As Tesla plants its first physical footprint in India, it appears to have struck a chord with auto lovers. The Elon Musk company is already planning to launch a second showroom in Delhi's Aeorcity, a premium business hub near the Indira Gandhi International Airport.
The showroom in the national capital is expected to open later this month, real estate insiders said.
"These deals are for showrooms, not service centres," one source told Reuters. Tesla's India rollout will initially focus on brand-building and demand assessment rather than full operational scale, the source added.

After ASMI, Lokesh Machines develops India's 1st indigenous pvt sector MMG

Hyderabad: After having successfully hit bullseye with its debut weapon– a 9x19 mm calibre submachine gun (SMG) nicknamed ASMI, which was India's first SMG to be indigenously designed, developed and manufactured by the private sector — Hyderabad-based Lokesh Machines Ltd has now scored another hit. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The CNC machines maker has now developed a first-of-its-kind 7.62x51mm belt-fed medium machine gun (MMG). Just like ASMI, the MMG too has been developed in collaboration with Armament Research and Development Establishment (ARDE), Pune. The MMG, which can operate in both single-shot and automatic modes and is compatible with both Indian and NATO standard ammunition, can fire 800 rounds per minute and boasts of an effective range of 1800 meters. It has a belt capacity of 250 rounds, with the option to attach additional belts for sustained firepower in combat situations and can be mounted on ground vehicles, naval vessels and aircraft. It can operate in extreme temperatures, ranging from -40 to +55 degrees Celsius. The company has now bagged a Rs 17.7 crore order from the Indian Army for the supply of precision components for in-service MMGs after extensive testing of Lokesh's MMG platform, Lokesh Machines said on Wednesday. "Our MMG is about 25% lighter than the MMGs currently in use by the Indian Army, which extensively tested the weapon and it's subassemblies before deciding to upgrade its in-service MMGs with our subassemblies. This will help not only in reduction of weight of existing MMGs but also increase their reliability and functionality," Lokesh Machines director M Srinivas told TOI. The MMG's design also incorporates a single-piece machined receiver and a chromium-plated barrel for extended durability, Srinivas said. Trump non-committal on whether extra India tariffs will go with Russia-Ukraine ceasefire

U.S. President Donald Trump did not confirm whether the additional 25% tariffs he had announced on Wednesday (August 6, 2025), on Indian exports to the U.S., for New Delhi's trade in arms and energy with Moscow, would be cancelled if Russia and Ukraine agreed to a ceasefire. 'Well, we'll determine that later, but right now, they're paying a 50% tariff,' Mr. Trump told a reporter who asked if the additional 25% tariff on top of the 25% 'reciprocal tariff', would go following a ceasefire. Mr. Trump was taking questions at an event at the White House with Apple CEO Tim Cook. The President said he would be imposing a tariff of 100% on computer chips and semiconductors, while announcing that Apple would invest $100 billion in the U.S. Mr Trump had reportedly told European allies on Wednesday that he would have an in-person meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin as early as next week and had plans for a follow-up with Mr. Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Also, on Wednesday, Mr. Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff met with Mr. Putin on Wednesday. Talks 'productive' Mr. Trump described the talks as 'productive' and said he did not know if the additional tariffs on India had anything to do with this. 'And as you know, we put a 50% tariff on India on oil. They're the second largest [purchaser of Russian oil]. They're very close to China in terms of the purchase of oil from Russia. So, I don't know if that had anything to do with it, but we've had very productive talks today,' he said. After imposing additional tariffs on India for trading in arms and energy with Russia, U.S. President Donald Trump said other countries could follow suit, suggesting China by name as a possibility. Asked why he was 'singling India out' for additional tariffs, Mr. Trump said, 'It's only been eight hours. So let's see what happens over the… You're going to see a lot more. You're going to see so much secondary sanctions,' he said.
