The St. Regis Singapore Reimagines Luxury Residential Living with a Multi-Phase Redesign
The St. Regis Singapore is pleased to announce an extensive, multi-phased transformation - the first since its official opening in April 2008, marking the dawn of a new chapter in the House of Astor.
Crafted in collaboration with acclaimed design studio FBEYE International, the new interiors are a poetic homage to the nearby UNESCO World Heritage Site - the Singapore Botanic Gardens. Each space reflects this inspiration through the use of refined botanical motifs and hues, and natural tactile textures that bring nature indoors, while seamlessly preserving the timeless elegance and peerless service synonymous with the St. Regis brand.
By Q4 2025, all 299 luxuriously appointed guest rooms and suites will feature the comforts of luxury residential living. Shades of greens and blues, soft earthy tones, and floral accents echo the surrounding greenery, while bespoke furnishings like crystal-cut glass lamps and sustainable design sensibilities, such as motion-activated LED lighting and potable water on tap, will appeal to the eco-conscious guest.
Debuting in June is the Tea Room, with interiors awash with a curated palette of ivory, teal and blush pink, evoking the serenity of a summer garden, making it the perfect setting for the new St. Regis Afternoon Tea ritual. The Patisserie will offer grab-and-go salads and sandwiches in addition to a selection of artisanal chocolates, homemade pastries and dainty desserts.
For hosting exquisite meetings, events and social celebrations, the new John Jacob Ballroom subtly captures the beauty of 19th-century European orangeries, with ornamental motifs reminiscent of trailing vines. By day, two skylights kindle the golden glow of a greenhouse; while by night, the Ballroom's mirror elements evoke a starlit garden. Two new LED video walls measuring 9 metres in length, intelligent lighting systems and state-of-the-art sound systems support events of any calibre. Six additional meeting rooms on Level 1 are due to undergo refurbishment in Q3 2025 while cocktail aficionados can look forward to the launch of the St. Regis Bar Singapore in August 2025.
In celebration of its new guest rooms, the Exquisite Stays Redefined offer is an invitation to experience the hotel's beautifully reimagined rooms, which include the Astor Room, Astor Grand Deluxe King, Astor Grand Deluxe Double, and Penthouse King. Thoughtfully curated for the discerning traveller, the stay includes the St. Regis' signature butler service, daily buffet breakfast and a complimentary Aperitivo Hour for two, served from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Exquisite Stays Redefined is available for bookings via this link, for stays from 1 June 2025 through 31 March 2026.

India's International Visitor Spend Soars to Record Highs, WTTC Reports
Delhi, India – Latest data from the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) has revealed that international visitor spend in India reached a record ₹3.1TN in 2024, 9% above the previous peak of 2019. After a prolonged reliance on domestic travel spend following the pandemic, WTTC's latest Economic Impact Research (EIR) reveals international travel is not only back; it's stronger than ever, reaching unprecedented levels last year. According to the data, while domestic travel has remained a vital force, with spending soaring to ₹15.5TN, (22% above 2019 levels), the revival of international tourism is now propelling the sector into a bold new era of growth. Travel & Tourism contributed almost ₹21TN to the Indian economy last year, 20% ahead of 2019, and yet with a young, educated population facing rapid automation through AI, the sector remains a critical source of employment and opportunity. Strengthening infrastructure, including high-speed rail and smart mobility solutions, will be essential to reach the sector's true potential and raise its GDP contribution toward 10-11%. The sector also supported an all-time high of almost 46.5MN jobs, equivalent to 9.1% of total employment across India. The country also welcomed 20MN international visitors in 2024 - 2.3MN more than 2019, reaffirming the country's status as a leading global destination and underscoring the renewed international confidence in its tourism offering. To maintain this momentum, WTTC calls for continued investment and targeted policy support, and urges the government to reconsider its recent decision to reduce funding for overseas tourism promotion. Julia Simpson, WTTC President & CEO, said India's Travel & Tourism sector is experiencing unprecedented growth, with international visitor numbers now at record highs after a period of strong domestic reliance. We strongly support the government's plans to simplify the e-visa process. While visa-on-arrival and e-visa systems are in place, reciprocal policies and long delays for key markets like the U.S., where appointments are reportedly unavailable until 2026, continue to hinder tourists. Making it easier to visit India is one of the fastest ways to unlock further international arrivals and spending. To support this growth and ensure long-term resilience, WTTC has signed an MoU with WTTCII to amplify India's tourism voice globally. The MOU combines WTTC's international influence with WTTCII's strong national presence. The MOU will strengthen policy coherence and offer a model for global-local tourism leadership. The global tourism body's research also reveals India's business travel is experiencing record growth, with combined domestic and international spending hitting ₹1.1TN last year, surpassing the 2019 peak by 2.6%. A look ahead to 2025 and 2035 WTTC is forecasting another record-breaking year for India's Travel & Tourism sector with its economic contribution set to reach over ₹22TN in 2025, whilst employment in the sector is expected to reach more than 48MN. As the sector expands, there's a significant opportunity to foster homegrown entrepreneurship, particularly in luxury travel experiences, which are gaining strong traction among new generations of travellers and investors. International visitor spend is expected to reach ₹3.2TN, whilst spending from domestic travellers is set to hit ₹ By 2035, Travel & Tourism's contribution to the national economy is forecast to almost double, to reach just under ₹42TN, with the sector employing almost 64MN people. India is well-placed to become one of the world's most dynamic tourism economies, with its dynamic mix of heritage, natural beauty, and modern innovation. This includes unlocking the potential of small and medium-sized enterprises which form the backbone of the sector and drive innovation across communities and regions. WTTC calls on the government to match the sector's resilience and ambition with clear, consistent policy support. The Standard, Singapore Now Open
The Standard, Singapore, officially opened its doors tonight with a spectacular grand opening party that brought to the fore its signature lifestyle brand of irreverence and high design. The private event saw the who's who in creativity, art, media, and fashion arrive in the city, coupled with electrifying entertainment and sublime food and drink. At the centre of the evening was Dreamscape, a fantastical living installation conceptualized by artist Eric Tobua—in collaboration with The Standard's brand and design team—who also created the striking centerpiece that is a permanent piece of the hotel's reception. Known for blending nature, performance, and surrealism, Tobua brought his imaginative world to life— transforming the hotel into a dreamlike landscape where fantasy meets reality. The original Dreamscape, a terrarium-inspired piece set at the reception desk, drew inspiration from Singapore's lush natural beauty, including Gardens by the Bay and the Botanic Gardens. It featured magical elements like a crystal pond, a white snail, orchids, orange groves, tropical flowers, colourful frogs, and even a mermaid. For the grand opening, Tobua scaled this vision into a full-scale experiential journey throughout the hotel's tiered garden, reimagining the space as a living fairytale. The journey began at Café Standard with signature cocktails and elegant canapés served under intimate lighting, accompanied by a curated soundtrack. From there, guests wandered into The Garden, which had been reimagined as a fantastical realm dotted with immersive encounters. A green bush pianist, camouflaged head-to-toe in leaves, emerged from the vertical wall to perform live music, while flower dancers and orchid pole performers glided through the foliage. Whimsical characters like the white snail and other fantastical creatures drifted between guests, adding playful spontaneity to the evening. In the middle of The Garden was the official unveiling of Impossible Blooms, a bold flower sculpture by Singaporean artist Samuel Xun. Commissioned by The Standard, Singapore, the work symbolised life, blooming, and transformation. Costumes inspired by the sculpture's vivid forms allowed dancers to emerge like spirits from the artwork itself, embodying the surreal and celebrating the blurring of boundaries between art and life. The space also featured a series of striking installations: a sculptural waterfall adorned with vibrant tropical flora, turning an existing water feature into a living masterpiece where design and nature converged; and an Orange Grove Walkway, a whimsical trail of glowing oranges and twisting branches that paid homage to both Dreamscape and the hotel's location on Orange Grove Road. Each twist and turn revealed a new scene, inviting guests to wander and wonder. From spontaneous art encounters to ambient performances, the evening reflected The Standard's commitment to surprise, delight, and defy convention. The evening's crescendo unfolded poolside, where the tranquil waters were transformed into a serene pond echoing Dreamscape's crystal lagoon. In a breathtaking performance, synchronized swimmers dressed as colourful frogs and lotus flowers glided across the surface, a living reflection of Tobua's dream world. Another standout moment came when Singaporean soprano Felicia Teo took the stage for a stunning opera performance in a glowing tiger lilyinspired gown, her voice ringing through the garden under the stars.
