Roquan Smith named the Ravens bounce-back candidate in 2025 despite earning All-Pro honors
Roquan Smith named the Ravens bounce-back candidate in 2025 despite earning All-Pro honors PFF revealed the bounce-back candidate for the AFC North teams and Roquan Smith was Baltimore's candidate despite earning All-Pro honors in 2024
The saying "heavy is the head that wears the crown" is a metaphorical expression, and the Ravens have several players on the roster under immense pressure. On offense, quarterback Lamar Jackson and running back Derrick Henry are expected to lead a powerful and explosive unit. On defense, Kyle Hamilton is A Swiss army knife, but Roquan Smith is the engine that powers the ship.
All four players earned All-Pro honors in 2024 and are among the best at their positions. Pro Football Focus recently revealed their bounce-back candidates for all four AFC North teams, and Smith made the list for Baltimore despite being among the league leaders in tackles and an All-Pro.
Last season, Smith played in 16 regular-season games, logging 154 tackles (81 solo), including 1.5 sacks, four pass defenses (including one interception), one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.
PFF insinuates that Smith had a down year, but the veteran linebacker was four combined tackles shy of matching his production from the 2023 campaign, according to CBS Sports. He finished the 2024 season with the fifth-most tackles in the NFL behind Zaire Franklin (173), Budda Baker (164), Robert Spillane (158), and Jamien Sherwood (158).
During the playoffs, Smith played every defensive snap, logging 13 tackles (six solo) over that span. The 2018 first-round pick has been among the league leaders in tackles since being traded by the Bears to Baltimore in October 2022.

Ramón Urías hit a two-run shot off Casey Mize (5-3) before the Orioles got going against the Tigers' bullpen. Gunnar Henderson singled in a run off Tyler Holton in the seventh. Then Cedric Mullin got the eighth started with an RBI double off Brenan Hanifee before scoring on a wild pitch. Ryan O'Hearn followed with a two-run double off Beau Brieske, before Westburg hooked Brieske's 1-0 offering around the left-field foul pole. Colt Keith provided the Tigers' run on an RBI double that struck high off the out-of-town scoreboard in right. Mize (6-2) struck out seven and walked two over 5 1/3 innings. Key moment After Keith's double cut it to 2-1, Detroit inserted Dillon Dingler to pinch hit with runners on second and third. Eflin induced Dingler into a sharp grounder to third, and Urías fired home in plenty of time for Adley Rutschman to tag out Wenceel Perez as the potential tying run. Key stat Eflin has now posted a 1.47 ERA in three career starts against the Tigers (18 1/3 IP, 3 ER). Up next Detroit's reigning AL Cy Young winner Tarik Skubal (6-2, 2.16 ERA) looks for his first consecutive wins since mid-April after allowing only one run across his last three starts (23 2/3 IP). The lefty faces Orioles right-hander Dean Kremer (5-6, 4.98), who walked a season-high four batters and allowed five runs over 5 2/3 innings in a 7-0 loss at Detroit on April 27.

Stephen A. Smith campaigns for Mark Jackson with Steve Kerr ‘piggyback' claim
The post Stephen A. Smith campaigns for Mark Jackson with Steve Kerr 'piggyback' claim appeared first on ClutchPoints. As there have been rumors around the head coaching vacancy of the New York Knicks, ESPN analyst and known fan of the team in Stephen A. Smith, gave his idea for somebody who should be considered. After the shocking news of the Knicks firing Tom Thibodeau, the team is now looking for a new voice to lead the team, with Mark Jackson being Smith's choice. Advertisement Jackson played in the NBA from 1987 to 2004, where he was drafted by New York and played there until 1992, and his only coaching stint was with the Golden State Warriors from 2011-2014. Smith would speak on 'First Take' about the time with the Warriors, where he spoke of him building the dynasty in the 2010s, which head coach Steve Kerr 'piggybacked off of that.' 'I'm gonna always mention the name Mark Jackson, because he's been away from the game for a decade as a coach,' Smith said. 'This man was responsible for building Golden State before Steve Kerr was brought in and took over and piggybacked off of that and ascended to four championships, no doubt. But Mark Jackson starred at Bishop Loughlin. Mark Jackson starred at St John's University, Mark Jackson was a rookie of the year playing for the New York Knicks, Mark Jackson was a preeminent voice on the NBA, and he knows and feels and vibes with New York.' Stephen A. Smith continues to hype up Mark Jackson for the Knicks job Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports While it has been rumored that the Knicks are also interested in Dallas Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd, Smith would continue to make the case for Jackson. He would speak about Jackson being a native of New York and how he would be the voice for the team, taking shots at owner James Dolan and president Leon Rose, saying they 'hide' from the media. Advertisement 'He's a native, so a voice for the New York Knicks, where we ain't got to worry about hearing from James Dolan, who hides from us, or Leon Rose, the president, who hides from us. Got APBs out for their a**es,' Smith said. 'We ain't got to worry about somebody like that because you got somebody like Mark Jackson, but I understand that that's pretty much, I doubt that will happen. There is no one that can question the credentials of a Jason Kidd, but you certainly can't question the credentials of a Mike Malone because he's a champion.' It remains to be seen who will be the next head coach for the Knicks, but it will no doubt come with massive expectations.
