Louis Vuitton draws fashion set to Gare du Nord for runway show
PARIS, March 10 (Reuters) - Louis Vuitton designer Nicolas Ghesquiere brought his Paris audience to the Gare du Nord for his fall-winter runway presentation on Monday night, showing an eclectic and futuristic mix of styles that featured 1980s-flavored shoulders and scrunched boots along with a wide array of handbags.
Models marched through rows of seated guests as if charging through a bustling train station - only they were just across the street from the Paris train station, in an indoor courtyard.
The first model wore bright red trousers with a gathered, elastic waist, cinched at the ankles and paired with a colorful blouse that was covered with a smoky, translucent rain coat. Her hair was teased out, brushed mostly to one side.
Other sporty looks followed, including nylon jackets with hoods and zippered pockets that contrasted with dressier styles like lacy slip-dresses and skirts with piles of ruffled layers.
The LVMH-owned (LVMH.PA), opens new tab label, which welcomed guests with a clip from Kraftwerk's "Trans-Europe Express" on repeat, added images from the album cover to some looks.
At the end of the show, French First Lady Brigitte Macron leapt out of her seat to embrace Ghesquiere. Macron, who sat alongside the family of LVMH CEO Bernard Arnault, is known to wear Vuitton for official outings.
Paris Fashion Week winds up on Tuesday, after featuring shows from some of the world's biggest brands including Dior, Hermes, Chanel, and Saint Laurent (PRTP.PA), opens new tab, as well as Victoria Beckham and Stella McCartney.

New York City just added two more reasons to flex its culinary muscle: César and Le Bernardin have landed spots on the World's 50 Best Restaurants extended list for 2025, which ranks restaurants around the world from 51 through 100. Of the eight North American entries, two are right here in Manhattan and both are masters of the sea. Making a splash at No. 98 is César, the elegant, seafood-focused restaurant from chef César Ramirez. Located in a century-old space at 333 Hudson Street, the sleek dining room, which has both counter and table seating, gives a front-row view of the kinetic open kitchen. Ramirez, best known for his Michelin-starred work at Chef's Table at Brooklyn Fare, serves a 13-course tasting menu built on Japanese precision, French technique and impeccable ingredients from around the world. Highlights include Norwegian langoustine with shiso and caviar, and sawara paired with yuzu kosho. Double Olympic champion Lomachenko announces retirement
June 5 (Reuters) - Ukraine's double Olympic gold medallist and three-weight world champion Vasiliy Lomachenko announced his retirement from boxing on Thursday at the age of 37 and more than a year after his last fight. Lomachenko beat Australian George Kambosos Jr with an 11th round stoppage in Perth last May to claim the vacant IBF lightweight belt. The 2008 featherweight and 2012 lightweight Olympic champion wraps up his professional career with a record of 18 wins and three defeats, with 12 knockouts, after an amateur record of 396 wins and only one defeat. He was unified lightweight champion and also won world titles as a featherweight and super-featherweight. "I'm grateful for every victory and every defeat both in the ring and in life," Lomachenko said in a video message on social media. "I'm thankful that, as my career comes to an end, I've gained clarity about the direction a person must take in order to achieve true victory, not just in the ring but in overcoming their old self."
