How We Styled 'And Just Like That' – By The Show's Costume Designers
'There are so many good looks from season three,' Molly Rogers shares, appearing on a Zoom call with her AJLT co-costume designer Danny Santiago (both pictured left). 'I think we tried to move the needle a couple of times on Carrie, because she's writing a novel [set in 1864] and we wanted to reflect this in her clothes. So she has a lot of half booties on, a couple of hats and a few panniers [hooped petticoats] that pop a skirt out'.
'One of my favourite outfits of Carrie's is when she goes to Tiffany's with Charlotte in episode six,' shares Santiago. 'It's quite a beautiful look as she's being inspired by her book, and so it has the feeling of something from that era. She's got this beautiful vintage hat on with a beautiful dress, and underneath, these panniers that give an amazing silhouette, and gorgeous Maison Margiela pumps. For me, it's one of the best outfits from the season.'
'Carrie had on a pink nightgown in episode five. I watched them film on that day, and it was absolutely beautiful in the setting of that apartment,' adds Rogers, when questioned about her favourite look. 'Carrie's just in the kitchen with Miranda, but colour-wise, that was one of my favourite looks. We went to London and shopped, and we brought the nightgown and robe back. We also had fun styling the funeral in episode six because funerals mean hats, and us and hats, we go back a long way! We love a hat.'
As the storylines of SATC and AJLT have evolved, so too have the styles of our three leads. Has the costuming of the show now become a collaborative process with each actor? 'For sure, I think because we all know each other so well,' Rogers shares. 'Kristin (Davis) is really good about texting me something that she saw in a magazine to find out if anybody has worn it. SJ [Sarah Jessica Parker] is really hands on in her fitting. She really does know how to display a costume in its best light. I've never worked with anybody quite like her.'
Santiago agrees. 'When it comes to SJ having an accessory or carrying a bag, she's just so aware of everything, and knows how to make it look beautiful'.
Addressing some of the more controversial fashion choices this season, Rogers recalls 'Everybody went insane about the [oversized gingham] Head In The Clouds Hat that Carrie wore to the park in the first episode. But again, do you want to see Carrie barefoot upstairs in her apartment? Do you want to see Carrie in a baseball cap? To me, it needs to be 'The Carrie Show', even if the looks cause an uproar'.
On styling Miranda, Rogers explains that 'Cynthia [Nixon]'s more into jewellery choices. She is into the clothes, but she's a jewellery nut and she really loves to paw through the earrings and necklace combos; she enjoys that a lot. [Director, writer and executive producer] Michael Patrick King also wants to satisfy the audience's appetite for fashion.'
While some of the storylines and the show's sudden end have generated a lot of online discourse, Rogers and Santiago always enjoy the fan reactions to their fashion Easter eggs, like when Carrie re-wears a familiar piece from an episode of Sex And The City.
'It's so much fun, and we're so careful about where we'll sneak those rewears in. A lot of the time we'll dress the closet with something recognisable hanging in the back to see if anybody notices,' tells Rogers.
'The fans really zoom into these things, and they get so happy to see those items again. It's like an old friend,' says Santiago.
Rogers adds 'they really know what episode it's from. I don't even know that! They have watched so many reruns that it's truly incredible. It's wonderful, and I'm grateful. I'm always curious to see what the audience thinks about the fashion'.
One of these moments was the reappearance of the printed Chanel blouse, originally seen in season three, episode 15 of Sex And The City. Originally worn backwards, the blouse was reworn for season three, episode three of And Just Like That, though fans noticed it wasn't the exact same item after forensic examination of the positioning of the coloured patches.
'Molly found that Chanel blouse in a vintage shop in New York. It actually came from Karen Elson's personal collection, and more than likely it might have been a sample from the Chanel showroom that was given to her. We've found some other pieces that Sarah Jessica didn't own from the first run, but now she does,' Santiago tells.
'I think that the internet was so excited to see that Chanel blouse again. At the time we never really looked at the reverse to see if it matched the original one, but that's how closely people watch,' Rogers says.
'SJ has such an incredible archive of everything from the beginning of the show. And we're able to go in and pick out pieces that we want,' Santiago tells. 'We carefully choose where we want to place each piece. Every now and then, we'll find things out there in the market that have already been worn in the show,'.
Do the pair feel a pressure when styling one of the world's most talked about series? 'For us, what we do is very much in our own little bubble and we don't really look about to see what other people are saying,' Santiago shares. 'It's a very safe space when Molly and I are together and we're creating with the actors. It's very collaborative. We have our own little world that we create and being able to play is the best, because we can be open and creative'.
As beloved as the SATC universe is, the reboot has received scrutiny from fans and critics alike. 'I don't do anything that I don't like, so it bothers me when people jump on the train of "let's hate watch", that's not what I'm here for,' says Rogers. 'I put a lot of joy and satisfaction in getting things into the room to see SJ's reaction and I find it all a delicious experience. I just do not pay attention to the negativity. I often wonder, can people enjoy anything anymore? It's just all so judgmental. I'm not that way. I live and let live.'
In the same way as the storylines of Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte (and Samantha) will live on in television history, so too will the iconic looks and enduring fashion legacy that And Just Like That and Sex And The City have left.

Tristan Rogers, who played super spy Robert Scorpio on 'General Hospital,' has died at 79
Tristan Rogers, who played legacy character Robert Scorpio on ABC's 'General Hospital,' died Friday, less than one month after he made a special appearance on the soap opera. He was 79. 'The entire 'General Hospital' family is heartbroken to hear of Tristan Rogers' passing,' said Frank Valentini, the show's executive producer, in a statement. 'Tristan has captivated our fans for 45 years and Port Charles will not be the same without him (or Robert Scorpio).' Born in Melbourne, Australia, Rogers' first foray into performing was in his early twenties and playing drums in a rock band with a group of friends. They weren't successful so Rogers turned to commercial work and modeling to earn some money. When the band dissolved, Rogers decided to give acting a try. After various roles in Australia, he also worked as a DJ and eventually moved to Los Angeles to try to break into Hollywood. He said casting directors were initially turned off by his accent but he eventually landed a two-day role on 'General Hospital' in 1980. 'I had no idea at the point how big the show was,' Rogers told fellow 'General Hospital' actor Maurice Benard on the YouTube show, 'State of Mind with Maurice Benard' in 2022. 'I had no name. I was brought in expressly to beat up the hero, Luke, (played by Anthony Geary), and then disappear,' Rogers said. His first day was half-over when then-executive producer Gloria Monty asked if he would like to stay on. They had no character written for him so for three weeks Monty asked him to just appear in scenes 'looking furtive, looking suspicious' until they came up with a storyline. It was decided he would play a spy known as 'CK8' and eventually he was given the name Robert Scorpio. The character would remain a fixture in Port Charles for the rest of Rogers' life, even when he wasn't a current cast member. Scorpio's on again/off again romance with Emma Samms' character, Holly Sutton, remained a favorite among fans. Scorpio also had a romance, and many storylines with another spy, Anna Devane, played by Finola Hughes. Scorpio and Devane shared a daughter, Robin, played by Kimberly McCullough. Samms returned to the show for a stint last fall where it was revealed that Scorpio was the father of her adult daughter, Sasha Gilmore (played by Sofia Mattson.) Rogers and Samms left the show together in November 2024 in scenes taped with a nod to 'Casablanca.' He returned to the show in July for one episode when Sasha arrived to his home in France with her new baby. It was then revealed that Rogers had lung cancer Rogers' other acting credits include 'The Bold and the Beautiful,' 'The Young & the Restless' and 'Studio City,' which won him outstanding supporting actor in a digital drama series at the Daytime Emmy Awards. He is survived by his wife, Teresa Parkerson, and a daughter and a son.

Cynthia Nixon's Go-To Lunch: Worth The Hype?
And just like that… And Just Like That is ending. After three seasons, showrunner Michael Patrick King and star Sarah Jessica Parker have announced that the Sex and the City revival is coming to a close. Obviously, Sex and the City has had a major cultural impact. And its impact on food is no exception. The original series helped popularize multiple New York establishments, like Magnolia Bakery. And while not directly SATC-related, Cynthia Nixon had her own moment of food virality when she revealed her go-to bagel order while running for New York Governor. Recently, during press for this last season of And Just Like That, Cynthia gave more insight into her favorite foods, revealing the healthy lunch she's been eating for years. In a cast interview with SiriusXM, Andy Cohen brought up a story Sarah Jessica Parker had previously told about Cynthia Nixon bringing Tupperware with her everywhere. Cynthia confirmed, saying she'd brought it to the dressing room that day, with Kristin Davis piping in that Cynthia had even brought Tupperware to Morocco — presumably referencing when the cast filmed Sex and the City 2 in Marrakech. So, what's in this famous Tupperware? 'I have the same lunch every day unless I go out,' Cynthia explained. 'I have kale, quinoa, curried chickpeas, sweet potato, avocado, red pickled onions, and hot sauce.' The lunch honestly sounded delicious, so I had to give it a try. Psst: To prep hundreds of easy lunches right on your phone, download the free Tasty app right now. The first thing I did was gather my main ingredients. The recipe involves a lot of prep, so I had my work set out for me. I know my avocado looks green. Everything is going to be okay, guys, I promise. To save myself some time, I opted to buy the chickpeas from the store. I couldn't find pre-made curried chickpeas, but I did find Moroccan chickpea stew from the brand Mina at Whole Foods, which had similar ingredients to the recipes I looked at for homemade curried that, I was on my own. The specifics of Cynthia's lunch were vague. How much of each ingredient does she use? How are they prepared? Needless to say, I had to freestyle a bit. I started by prepping the sweet potatoes and red onions; I chopped the sweet potatoes into small chunks and thinly sliced the red onion. I roasted the sweet potatoes at 400°F for about 30 minutes with olive oil and salt. Onto the pickled red onions: I combined boiling water and granulated sugar in a bowl, mixing until the sugar dissolved completely. Next, I added red wine vinegar, the sliced red onion, and salt. I then put this mixture in the fridge to pickle for a few hours. Next up, it was time to deal with the kale. Recipes with kale in them can sometimes turn people off. The key is to massage the raw kale with olive oil until it's reduced in size by about half. This makes the kale softer and easier to eat. During this time, I also made plain quinoa over the stove, following package instructions. Finally, it was time to put everything together! I had to trust my gut with assembly. Was this supposed to be more like a salad (more kale than quinoa) or a bowl (more quinoa than kale)? I decided to make it more like a salad, mixing the kale with about half the amount of quinoa. From there, I loaded everything else on: the sweet potatoes, sliced avocado, chickpeas, and pickled red onions. I finished with a few dashes of hot sauce. So, did Cynthia recover from Bagel Gate? To quote Berger (Post-It Guy) from SATC… 'I'm sorry. I can't. Don't hate me.' This lunch had the potential to be great. I love pickled red onions, and the acidity mingled well with the hearty, roasted sweet potato and creamy avocado. However, the curried chickpeas totally threw off the flavor profile of everything else in the bowl. The cumin flavor was overwhelming amidst the vibe of the rest of the ingredients. It especially clashed with the hot sauce. Though both were spicy, they tasted completely different. I'm guessing Cynthia must be a spice queen, which is why both are included. That being said, it was a nice, hearty lunch. While I didn't give myself a big portion, I could see this lunch getting Cynthia through long filming days if she was loading a substantial amount of it into her Tupperware. If I were to make this lunch in the future, I'd sub the spiced chickpeas with roasted or even plain, canned chickpeas. I'd also add feta to go with the sweet potatoes. Finally, I'd omit the hot sauce and top the salad with green goddess dressing. On to the next celebrity lunch! Hungry for more?
