JK: Jaish terrorists killed in Udhampur encounter
Ahead of Amarnath Yatra, a terrorist of Jaish -e-Mohammad (JeM) outfit was gunned down during an encounter between security forces and four terrorists in the Basantgarh area of Udhampur district on Thursday morning, army's Nagrota-based White Knight Corps stated on X. Earlier, a senior police officer said that acting on an intelligence input, a joint operation was launched by the police and the army in Basantgarh during which they came under intense fire, triggering a gunfight. Additional reinforcements were rushed to the area.
Jammu zone IGP Bhim Sen Tuti said the encounter took place around 8:30 am. 'The search operation is still on. The situation will become clear after the weather clears. It is a group of four terrorists. We had been monitoring these terrorists for the past year.'
The IGP further said that adequate security arrangements were made for the ensuing Amarnath Yatra. 'This time around, we have got more paramilitary companies from the Centre,' he said.
Tuti further informed that this year there shall be road opening parties on the Pathankot -Jammu national highway as well. The Jammu IGP also requested Amarnath pilgrims, who wish to start their Yatra from Jammu, to join only the official convoys for a safe and secure journey from Yatri Niwas base camp at Bhagwati Nagar. 'Such pilgrims should avoid independent travel,' he added.
The Basantgarh encounter comes at a time when hardly a week has left for the annual Amarnath pilgrimage that begins July 3. The first batch of pilgrims from Jammu will be flagged off on July 2 for Pahalgam and Baltal-based camps.
Meanwhile, security forces in Udhampur conducted a mock drill on Jammu-Srinagar national highway (NH 44) in view of the pilgrimage that has always remained a 'high value' target for the Pakistani terrorists.
On April 22, Pakistani terrorists had attacked unarmed tourists in Pahalgam, leaving 26 dead and scores injured. The attack had compelled India to launch Operation Sindoor on May 6, resulting in strikes on terror camps.
Consequently, India and Pakistan indulged in a conflict from May 7 to 10 before US president Donald Trump claimed he enforced a ceasefire between the two nuclear-armed countries.

Terror group Babbar Khalsa International's 3 operatives arrested in Mohali
An intellgence operation led by Punjab Police's State Special Operation Cell (SSOC), successfully busted a terror module of the Pakistan's ISI-backed banned outfit Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) and arrested three of its operatives, police said on Friday The SSOC arrested three associates from the module, which is being operated by Pakistan-based terrorist Harwinder Rinda, according to a statement by the Punjab DGP. Taking to X, DGP Punjab Police posted: "The group was conspiring to carry out attacks on police establishments and targeted killings in the Amritsar area. A major terror plot has been foiled, saving countless innocent lives." During the operation, two hand grenades, one Glock pistol, and ammunition were recovered. The arrested accused have been identified as Sehajpal Singh and Vikramjit Singh, both residents of Ramdas, Amritsar Rural, along with a juvenile. An FIR has been registered under the relevant sections of the BNS and Explosives Act at Police Station SSOC Mohali. Investigation is ongoing, and more arrests are expected, police said. On June 26, as part of its investigation in the Babbar Khalsa International-linked grenade attack at the residence of former Punjab Minister Manoranjan Kalia, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted a series of searches across the state as well as in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, the agency said. NIA teams carried out searches at 18 locations in the three northern states this morning, and seized various incriminating materials, including mobiles and digital devices and documents. As per the NIA, the searches were conducted at the premises of suspects linked with Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) operative Kulbir Sidhu, US-based gangster Manish alias Kaka Rana, and their nodes based in India and various other countries. Kulbir Sidhu, originally from Yamunanagar in Haryana, is currently in Germany and is a key aide of designated terrorist and BKI chief, Pakistan-based Wadhawa Singh Babbar. Sidhu is also an accused in a case related to the murder of VHP leader Vikas Prabhakar in Nangal, Punjab, in April 2024.

Stating that 'as Sanatanis' they 'were very ashamed' that their place of worship had been destroyed, one person on Friday, told reporters that Hindus in that region 'have no other place of worship.' 'We are very ashamed as Sanatanis that our place of worship has been demolished in such a way. All of us are hurt. We would want the government to build this temple at a designated place, so that Hindus can pray…This is my request to the Government,' a local, named Prasenjit Chandra Das told news wire ANI. Bangladesh Railway authorities on Thursday demolished a makeshift Durga temple in Khilkhet, citing illegal construction on railway land. Officials stated that the temple — Khilkhet Sarbojanin Shri Shri Durga Mandir — was built without permission on government property, reported ANI. The action came three days after a mob had demanded the temple's removal. Speaking to New Age, Bangladesh Railway's Dhaka divisional estate officer Md Nasir Uddin Mahmud said that a number of establishments were built on the railway's land illegally and they came to know regarding the makeshift temple on Monday, June 23, reported ANI. Minority groups formed a human chain in Bangladesh's Shahbagh on Friday to protest against the demolition of the Durga Temple. Speaking to ANI, Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council's Acting General Secretary Manindra Kumar Nath said that another protest will be held in front of the Dhaka Press Club tomorrow, June 28.
