not done here." Harry claims Meghan retorted: "If you don't mind, keep your finger out of my face." ‌ In the new Channel 5 documentary 'Meghan vs Kate: The Meeting That Changed the Monarchy', Royal commentators suggest this encounter was pivotal for the Sussexes, setting in motion their eventual departure from Royal duties. Richard Kay of the Daily Mail posited that this was the moment "the seed of Megxit was sewn", while his colleague Sarah Hewson reflected: "Had that meeting been a success, had they been able to put their differences aside, things would have been very different indeed." Newsweek's chief Royal correspondent Jack Royston commented: "If only they'd listened. If Meghan had listened to what was being said to her, she could have changed way back in 2018. ‌ "And even if they had still quit the monarchy, they could have saved themselves so much pain and so much conflict." He went on: "What happened in that room back in June 2018 was the defining element of the relationship between the two couples that ripped the monarchy to pieces." ‌ Valentine Low, a noted Royal author, also remarked: "They had pathetic little differences that should have been sorted out in two minutes. But it helped fuel the flames." Harry's candid reflections in his memoir 'Spare' come as Meghan shared her experiences with the royals on their Netflix series. Recounting their earliest encounters, she expressed surprise at the private formality of the Royal family members. ‌ In the second instalment of their six-part Netflix documentary, 'Harry and Meghan', the Duchess discussed her first impressions of her brother-in-law and wife Kate. "When Will and Kate came over, and I met her for the first time, they came over for dinner, I remember I was in ripped jeans and I was barefoot," Meghan explained. ‌ "I was a hugger. I've always been a hugger, I didn't realise that that is really jarring for a lot of Brits." The mother-of-two elaborated further on the Royal customs saying: "I guess I started to understand very quickly that the formality on the outside carried through on the inside. "There is a forward-facing way of being, and then you close the door and go 'You can relax now', but that formality carries over on both sides. And that was surprising to me."
