Railway employee suspended for dereliction of duty in Yadgir
The employee, C. Mahesh, is seen in the video talking on a mobile phone call for a long time while sitting inside the counter ignoring passengers in the queue outside to get travelling tickets.
At one stage, he signalled a passenger to wait. His behaviour triggered the other passengers who urged him to stop talking and issue tickets, as they were already getting late.
Despite passengers demanding tickets, he went on speaking on his mobile phone. The video of his behaviour was circulated on social media. The general public and pro-Kannada organisations condemned the incident and demanded immediate action.
Upon verification, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager for South Central Railways of the Guntakal division N. Manoj, under whom Yadgir Railway Station falls, passed the suspension order and also ordered a disciplinary inquiry against Mahesh on the charge of dereliction of duty and talking on a mobile phone while on duty.
'We not only placed him under suspension but also have ordered a disciplinary inquiry against him,' Mr. Manoj told The Hindu over phone.
Responding to the action, district president of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike Bheemu Naik has said that it is a welcome decision. But the railway authorities should ensure that no such incident occurs again.

Allegations fly thick and fast after Dharmasthala clashes: 7 FIRs filed against local residents, journalists
The Karnataka Police registered seven FIRs hours after clashes that took place over alleged partisan media coverage of the Dharmasthala secret burial case near the town and neighbouring Ujire in the Dakshina Kannada district Wednesday evening. While four FIRs are registered at the Dharmasthala police station in connection with the assault on YouTubers, three were registered at the Belthangady police station. The clashes took place amid inspections being carried out in Dharmasthala by a Special Investigation Team, formed after a whistleblower filed a police complaint claiming that he had been forced to bury several bodies of alleged sexual assault and murder victims in the temple town. The first of the seven FIRs was based on a complaint filed by Ajay Anchan of the Kudla Rampage YouTube channel. He told The Indian Express that he was covering the visit of a TV personality to the house of a teenage college student who was allegedly raped and murdered in 2012. 'TV personality Rajath had gone to her house, and we were there to meet him. He told us that he was getting late and would meet us midway. At Pangala Cross, we stopped and took his response. As soon as it was over, some people came there and complained that I was talking about (BJP MP and secretary of the Shri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Educational Society) D Veerendra Heggade and Dharmasthala,' said Anchan. 'When I asked them to give details about the defamatory comments made by me, they turned irate. The members in the group said that their 'dhani' had asked them to break our hands and legs, and started assaulting me and others,' he added. Meanwhile, the police in a release said, 'Around 15-20 miscreants attacked the complainant, cameraman Suhas, Santosh of Sanchari Studio and Abhishek of United Media.' The police booked the accused under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for unlawful assembly and voluntarily causing hurt, among others. The second FIR was filed against residents of Dharmasthala for refusing to disperse from the spot despite directions from the police. The third was against the residents for staging a protest in front of the Dharmasthala police station without any prior permission from the authorities. Another FIR was for the alleged attack on one Pramod Kumar Shetty by a group of 30-40 people claiming to be 'supporters of Dharmasthala'. The first of the three FIRs registered at the Belthangady police station was for an alleged assault on the reporter of a Kannada news channel by supporters of a group formed to seek justice in the 2012 rape-murder case. Harish R, a reporter of Asianet Suvarna News, claimed that activists Girish Mattannavar and Mahesh Shetty, YouTuber Sameer MD, Jayanth T and several other unidentified people attacked him when he went to a hospital to cover the attack on YouTubers. The group allegedly assaulted the reporter after recognising the logo of his channel. They punched him in the face and shoved him around, according to the FIR. A counter FIR at the station alleged that the reporter had hurled abuse at the activists and supporters of the YouTubers who were allegedly assaulted near Dharmasthala. The FIR named Asianet Suvarna News anchor Ajit Hanumakkanavar, accusing him of broadcasting false news claiming that Shetty had attacked the reporter. The last FIR was against the group seeking justice for the college student group for unlawful assembly in front of the hospital at Ujire. Responding to the clashes, Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara told reporters at Bengaluru that he has sought a report from the police regarding the cause of the incident Meanwhile, the police stepped up security at Ujire and Dharmasthala following the incident. The SIT probing allegations of secret burials in Dharmasthala Wednesday visited the grama panchayat office in the temple town, including those related to staff who worked there from 1998 to 2014, when the alleged murders and secret burials took place. Since July 29, SIT officials have dug up 12 of the 13 sites the whistleblower cited in his complaint. They found fragments of a skeleton on the third day of the inspection and portions of another skeleton on Monday. They were expected to inspect spot 13 Thursday.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by India Today (@indiatoday)Pointing out the irony, NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar, questioned the Eknath Shinde government's motives, using the hashtag #BlackmailGovernment, said, 'From this, it is clear that this government is not working for the people but for itself! But I want to ask the government—is this not an abuse of ministerial office?'advertisementMeanwhile, Congress leader Vijay Wedattiwar remarked, "Rapido's sponsorship was obtained by doing a 'Pratap' stunt. The Transport Minister should be congratulated for showing the Maharashtra government a demo of how to raise money for his event."Amid the backlash, Minister Sarnaik has appealed for the separation of sports from political discourse. "Any sport is a sport, it is not right to bring politics into it. Purvesh Pratap Sarnaik has been organising the Pro-Govinda League, an adventure sports competition that is the pride of Maharashtrian culture, for the last 3 years. This year, when this competition started from May 26, out of the 20-25 sponsoring organisations for this competition, Rapido is also one of the sponsoring organisations. This fact cannot be denied."The minister's office also clarified that Sarnaik took action against Rapido on July 2, when the matter first came to his notice, even though the company had been associated with the event since May 26."Not only this, but as per the instructions of Minister Sarnaik, the Transport Department on July 17 and 18, took action against the high-ranking officials of Rapido FIR has been registered at Amboli Police Station, Mumbai," the minister's office further response to the Opposition, the minister's public relations officer clarified, "Don't link sport to politics. Despite the recent row over sponsorship, Sarnaik has urged that the Pro-Govinda League's association with Rapido should not overshadow the event's cultural significance. "Therefore, please do not link the game #ProGovinda with politics. This is an appeal made by Transport Minister Shri. Pratap Sarnaik," the Transport Minister's office said.- EndsTrending Reel

CREDAI urges government to ensure hassle-free road connectivity between Vizianagaram-Bhogapuram international airport
Confederation of Real Estate Developers Association of India A.P. chapter vice president K. Subhash Channdra Bose requested the State government to ensure hassle free road facility between Vizianagaram City and Bhogapuram international airport as the existing connecting roads were very narrow and may not handle extra vehicular movement in future. He said that the extension of roads by 100 feet would pave the way for the speedy development of the construction industry, service sector, hospitality and other firms in the future. CREDAI has been holding meetings for the last few days to seek the opinions of the builders, entrepreneurs and others over the future opportunities of Vizianagaram and government's support for the speedy development of Vizianagaram City. He took the suggestions from CREDAI Vizianagaram chapter president general secretary Ashwant and CREDAI past president V. Pardhasaradhi and others during those meetings. Speaking to The Hindu, Mr .Subhash said that the development of 100 feet roads in the routes such as Vizianagaram-Denkada-Natavalasa-Bhogapuram and Vizianagaram-Chintalavalasa-Bhogapuram would pave the way for the speedy development of the Fort City. 'The then government developed roads and constructed PV Narasimha Rao Express Highway in Hyderabad to ensure the best and speedy connectivity to Shamshabad airport. Such initiative will also ensure the maximum progress and economic activity in and around Vizianagaram if roads are developed to ensure the best connectivity to the Bhogapuram international airport,' he added. 'CREDAI will submit representations the Chief Minister Naidu, Minister for Municipal Administration Minister for MSME Kondapalli Srinnivas and senior officials concerned to explain the requirements of Vizianagaram City in the backdrop of the construction of the international airport which is expected to be ready by June 2026,' he added. He thanked the State government for issuing GO-114 relaxing norms for the construction and reduction of stamp duty amount from 4 % to 1 % on GPA registrations. 'Earlier, the builders used to bear huge amounts of registration charges whenever they wanted to enter into an agreement with land owners for the purpose of construction of apartments,' he said, adding that the sand availability at reasonable cost has also benefited the construction industry in all the districts of Andhra Pradesh.
