CG has put last nail in coffin of Maoism: CM Sai on Abujhmarh encounter
Raipur: Chhattisgarh Chief minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Thursday said that the state govt has put the last nail in the coffin of Maoism with the killing of top Maoist leader Nambala Keshav Rao alias Basavaraju by security forces in Abujhmarh encounter.
Basavaraju was the top most Maoist serving as the general secretary of the outlawed Communist Party of India (Maoist) and a political bureau member. He was among 27 Maoists gunned down by District Reserve Guards in the forest along the border of Narayanpur and Bijapur districts on Wednesday.
Briefing the press on Thursday in state capital, CM Sai said, Basavaraju carried a collective reward of Rs 3 crore on his head which included Rs 1 crore bounty declared by Chhattisgarh govt, Rs 1 crore by Union Ministry of Home Affairs, Rs 50 lakh declared by National Investigation Agency, Rs 25 lakh each by Andhra Pradesh and Odisha governments, CM said.
Basavaraju alias Gaganna who was considered as the backbone of the outlawed Maoist movement, and served as number one among the Maoists, he said.
Sai added, With Basavaraju's elimination, we have succeeded in breaking the backbone of Maoists. The credit for the success goes to the valour and courage of our brave security forces.Guns and talks cannot go together. Naxalism has destroyed the lives of innocent tribal people and today every person of Bastar wants development.

On Pakistan, the challenge will be to ensure the global community, particularly the UN Security Council where Pakistan is a member, shows understanding about the punitive terms India has set out in the 'new normal' against Pakistan-sponsored cross-border terrorism. This will be critical in the event of another terrorist attack from across the LoC. The all-party delegations have made a beginning but there's more to be done, while being mindful of the risks of India-Pakistan re-hyphenation that such an exercise might entail. Managing the relationship with the US will be another pressing challenge in the second year of Modi 3.0. Modi has also shown interest in rebuilding ties with Canada by accepting his counterpart Mark Carney's delayed invitation for the G7 but this will be subject to Ottawa's handling of Khalistani separatists and also the probe into Nijjar murder that wrecked the relationship. Signs of improvement in Pakistan-Taliban ties and the proposal to expand CPEC into Afghanistan might pose a few problems too. All in all, a riveting, action-packed year is what awaits Modi 3.0.

NEW DELHI: India will go deep into Pakistan to hit terrorists if they provoke the Indian govt with terror attacks, foreign minister S Jaishankar said while stressing that India will not live with terrorism anymore. In an interview in Brussels, he said Pakistan had trained thousands of terrorists and was ready to unleash them on India. Asked about China's support to Pakistan, the minister warned against double standards on the issue of terrorism. "They have had close ties for decades. But on an issue like terrorism, you cannot afford ambiguity or double standards. In the end, it's a problem that concerns all of us," said the minister. The message to the terrorists, he said, is that there is going to be retribution, and that retribution will be against the terrorist organisations and the terrorist leadership. "We don't care where they are. Jharkhand Congress to meet over SC welfare Senior Congress leader Radha Krishna Kishore on Monday said that the Jharkhand unit of the party would convene a state-level meeting on June 11 to formulate a roadmap for the socio-economic development of the Scheduled Caste (SC) community. Kishore, also the Jharkhand finance minister, said that the alliance government in the state is committed to establishing an advisory council and a commission for the SC community soon. 'The Jharkhand Congress has convened a meeting with senior leaders and activists from the SC community to develop a strategy for the socio-economic development of the community in the state,' Kishore said while addressing reporters. KCR may appear before Kaleshwaram probe panel Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) president and former Telangana CM K Chandrashekar Rao is likely to appear before the judicial commission probing the alleged irregularities in Kaleshwaram project Wednesday, party sources said on Tuesday. KCR, sought to appear before the panel on June 11 instead of June 5, the day he was earlier summoned, they said. The commission had last month issued notice to KCR for appearance as part of its ongoing inquiry. The damage to the barrages of Kaleshwaram project was a major issue during the 2023 assembly elections in the state. Telangana Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy recently announced that the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA) has labelled the Kaleshwaram project, built at a cost of over Rs one lakh crore, to be 'probably the biggest man-made disaster in the country'. – With PTI inputs
