A 14.5kg wedding dress and a venue beloved by Queen Elizabeth II: Inside Delta Goodrem's destination summer wedding to Matthew Copley in Malta

Daily Mail25-07-2025
Delta Goodrem and long-time partner Matthew Copley tied the knot in a lavish destination wedding in Malta last month.
Since then, the happy couple have been living the high life in wedded bliss, drip-feeding details of their summer nuptials to eager fans.
Now, an inside look at the three-day event has revealed the singer, 40, began her wedding week at The Phoenicia Malta, sporting a 14.5kg custom designer gown.
The location proved to be especially significant for the musician, as Matthew proposed to Delta on the grounds of the five-star heritage hotel in 2023.
While the actual ceremony took place at St Paul's Cathedral in Mdina, Delta and Matthew's love journey began at Malta's Mediterranean jewel.
From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop.
The Phoenicia Malta was a favourite of the late Queen Elizabeth II, with its art deco interiors, private gardens, seaside views and historic Grand Ballroom.
Matthew certainly saw the magic in the location, as the guitarist popped the question to Delta in the hotel's seven-acre garden while accompanied by a string quartet.
The pair relived the happy memory during their wedding week in June as they stayed at The Phoenicia Malta throughout the celebration.
Delta even entrusted her 14.5kg couture Paolo Sebastian bridal gown to the hotel to safeguard ahead of her nuptials.
She then spent the morning of her wedding getting ready at the hotel as wedding planner Sarah Young, Palazzo Parisio and WonderEvents helped organise the event.
Delta also ended her wedding week at the award-winning destination with a sentimental, sunset photo of her family and friends in the landscaped gardens.
'The team at The Phoenicia Malta made it feel like home,' Delta later shared.
'We captured this photo outside the hotel, with all the beautiful team at the hotel waving us off.'
'Thank you to everyone for making our special week even more special,' she finished.
Enya Stellini, the Events Manager at The Phoenicia Malta, said it was an 'honour' to host Delta and Matthew during the momentous occasion.
'It has been an honour to support Delta and Matthew from the very beginning,' she said.
'Their story reflects everything we strive to offer couples—beauty, intimacy and a sense of occasion rooted in Malta's vibrant history.
'Their celebration was a reminder of how personal destination weddings can be, and why Malta continues to attract couples from all over the world for their big day and beyond.'
Delta shared a first look at her 'fairytale' wedding with Vogue Australia is July.
The blushing bride stunned in an off-the-shoulder wedding gown with a racy sweetheart neckline designed by South Australian fashion designer Paul Vasileff, founder of Paolo Sebastian.
The French tulle gown featured gorgeous lattice detailing and a two-and-a-half metre train.
Delta said she worked with the designer over three months to create a gown that felt 'super personal and very special'.
'Paul and I connected the second I got engaged, and we started working together immediately,' Delta told Vogue of the couture creation.
The gown, which took around 500 hours to make and weighed 14.5kg, included nods to the couple's romance, including their wedding date, a pair of swans and cherubs, embroidered into the fabric.
Delta and Matthew exchanged vows in the historic St. Paul's Cathedral in Mdina, which was built in the 12th century.
The reception then took place at Naxxar's Palazzo Parisio, an estate with exquisite gardens that was constructed in the 18th century.
Guests at the ultra-private wedding reportedly received detailed schedules months in advance, with the celebration marking the culmination of a two-year planning process.
The wedding was a lavish multi-day celebration attended by the couple's nearest and dearest.
'June 2025, Husband and Wife. It was more magical than we both could have dreamed,' Delta wrote in an emotional caption on Instagram at the time.
'We said I do under the Maltese skies in a family fairytale wedding brought to life by so many angels surrounding us.
'We are holding on to every memory from that moment, the love, the laughter, the happy tears and dancing till the sun came up.'

Lily Collins rocks floral print trousers while cradling a huge bouquet of flowers as she continues to film scenes for the fifth season of Emily in Paris

Lily Collins looked stylish as she continued to film scenes for the fifth season of Emily in Paris in the French capital on Monday. The actress, 36, who plays marketing executive Emily Cooper, was spotted cradling a huge bouquet of pink and white flowers outside a florist. She turned heads in a pair of cropped floral print trousers with a red and white knitted top. The star added brown Adidas trainers and toted her belongings in a straw basket bag. Appearing deep in conversation with the shop keeper, Lily also carried a white net bag full of groceries. The upcoming series will see Emily juggle her potential new life in Rome and her past life in Paris. Lily Collins looked stylish as she filmed scenes for the fifth season of Emily in Paris in the French capital on Monday She turned heads in a pair of cropped floral print trousers with a red and white knitted top Emily was left with a decision at the end of series four, as she was offered the position of the lead of the Italian Agence Grateau office. Despite falling in love with Paris and the agency, Emily admitted she was tempted by a new life - with a new man - in Rome. Fans will remember Emily and Gabriel's (Lucas Bravo) romance fell apart after they finally tried to make a go of their relationship after he broke off his relationship with Camille. Following a fake pregnancy scandal, Camille revealed she wasn't actually expecting and Emily and Gabriel tried to work out a romantic future. However, it wasn't meant to be for the star-crossed lovers who were unable to work out their differences and she was pushed into the arms of Marcello, after they met on the slopes of Megève, when she was abandoned at the top of a slope by Gabriel. They crossed paths again at a polo match in Paris and they enjoyed a night out together in the city, which lasted until the following morning when he asked her to come and visit him in Rome. Emily followed her heart and travelled to meet Marcello, where she was also tasked with acquiring his family's business by her boss Sylvie. However, Emily was reluctant to mix business with pleasure. The pair hit a stumbling block when he learned of her plans to try and secure a professional relationship with his family, who owned a luxury cashmere company, but they eventually managed to iron their issues out. At this point, Gabriel had a candid conversation with Alfie (Lucien Laviscount), who urged him to try and win Emily back, despite previously being romantically involved with her himself. But despite dashing to Rome with the hope of reuniting, Emily was nowhere to be seen as she enjoyed her romantic day out with Marcello. Speaking about the upcoming series, Lucas said: 'I think Gabriel realized that he doesn't want to let Emily go so easily, and he might have made a big mistake. 'They certainly had a big fight and a cooling-off period. But I think he realized that by the end of the season, that there's something that he doesn't want to let Emily go. 'I don't know what that means. Doesn't necessarily mean they're going to be together instantly or ever. I don't know, but I think he feels there's unfinished business with the two of them.' However, there is hope for the couple as according to creator Darren Star, the season is not fully moving to Rome. He told Deadline: 'She didn't change her Instagram handle to Emily in Rome. She is working in Rome sometimes. Sylvie's company has an office in Rome. 'Emily's getting that on its feet. I don't necessarily think that it means a permanent — in my mind, it's definitely not a permanent — move to Rome. We're not leaving Paris.' The series is expected to air towards the end of this year, but one of the main characters has revealed they won't be returning. Camille Razat, 31, who plays Camille in the romantic comedy-drama - took to Instagram to reveal the shocking news with an emotional goodbye post after fans fumed at bosses for 'destroying the character'. Camille has played Emily's pal and love rival in the show since the programme hit the streaming service back in 2020. Now, after five years on our screens as Camille, the actress is ready to move on. Sharing various snaps from her time on the show, she wrote: 'After an incredible journey, I've made the decision to step away from Emily in Paris. 'It has been a truly wonderful experience, one filled with growth, creativity, and unforgettable memories. 'I'm deeply grateful to @starmandarren and the entire team at @netflix and @paramountpics for their trust and for giving me the opportunity to bring Camille to life and leaving the door open for her return, as she will always be a part of Emily In Paris world. 'This character has meant a lot to me, and I feel that her storyline has naturally come to an end. It felt like the right moment to explore new horizons.' She added: 'I've recently wrapped two series: Nero for Netflix and the Lost Station Girls for Disney+. I'm also excited to share that I've launched my own production company, @tazar_production. 'We mainly produce music videos and short films for now, but we're currently developing our first feature film, something I'm truly passionate about and excited to grow. 'I leave the show with nothing but love and admiration for the cast, crew, and fans who have supported us along the way. Thank you for the beautiful ride.' Her fans and co-stars rushed to the comments section to share their support. Lily said: 'Love you sister. It's been a wild ride and an absolute pleasure. You're a rockstar. So proud of you.' Philippine Beaulieu added: 'You'll be so missed ma chérie Frenchie!!!' Lucien wrote: 'From day one you've been my rider on this show. Your passion for story telling, your dark sense of humour, your unwavering ability to stay true to yourself, when everything's pushing you in a different direction. 'You're special Camille and I feel absolutely honoured to of been able to dance with you these past seasons. Keep on shining. 'I'm going to miss laughing with you. I'm cheering you on in everything you do.' Emily In Paris premiered on Netflix in October 2020. The synopsis on the streaming service reads: 'New passions. New fashions. New Emily? 'A plucky American marketing whiz spreads her wings in life and love after landing her dream job in Paris.' The show, created by Star, has had 40 episodes run over four seasons. It stars the likes of Lily, Philippine, Ashley Park, Lucas, Samuel Arnold, Bruno Gouery, William Abadie and Lucien.

Top gift ideas for Mother's Day

Tied with tradition and layered with meaning, the day marks the birthday of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, hence the wave of blue that sweeps across everything from clothing to gift wrapping. The colour, along with the jasmine flower (dok mali), has become synonymous with the occasion – symbols of grace and purity offered in admiration and respect by grateful offspring to mummy-dearest. In contemporary times though it's about reinterpreting iconic elements like garlands, florals and soft blues into gifts that feel personal, thoughtful and anything but basic. So instead of reaching for the usual last-minute bouquet, the following suggestions take the familiar symbols of Thai Mother's Day and give them a contemporary twist. Respectful doesn't have to mean boring – you can celebrate matriarchs this Mother's Day with myriad gifts that combine meaning and modernity. Flowers, bouquets and garlands Flowers might be the classic Mother's Day move but that doesn't mean you have to play it safe. In Thai culture, the jasmine garland (phuang malai) is a time-honoured symbol of purity, love and deep respect. It's given by the child to the mother as a powerful gesture of gratitude. Brands like Flower in Hand by P, 1000malai, Loca Flowers and Ivy & Pollen are turning tradition into art. They're crafting garlands that go beyond the usual – a mix of florals, textures and unexpected details made just for Mother's Day. Each piece is exclusive, expressive and designed to say more than words ever could. Baked goodies Now for something sweet. We're talking confections made with precision so fine they're almost too pretty to eat: they're the kind of gift that speaks for you. It only takes a bit of thought to turn something beautiful into something personal. After all, just knowing your mother's favourite flavours shows that you've been paying attention, and that's the part she'll love most. Thai pastries bring more than flavour to the table though – they bring feeling. At Summer Forest that sentiment shines through in custom cakes with edible photo prints paired with a Mother's Day-ready set that includes a floral garland. Meanwhile, Little Hideout Patisserie leans into French classics, presenting desserts adorned with lace-like floral decorations – delicate touches that feel just right for celebrating Mum. Scented essentials Thailand's scented scene offers plenty of ways to bottle up affection. Long associated with Thai motherhood, jasmine often takes centre stage – its gentle notes stirring calm and quiet nostalgia with every inhalation. And when it comes to packaging, the same care is applied: each item is thoughtfully wrapped and often looks just as striking as the scent inside. From artisanal candles to perfume oils and room sprays, these fragrant essentials feel like love letters in a bottle. Thai brands have captured the signature scent of jasmine in their own distinct ways. Panpuri's Siamese Water pairs jasmine with crisp mint and citrus for a clean and enervating modern take. Garland by Journal channels the soft femininity of a traditional Thai offering, while Bath & Bloom's Thai Jasmine stays rooted in purity, delivering a timeless floral profile. Each interpretation sets a different mood but all honour jasmine's deep ties to love and tradition. For something that lasts beyond the day and prolongs the personal vibe, look to pieces that carry a story, a sense of craft or a touch of everyday charm. Thai designers continue to turn heritage into keepsakes. Scarves take on new life through brands like Jim Thompson and Naraya, where classic Thai silk is reinterpreted in elegant, enduring designs. Tote bags from Slowstitch studio and Marionsiam offer a more earth-conscious perspective, celebrating natural dyes, handwoven textures and traditional techniques through a modern, sustainable lens. On the jewellery front, Sarran leans into soft femininity, transforming floral details into sculptural pieces. Rooted in themes of motherhood and womanhood, the brand honours the quiet strength and beauty of maternal love, making its creations especially meaningful for the occasion. Shependence, by contrast, embraces a minimalist ethos with clean-lined gold and silver pieces that empower through simplicity. Their photo lockets, designed to hold tiny family portraits, offer a deeply intimate sentimental touch.
