Robbers break into Mirzan Mahathir's home, flee with RM1.8m in valuables
According to The Vibes, the break-in reportedly occurred around 5pm and was discovered by a Filipino domestic helper, who noticed that the padlock on the back door had been cut and the bedroom of Mirzan's daughter, Khadijah, 29, had been ransacked.
Khadijah later confirmed that several items were missing, including a Cartier bangle, gold rings, earrings, a pair of golden chopsticks, jade bangles, old passports and foreign currency.
The two-storey bungalow, located on a 1.5-acre end-lot, is equipped with 24-hour security. However, despite having 16 closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras, the system only provides live viewing with no recording function.
A forensic team from the Kuala Lumpur police headquarters, comprising five officers and personnel, was deployed to the scene.
They recovered three fingerprints from the bedroom, and also seized the cut Solex padlock as evidence.
The fingerprints have been sent to Bukit Aman for further analysis.
A K9 unit from the Police Training Centre (Pulapol) was also brought in to assist with investigations.
The case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code for house-breaking.

Authorities suspect the site was used to rear fighting birds for underground betting syndicates. The use of unlicensed foreign animals poses a risk to public health and contributes to illegal gambling. The raid forms part of Operasi Bersepadu Khazanah (OBK), aimed at curbing wildlife crime and smuggling. Between January and July, PDRM conducted 179 raids and arrested 314 individuals in similar operations nationwide. Police say they will continue to intensify intelligence-led raids to protect public safety and wildlife.

Five arrested in Kelantan for illegal moneylending, including red paint attacks on borrowers' homes
KOTA BHARU, July 28 — Police have arrested five suspects believed to be involved in illegal moneylending activities, including threats and acts of mischief, such as splashing red paint on borrowers' homes. Kelantan police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat said the suspects, aged between 25 and 39, were detained under Op Vulture in separate raids. The first suspect was apprehended on July 23 in Pasir Tumboh, Kubang Kerian, while the other four were arrested on July 25 following a red paint incident in Pasir Hor. Police also seized 34 items believed to have been used in these activities, including red paint, threatening notes, clothing, face masks, mobile phones, and motorcycles. 'Preliminary investigations revealed that all five suspects are believed to be linked to at least nine cases of property damage in Kota Bharu, Tumpat, and Tanah Merah. 'Their actions included breaking window panes with stones, pasting threatening notes, and padlocking borrowers' gates as a form of intimidation,' he said in a statement tonight. Mohd Yusoff said the case is being investigated under Section 5(2) of the Moneylenders Act 1951 and Sections 427/506 of the Penal Code. Driver on rampage hits 2 cars, 2 motorcycles in George Town
The driver crashed into a car on Jalan Perak and continued his rampage until he reached the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway, police said. GEORGE TOWN : A driver on a rampage collided with two cars and two motorcycles before he himself was hospitalised along with four others here last night. Five people were seriously injured and one slightly hurt in the incident that stretched from Jalan Perak to the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway, police said. Northeast district police chief Abdul Rozak Muhammad said the car driven by the 50-year-old man hit the back of another car driven by a 44-year-old woman at the Jalan Perak traffic light junction at about 8.30pm. 'The man continued driving and hit two motorcycles at separate locations on Jalan Perak before rear-ending a second car on the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway,' he said in a statement today. He said the driver suffered serious injuries. Also seriously injured were the two motorcyclists and one pillion rider, and the driver whose car he crashed into on the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway. He said the case is being investigated under Section 42 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for dangerous driving.
