After a year-long break from lead roles,
Vijay Deverakonda
is back—and how! 'Kingdom', his much-hyped action drama directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, is already making massive waves even before its official release.
Fans, popularly known as the "VD Army", have shown up in huge numbers. In just 24 hours, over 1 lakh tickets were snapped up across ticketing platforms, signaling a roaring comeback for the star. Despite his recent setbacks with Liger, Kushi, and The Family Star, Deverakonda's audience appears to be placing full faith in Kingdom.
A global surge in pre-sales and hype
As reported by Deccan Chronicle, the excitement isn't just domestic. 'Kingdom' is seeing a strong global response as well.
In the US, more than 15,000 tickets were sold for premiere shows, with collections now crossing the 4,00,000 dollar mark. Back home, the film has already raked in Rs 6 crore in advance bookings, mostly from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, and an additional Rs 50 lakh from Karnataka. The trailer and the popular track "Ragila Ragila" seem to have done the trick, reigniting excitement around Vijay's mass appeal.
With grand premiere shows set for Thursday (July 31), the buzz is only getting louder.

Trade bets big on record-breaking opening
With a reported budget of Rs 130 crore and theatrical rights sold at Rs 54 crore, the stakes are high. To break even, 'Kingdom' needs to cross the Rs 108 crore mark at the global box office. But early signs are promising. Analysts predict the film may cross Rs 15 crore in advance bookings and could even touch Rs 20 crore before the first show rolls. If it delivers, Kingdom could become Vijay Deverakonda's second Rs 100 crore hit after Geetha Govindam and redefine his box office standing.
For fans and the industry alike, 'Kingdom' is more than just a movie—it's a moment which marks the long awaited comeback of VD.

Who was Amitabh Bachchan's first girlfriend? Used to scold him publicly, worked in..., her name is…

Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan have been married for more than 50 years. They met for the first time on the sets of the 1971 film 'Guddi', but Jaya was not the first woman Amitabh Bachchan fell in love with. Celebrity biographer Hanif Zaveri recently shared the story of Amitabh Bachchan's first love and his breakup with that woman in an interview. He said that the two fell in love even before Amitabh came to Bombay, but they broke up before the release of his first film, 'Saat Hindustani'. In a conversation with the YouTube channel 'Meri Saheli', Hanif said that his love story with a woman named Maya started when he used to work in Kolkata and earn around Rs 250-300 per month. Hanif told, 'At that time, she used to work in British Airways. Amitabh Bachchan loved her very much and she also loved him very much.' Who was Amitabh Bachchan's first girlfriend? He further said that after the Kolkata job, Amitabh Bachchan came to Mumbai in search of work in films and initially stayed in a bungalow in Juhu, which belonged to his mother Teji Bachchan's friend. Since Maya often visited them and his mother's friend also lived in the same house, Amitabh feared his mother finding out about their relationship. 'So he decided to leave the house,' Hanif said. Amitabh Bachchan had to change his house At this time, Amitabh was working on his first film 'Saat Hindustani', in which he was working with Mehmood's brother Anwar Ali. He said, 'He told his concerns to Anwar, and Anwar understood his concerns. So Anwar gave him a place to stay in his house.' He further said that Anwar had taken an apartment from Mehmood and Amitabh lived in this house for some time. Amitabh's girlfriend used to scold him because… He said, 'He and Maya stayed together for some time, and maybe they could have even got married, but at that time Amitabh's career was not stable. In those days, Amitabh was a very shy person, and Maya was very clever. Sometimes she did not even care who was sitting with him, and she used to talk to him as per her wish, even scold him. Anwar Ali and the rest of Amitabh's friends did not like this at all. And Amitabh also used to get scared of

When Salim-Javed predicted that 'Sholay' will make Rs 1 crore per territory, more than Rajesh Khanna's 'Haathi Mere Saathi' which collected Rs 90 lakhs per territory: 'People made fun...'

Amitabh Bachchan , Dharmendra , Sanjeev Kumar, Hema Malini, Jaya Bachchan, Amjad Khan starrer 'Sholay' is now considered the biggest film of Hindi cinema. It's a cult and how. And just as the movie is set to complete 50 years now on August 15, here's recalling the fact that the film was considered a flop initially. Everything went against the film, people thought that the movie has lots of 'wrong' things which made it a huge flop. The end saw Amitabh Bachchan dying and the makers also considered changing the climax because it was not working. But things changed and how. In an old interview with Rajeev Masand on News18 Showsha, Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar who are the writers of 'Sholay' spoke about the film and how it made history. The legendary duo Salim-Javed, was asked that when 'Sholay' initially released, it was called a flop. They were asked, 'The Sippys (Ramesh Sippy and team) also got into damage control but you guys stopped them and said nothing has to be changed." Reacting to it, Salim Khan said, "That time the maximum business was done by 'Haathi Mere Saathi', which was Rs 90 lakhs per territory. So, we just went ahead and added about Rs 10 lakhs and said, Sholay will do more than Rs 1 crore in each territory. People started laughing, making fun of us and they thought Rs 1 crore yeh all India ka total business hoga. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Buy Resmed AirSense 11 with flat 20% off ResMed Buy Now Undo But we went wrong and terribly wrong as the film actually made more than that. It made Rs 2-3 crore per territory." Javed Akhtar recalled, "A Trade magazine had taken out a supplement and said, 'Why Sholay has flopped?' They put out the reasons because everything was wrong with it. The casting is wrong, the emotions were negative, all that was written in it." Salim Khan added further, "They also said, Dharmendra, Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjeev Kumar unke saamne aapne ek naya villain khada kiya hai. He became the biggest villain eventually. " Akhtar chuckled and said, "A major film star who is totally devoid of sense of humour, he said you have given a negative feeling. A friend goes and destroys his friend's marriage and is this funny?" Clearly, against all odds, the movie was a huge hit at the box office and proved to be a cult. The film, its songs, dialogues and the characters are still celebrated over the years. 'Sholay' was made under a budget of Rs 3 crore and went on to earn Rs 15 crore that time. As per today's inflated prices, 50 years later, the collection would be considered much higher.
