Man United 'set to hold talks with European giants' TODAY over Jadon Sancho deal - as Red Devils try to move on outcast this summer

Daily Mail5 hours ago

Manchester United are reportedly set to discuss Jadon Sancho 's future with a major European club.
The Red Devils are looking to offload Sancho after Chelsea paid a £5million fee at the end of his loan to escape their £25m obligation to sign him.
Sancho has not played for United in the Premier League since August 2023 after an explosive falling-out with then-manager Erik Ten Hag.
The Sun reported on Tuesday how Jose Mourinho is willing to offer the 25-year-old a lifeline at Fenerbahce.
But it now appears that an even bigger fish has entered the pond, with Juventus set to hold a video call with United over Sancho on Wednesday, as per Gianluca Di Marzio.
Sancho's £250,000-per-week pay packet could be a stumbling block and United had to pay around £100,000 of that when he joined Borussia Dortmund on loan in 2023-24.
The former England star had hoped to reboot his career in London after falling out of favour at United due to his clash with Ten Hag.
Ten Hag had criticised Sancho's performances in training after he was left out of a squad to face Arsenal in 2023, with the player branding the words 'completely untrue' in a social media post that was later deleted.
But Sancho struggled for consistency over the 2024-25 season, though did score in the Conference League final against Real Betis, which Chelsea won 4-1.
That said, he did become a popular player within the Chelsea changing room and did himself more favours than if he had stayed on the sidelines at Old Trafford.
Sancho had flashes of brilliance for Enzo Maresca's side - fans even sang his name as he came off the bench to set up the winner against Bournemouth in September.
For the 23-time England international, this was a move to the club he had supported as a child and a chance to rebuild his reputation after a middling spell at United.
United signed Sancho for £73m in 2021 after being impressed by his scintillating form at Borussia Dortmund, but he never reached the heights he had in Germany.
Sancho proved has still has quality in his locker at Chelsea, as seen in his daring run and stunning finish from outside the box against Tottenham in December.

But he was ultimately unable to bring end product on a consistent basis, scoring five and assisting 10 in 42 games across all competitions.
Sancho's contract with United runs until 2026 and includes the option of a further year.
Ruben Amorim's system does not accommodate wingers and therefore it is likely to see him getting squeezed out.

Will Kerkez offer an offensive boost?

Former West Ham and Wolves first-team coach Edu Rubio says Milos Kerkez has "great potential to grow even further" at Liverpool. "Milos Kerkez is a fantastic and a much-needed addition to Liverpool's squad. He is versatile; he can play left-back, left wing-back and even left centre-back," Rubio said."He has got great potential to grow even further on; yet Andy Robertson still has better offensive stats than him. Maybe because of the context/teams etc; but his numbers show his attacking input is remarkably good."Kerkez's solid defensive stats and his physical aptitude can offer Arne Slot a different option down the left flank. They are both excellent full-backs, but they are both different and unique."Milos' interceptions and clearances stats show he can make Liverpool even more difficult to break. Offensively his ball progressive carries is very good; which can help his team penetrate into the opposition's half faster, aggressively and efficiently. This can support Liverpool's offensive game too, no doubt."

I don't miss managing England

Former England manager Sir Gareth Southgate says he does not miss managing the Three Lions and carrying the "weight" of the job. The 54-year-old stepped down as England manager last summer after his side were beaten in the Euro 2024 final by guided England to two European Championship finals during his seven-and-a-half years in charge, finishing runner-up on both fourth-placed finish England achieved at the 2018 World Cup was the side's best performance at a major tournament since 1990. But the former Middlesbrough manager, who was knighted on Wednesday for his services to English football, says he does not miss being in charge of the team. "It is a little bit strange (watching the team) but also I'm not missing it," Southgate told BBC Sport."I think it's important that I am on that sofa and out of their way, you know, it's theirs to take on now and I think it's important that I give the team as much space as possible." Southgate became the fourth England manager in history to be knighted, after Sir Walter Winterbottom, Sir Alf Ramsey and Sir Bobby if he missed parts of the job, Southgate said it was a relief to no longer carry the expectations of a nation."I think it's hard to describe because until that weight's gone you don't necessarily realise just on a day-to-day basis, you know, every hour of my day was thinking about how do I make England better, what's happening with the players, how do we do things differently," he added."So I think any leader of big organisations, you're constantly thinking about how to do your job as well as you can."Thomas Tuchel replaced Southgate as manager following Lee Carsley's interim spell in German has won all three of his World Cup qualifiers at the helm, but England were beaten booed off after losing a friendly against Senegal at the City Ground earlier this month. After taking charge of the side, Tuchel said Southgate's England did not have a clear identity and "were more afraid to drop out" of Euro 2024 "than having the excitement and hunger to win it". "I don't think it's important how I took it (Tuchel's criticism) or what I think," Southgate said."I think what's really important is for me to give the team, the manager, the space to operate. I think that's the right thing to do. "I've had an amazing experience leading my country, but it's time for them to take it forward now and I'll be a fan at home supporting it."

Krejcikova saves match points again to survive in Eastbourne

EASTBOURNE, England, June 25 (Reuters) - Wimbledon champion Barbora Krejcikova saved match points for the second successive day against a British opponent to reach the quarter-finals of the Eastbourne WTA 250 event on Wednesday. The 29-year-old Czech was troubled by a thigh strain and looked on the verge of being knocked out by Jodie Burrage when she served at 5-6 in the deciding set and fell 0-40 behind but she somehow turned it around to win 6-4 4-6 7-6(3). Second seed Krejcikova, who beat Italy's Jasmine Paolini to win last year's Wimbledon title, was leading by a set and a break of serve but needed treatment on her leg. Burrage, ranked 164th in the world, played impressively to hit back and broke Krejcikova's serve to level the match -- one point being awarded to her after a forehand from her opponent found its way through a hole in the net. The 26-year-old British player kept just ahead in the decider but she could not take any of the three match points that came her way and then a costly double-fault in the tiebreak offered up match points to Krejcikova, who made no mistake. Krejcikova, who also saved match points on Tuesday against home player Harriet Dart, has won two singles matches in a row for the first time in an injury-hit 2025. "Another tough match," Krejcikova, who also has a French Open singles crown to her name, said on court. "Brits know how to play on grass and it's hard to play against them but happy I'm through. "I was going through a difficult moment at the beginning of this year but I'm happy I'm here and can keep finding the level that I know I can reach."
