NSL Unwrapped: Lightning and Pulse secure top four
London Mavericks took a huge step forward in the battle for fourth as they beat Nottingham
Forest while Manchester Thunder took the northern bragging rights with victory over NIC Leeds Rhinos.
Lightning secure top four
Loughborough Lightning became the first team to book their places in the Netball Super League Play-Offs with a 71-54 victory.
Samantha Wallace-Joseph led the scoring for the visitors at the Utilita Arena in the Welsh capital as she was rewarded with the Kissimmee Player of the Match.
Down the other end of the court, Alice Harvey helped to restrict the Dragons shooters, who shot at 81% compared with Lightning's 93%.
Pulse pounce on Panthers to make play-offs
London Pulse secured their spot in the semi-finals with a 63-58 win over Birmingham Panthers.
The hosts found themselves behind after the first quarter as Panthers were clinical from within the goal area, before Pulse responded to lead at the break.
The team in pink slowly eked out a greater gap as changes to their seven proved fruitful.
And despite Panthers piling on the pressure late on, Pulse did enough to come away with a narrow win.
Mavericks make their mark
London Mavericks staked their claim for a top four spot as they defeated Nottingham Forest 57-48.
Emily Andrew was at her free scoring best with 42 goals, but it was Razia Quashie who stole the show as she restricted Forest's star shooter Rolene Streutker to just 21 goals.
The result pushed Mavericks six points clear of Forest in fifth with three games of the regular season left to play.
Thunder win War of the Roses
Manchester Thunder triumphed in a 69-55 win over northern rivals NIC Leeds Rhinos.
The away side made a lightning-fast start at the First Direct Arena in Leeds as quick scoring and a buzzer-beating goal from Elmeré van der Berg pushed Thunder out to an 11-point lead after the first 15 minutes.
The northwest-based outfit further increased their advantage before Rhinos were able to get a foothold on proceedings, reducing the deficit to just six at half time.
There was an immediate reaction in the third quarter as Manchester Thunder's defence began to turn the screw.
The gap remained thanks to a professional performance in the final quarter from Thunder who saw out their eighth win of the season.
History made at the Copper Box
England Thorns made history as they took on the Australian Kelpies in the curtain-raiser to Pulse's match on Sunday.
Their 63-34 defeat to the team from Down Under marked the first match in a maiden series between England and Australia on English soil.
The final two matches of the three-game Aurora Series will take place next weekend, with the Thorns taking on the Kelpies before Loughborough Lightning and London Pulse's home matches in Round 12.

John Mousinho hails impact of Portsmouth debutant Adrian Segecic
Australian Segecic, a summer signing from FC Sydney, struck in the 38th minute of his debut with a sharp follow-up finish after Jamie Cumming saved from Colby Bishop. Mousinho said: 'I thought it was a really good performance for 60 minutes. 'We controlled the game in the first half and I thought we deserved the lead. We created by far the better chances of the game. 'Naturally towards the back end of the game there was a lot of pressure on our goal with the corners and long throws, which we dealt with largely pretty well. 'There were just a couple of mistakes we made which led to a build-up of pressure. 'But overall I'm extremely pleased. We're not going to be the finished article by any means on August 9 but it's something to build on, and a clean sheet as well. 'Segecic was great not just to get the winning goal but his workrate was superb as well. 'His pressing was great and he picked himself up into some very nice pockets at times, so I was really impressed with him on his debut. Oxford head coach Gary Rowett did not blame Cameron Brannagan, whose mistake started the attack that led to Segecic's goal. Rowett said: 'It was one mistake and that was the main factor in the game. 'Other than that Portsmouth edged the game without creating a lot of moments, but one mistake gives them that little bit of impetus to hold on to, and they defended well. 'Michael Helik could maybe have dropped just a little bit deeper when Cammy made that mistake – he wouldn't normally make that pass, but he's been brilliant for us previously and it is what it is, just one mistake, probably a lack of concentration. 'It was a physical encounter. Probably for most of the first half and a little bit of the second half we were a little off it and couldn't quite connect possession together well enough. 'We had some moments but couldn't move quickly enough to not allow them some moments in the final third, and we allowed them to dictate some of those moments. 'There wasn't much football or fluidity in the game, every chance seemed to come from a mistake. 'But I thought the last 20 minutes was exactly what you would hope – there was more of an edge to us and more quality, there were some great balls in the box and more shots. 'We really should punish one of those – of course Nicolas Schmid made a couple of very good saves, and Jamie made one for us in the first half. 'But from that last 20 minutes I thought we deserved something from the game.'

Stevenage's first-half showing against Rotherham ‘above Wrexham'
It was the same score as that victory over the Welsh side in October and came with a superb hard-working effort matched by this success over the Millers. Jamie Reid's deft header after 40 minutes had given Boro an interval lead and they should have put the game to bed as they passed up a succession of chances in the second half. Revell said: 'For me, the first half was one of the best I've seen. I put that above Wrexham. 'I thought we had everything. We had energy, the start we wanted where we asked for runners in behind to get crosses and shots. 'That was an excellent performance and then second half, you saw a resilient team that put their bodies on the line in certain moments. 'We had 12 shots and not enough on target but we restricted them to five and none on target. 'That tells a story from the game. It was only going to be a set-piece they scored from because other than that, we were strong and dominant.' And the boss had praise for Northern Ireland international Reid as he followed up a brace in the win over Blackpool last time out. He added: 'All of a sudden we've got wide players and overlapping full-backs that want to put crosses in the box. 'The delivery for the goal was right and the movement was right, but the execution of his header was top class. It was another performance where he just grows. 'I'm delighted for him as it's his hard work and energy that gets us the win.' Rotherham manager Matt Hamshaw was left to look at what ifs in a toothless display that brought no shots on target. He said: 'I'm disappointed and frustrated but I know what we've got in this group. 'We're up and down and we've got to stop this not turning up for halves of football. 'First half we didn't turn up. We could have gone in 0-0 at half-time but they get the lead and then they're hanging on a little bit, but we were huffing and puffing and not creating a lot. 'I'm not going to rant and rave as it's only the second game of season, but the levels have got to improve as we didn't show anywhere near enough quality. 'Stevenage are a hard-working team and they put balls into the box, but I felt for the majority of the game we dealt with that. 'But they could have arguably won 2-0 or 3-0 with the chances created, albeit on the counter attack – and it didn't look like we had much.'
