Man (84) who used sex photos recovered from her woman's phone to harass her to be sentenced
Anthony Nolan (84), of Richmond Road, Fairview, was charged with harassment from May 8th, 2021, until May 10th, 2022, under section 10 of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act.
He pleaded guilty when he appeared at Dublin District Court before Judge Michele Finan on Monday.
The court heard the woman, who was known to the accused, gifted the pensioner her old phone in 2009, which she had used for four years.

Three years later, Nolan discovered some content on the phone, including personal messages and 'photos showing the injured party in sexual activities and he attempted to blackmail her in relation to that'.
Judge Finan noted that defence solicitor Andrew Molony said his client was attending psychiatric treatment and he needed time to obtain a report.
The woman was not present for the hearing.
Adjourning sentencing until September, Judge Finan requested that a victim impact statement be prepared for the next hearing. She also extended legal aid for a psychiatric report on Nolan.
The accused was remanded on continuing bail and was not required to testify.
It followed a preliminary hearing in April to consider whether the case should be sent up to the Circuit Court, which has wider sentencing powers. Jurisdiction was accepted, keeping it in the District Court.
The judge had heard that before the victim gave Nolan the phone, 'she wiped the phone clean of personal data.'
The evidence against him also included an accusation that, having discovered the messages and images, he refused to return the phone.
Judge Finan heard the complainant tried to block him, but he continued to harass her by electronic means and with messages.

Up to €5m goes missing after NTMA falls victim to phishing scam
An investigation has been launched after a multi-million euro scam was perpetrated against the National Treasury Management Agency (NTMA). The scam, which is understood to have involved as much as €5m, was uncovered earlier this week after staff expressed concern about a payment made to a company connected to the Ireland Stategic Investment Fund (ISIF). The fund is managed and controlled by the NTMA and is described as 'a sovereign development fund with a unique mandate to invest on a commercial basis to support economic activity and employment in Ireland'. Given the nature of the fund, large amounts of money are often transferred through it. READ MORE It emerged this week that one payment which caused staff concern was bogus, with the request originating from an as yet unidentified and likely criminal source. It is understood the nature and timing of the request for the fund transfer was designed to increase the chances the scam would be successful. The NTMA has been quoted as saying there was no evidence that there had been a breach of its systems, with the criminals exploiting human vulnerabilities and deploying a type of invoice fraud on the agency. 'Following receipt of a complaint of alleged fraud, An Garda Síochána has commenced an investigation into this matter. No further comment is available at this time,' a Garda spokesman told The Irish Times. The NTMA is understood to be carrying out an urgent review to establish what happened and to ascertain if and how the money lost can be recovered. While it is not clear if this is what happened on this occasion, invoice fraud typically sees criminals making contact with businesses pretending to be a legitimate enterprise. They then work to earn the trust of individuals within that company with a view to diverting payments to accounts they have control over. The money then disappears through the international banking network.

Witnesses sought after motorcyclist dies following collision in Co Dublin
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a collision in Collinstown, Co Dublin that left a motorcyclist with fatal injuries. The collision involving a motorcycle and a tractor-trailer occurred on the Old Airport Road at about 10.50am. The motorcyclist, a man in his 60s, was brought to the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital in Dublin where he was later pronounced deceased. No other injuries were reported. Drugs valued at €2.2 million seized by gardaí in Dublin and Laois
More than €2 million of drugs have been seized in related raids by gardaí in Laois and Dublin. A man has been arrested in connection with the seizure and is being detained under the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at a Garda station in the Dublin metropolitan region. The raids were part of investigations under Operation Tara targeting drug-trafficking networks. Officers from Garda National Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau were involved in the raids with help from the Clondalkin Drugs Unit. READ MORE They first intercepted a vehicle on the M7 in Co Laois on Friday. About €100,000 of suspected cocaine was discovered and seized. A man in his 30s was arrested at the scene. A follow-up search at a home in west Dublin led to the discovery of an estimated €160,000 cannabis, €1.2 million ketamine, €530,000 cocaine and €210,000 diamorphine. Cash and a number of items were also seized by gardaí. The seized drugs, with a total estimated street value of €2.2 million, have been sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis. Gardaí said investigations were continuing.
