After a whirlwind 12-hour flight, musician
Jackson Wang
wasn't prepared for a surprise massive welcome to Mumbai. Landing in the city on Tuesday morning, by noon he was already immersed in its vibrant culture.
From playing cricket on Juhu beach to savoring Mumbai's iconic vada pav and paani puri, Jackson explored the city with Bombay Times.
'I just landed into this massive big production ceremony. I wasn't prepared for it, ' the 31-year-old quips.
'Dahi Puri is my favourite'
During an exclusive photoshoot with Bombay Times, Jackson tried Mumbai's street food - Vada Pav and Paani Puri. 'Although it was a little spicy, I really like it. That thing they put in the middle, the mashed potatoes, I really love that.
However, my favourite was the Dahi Puri,' he tells us. Not stopping there, he squeezed fresh sugarcane juice on the bustling streets of Bandra, causing quite a stir—fans nearby were literally swooning at the sight.
Next stop was finding the perfect ethnic kurta for him, which he picked in ten minutes. "I will wear the Kurta on my way back home. And I will love to wear it in China, I think it will be a hit," he says.
Jackson later took a leisurely stroll on Juhu beach, where he was swiftly roped in by a group of youngsters for a game of cricket. Initially nervous, as he was playing cricket after a long time, the
LMLY
hitmaker got so grooved, that he did hit a few balls and even bowled a few.
'Playing cricket reminded me of my high school days. I had so much fun,' he shares with a nostalgic smile.

'Mumbai was the place I really wanted to come'
This marks Jackson's second sojourn to India—the first being in 2023 for a concert. 'I feel every time when I visit a place it's always been about following a schedule. This time, I just wanted to travel as a human, explore off the beaten path, dive deep into the local market. Mumbai was the place I really wanted to come to,' he adds.
His previous trip was star-studded, with Bollywood's
Hrithik Roshan
graciously hosting him for dinner. Rumours swirl about another meeting on the horizon. On that, Jackson remarks, 'He is a superstar. If he is free, I would love to catch up. But honestly, I just want to go everywhere, soak in the culture, and truly connect with the locals.' He also adds, "The last time when I performed in India, the energy from Mumbai was another level.
Everyone was partying like there is no tomorrow. They were having more fun than me.
One of the most meaningful and memorable experience today, aside from all these delicious food, was me being able to meet my community. I met a few such people today and it felt good."

'As an artist, you're supposed to express what happens to you'
Speaking about his music, Jackson emphasizes his hands-on approach: 'I direct and write everything myself.' His upcoming album,
Magic Man 2
, is yet another bold concept from the artist.
'There's no 'inspiration' per se. It's based on what I've experienced. As an artist, you're supposed to express what happens to you. This album is incredibly personal; it's about how you deal with emotions," he shares, adding, "I was brought into the entertainment industry at such an early age of 19. I didn't have experience in society or the industry. I just followed, shut up and listened to everyone.
But through 10 years, I experienced so much of the dark side and the curveballs of how reality and humanity is."
'I was blown away by Diljit's performance'
His latest track
Buck
features Indian singer Diljit Dosanjh, whom Jackson met at Coachella nearly four years ago. 'I performed right before him, and after my set, I watched his performance—I was blown away. I thought, 'I really want to work with him one day.' Then, two or three years later, I made a song and thought, 'Hey, Diljit would kill this.' So I invited him, and luckily, he said yes.'
Sharing a fun tidbit from their collaboration, Jackson laughs, 'When we met on set, he told me he had screenshotted a picture of me six months before I invited him because he liked my earrings.
I guess it was just meant to happen."

'Was awestruck by Hrithik's Ek Pal Ka Jeena'
Jackson also expresses deep admiration for Indian music and dance. 'Last time in India, Hrithik showed me his Ek Pal ka Jeena video, and I was awestruck. Indian music videos are next level—the dance isn't just dancing anymore. It's movement and emotion, expressing something beyond words." He gushes, 'I also love the movie RRR—the dance sequences are breathtaking. I've even watched The White Tiger and loved it's uncliched ending.
"
On a parting note, as his Mumbai exploration has just begun, the
Pretty Please
singer is looking forward to see another side of the city. "I want to witness and see another side of Mumbai," he concludes.

Aadar Jain: I am Kareena and Ranbir Kapoor's cousin, but that doesn't allow me to get 50 films a year (Exclusive)

Aadar Jain might have the legendary Raj Kapoor as his grandfather and share bloodlines with Bollywood stars like Kareena Kapoor Khan, Karisma Kapoor, and Ranbir Kapoor , but the actor insists his journey has been anything but easy. With two films, a web series, and years of auditions behind him, Aadar speaks to Bombay Times about why he doesn't buy into the 'nepo baby' narrative, how rejection has shaped him, and why Bobby Deol's career keeps him going. 'Our family is very bindass and chill, different from what people in the media might think' Born into one of Indian cinema's most illustrious families, one would assume he would be burdened under the pressures of proving his mettle for the legacy. He, however, clarifies, 'A lot of people ask me this question. But I would have been inspired. I have him (points at a photo frame of Raj Kapoor) over here every day to be inspired because he's my favorite actor, producer, director of all time. He's my biggest idol and my biggest inspiration. There's no pressure. Our family is very bindass and chill, different from what people in the media might think. We all have our own journeys. However big or small, I'm also contributing in my own small little way to Indian civilization. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Brother Donates Kidney To Save Sister's Life. 'I am Kareena and Ranbir Kapoor's cousin, but that doesn't allow me to get 50 films a year' While the industry often talks about nepotism, however, Aadar sets the record straight that he is not the byproduct of it. 'I've had two films that have come out. Unfortunately, the gap has been quite a bit. Everyone has their journey and I'm on that journey. So, I'm just enjoying what I do,' he says. He adds, 'I've not taken those gaps out of choice. It's also been very difficult to get films. Coming from a film family doesn't mean you get work here easily. That's a fact. People talk about nepotism, but I've not got benefits of it. Yes, I am Raj Kapoor's grandson, I am Kareena and Ranbir Kapoor's cousin, but that doesn't allow me to get 50 films a year or like doing five films and signing brand deals and endorsements nonstop. Unfortunately, in that sense I've not been a product of nepotism." 'It has been a struggle' The actor doesn't shy away from speaking about how difficult it's been to land roles, the heartbreak of rejection, and the resilience required to keep going. 'It's not been easy,' he admits. 'It has been a struggle. I have auditioned for a lot of places. I've been rejected many times. It's hard to deal with those rejections. I love what I do. So, when you're not getting to do what you love as often, of course, it hurts. The idea is to keep picking yourself up and pushing yourself. Staying motivated is the most important thing in this profession. It's not an easy profession. It's been a tough journey. Hopefully, my lady luck will give me lots of luck and love (smiles),' he elaborates. He adds, "I keep looking at Bobby Deol's career. Look at the guy! He spoke on national television about how failure and rejection really bogged him down, but then how he picked himself up. And the idea of life is to keep moving forward." He also adds, "I look at my own journey. I'm proud of myself. However long it's taken. Good, bad, ugly, flops, doesn't matter. It's all a lesson. The fact that I can even be part of two films and people are watching me and I'm now coming into other things. My first film was very critically acclaimed, but it didn't work at the box office. The second film came out in the time of COVID where it was seen by everyone but was also critically acclaimed. So, there has been also a big struggle for me to get the work that I want to do. I've been auditioning for the last 8 years, done two films. Luckily, I have Dining with the Kapoors coming out so hopefully things will pick up once people see my work. Because work gets you work. Until people see your work, you don't get work." 'A lot of actors who are getting launched have had three films already' Aadar who has been part of movies like Qaidi Band (2017) and Hello Charlie (2021), confesses he has no regrets about the rejections he has faced. 'All the rejections I had in my life, I realized they're all lessons. I have no regrets. Everything is a lesson. Everything teaches you, and eventually you will get okay. It took me a long time to get my third project. A lot of actors nowadays who I see are getting launched—they've had three films already done and they're waiting for those releases, and they're still signing more films and doing it right. It's taken me a little bit of time," he elaborates.

Netflix's 'The Royals' actress Bhumi Pednekar on Raksha Bandhan celebrations: 'When dad passed away...'

The actress added, 'Through the years, we met some incredible people who are now our Rakhi brothers. I have so many Rakhi brothers.' read more Bhumi Pednekar and Samiksha Pednekar are best friends first and sisters later. Recently, they even took a step ahead by becoming business partners as well. On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, Bhumi and Samiksha delve into their bond, sharing how it has deepened over the years, especially after the demise of their father. Bhumi told Bombay Times in an interview, 'My mom has our pictures of us tying rakhis from the time we were little kids. Over the years, the meaning of the ritual has changed for us. As its core, Raksha Bandhan for us is all about supporting your sibling, protecting them and just being there for each other.' Samiksha adds, 'Rakhi would start 10 days before the festival. We would go rakhi shopping and send rakhis via post to our cousin brothers. In fact, to this date, we do that." STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD The actress added, 'Through the years, we met some incredible people who are now our Rakhi brothers. I have so many Rakhi brothers. It just happens naturally sometimes that you meet some people, and they feel like family. Nikhil Shetty, who I bonded with during my initial years as an actor, is my rakhi brother. He was Shanoo Sharma's rakhi brother and that's how I met him. He's one of the strongest people I know, and he's supported me so much. I lost my father, and he just took on that role so beautifully in my life.' On standing up for each other It just happened very organically. It was the correct thing for me to do for my family. We all stood up for each other. We all had our days and our moments. That's what a family unit does. You stand up for each other when the other person is falling. To date, the only person who truly, even emotionally, protects me from the world is my sister. Nobody can say anything about me in front of Samiksha. She can go up against the world for me. Now, we are just not sisters, we are co-founders of a venture we started. Without defining boundaries, we have figured out each other's boundaries. On a lighter note, the beauty of our relationship is that we fight every five minutes. They might look like fights to the world, but to us, it is a way of communication.
