RAIPUR:
Two tribal locals were brutally killed by Maoists in Bijapur district of Bastar division in Chhattisgarh on the intervening night of Monday.
Bastar police in a statement issued, said that the incident took place in Tarrem region when 4 to 5 unidentified, armed Maoists attacked and killed two men using sharp-edged weapons at villages located 6-8 kms apart, having a security camp in between.
The victims were accused of working as police informers and the violence was carried by two separate groups of Maoists.
The Maoists had dragged the victims out of their houses and murdered them in front of the villagers, police said.
The victims have been identified as Kawasi Joga (approximately 55 years old), a resident of village Chhutwai, and Manglu Kursam (approximately 50 years old) from village Bada Tarrem. Kawasi was killed at around 1030 pm and Manglu around 2.30 am.
Police officials from Bastar have confirmed receiving information about the incident and are currently verifying the details. A team of cops was sent to the remote village for probe.
Security forces have recovered handwrittenwritten leaflets from the spots of crime. One of leaflet, stained in blood, stated that Manglu was working as police informer and despite several warnings, he didn't abide by the instructions given, hence, killed.

The Jagargunda area committee of CPI (Maoists) claimed the responsibility of the killing. Another leaflet by Pamed area committee stated the same for deceased Kawasi.
With back-to-backto back incidents of violence and killings in past six months, Bijapur and Narayanpur districts of Bastar division are on the top worst insurgency-affected places in the country, a CRPF official told TOI. He said, be it anti-Naxal operations, encounters, killing of civilians, recovery of blasting of IEDs, surrenders or arrests, two districts of Bastar are making it to the top in the list of insurgency.
Over ten civilians have been killed by Maoists in past 25 days including two school teachers in Bijapur district. Those on the target are mostly the relatives of surrendered cadres, or the surrendered ones themselves, or others are accused of working as police informers.
Local villagers are the among the easy accessible people for Maoists and are the most vulnerable ones, hence the threat of Maoists looms low upon those residing in interior regions of Bastar. Besides, the locals become victim to IEDs planted by Maoists to target security personnel.
On Sunday, a 16-year-old boy sustained severe injuries after coming in contact with a pressure IED that went off. He is presently receiving treatment and is in a poor condition.

CRPF jawan shot dead in Haryana's Gohana, days after brawl with village men during Kanwar Yatra

A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan was shot dead outside his residence late Sunday in Gohana in Haryana's Sonipat, days after he allegedly had a brawl with a few unidentified persons during the Kanwar Yatra in Haridwar. The police said the family of the deceased, identified as Krishan Kumar, a resident of Kheri Damkan village in Gohana, rushed him to the nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Kumar, who was posted in Chhattisgarh, had come home on leave about a month ago. He is survived by his wife and two children, one of whom was born three days ago. His wife is still in the hospital. 'Krishan had gone to Haridwar on July 22 for Kanwar Yatra. During that visit, he had a heated argument and a brawl with a few men from his village. It was late Sunday night that a few men from the village called Krishan out of his home at about 1 am Monday. The moment he stepped out of his home, he was shot at,' said Shrikant, Additional Commissioner of Police, Gohana. 'Hearing the gunshots, Krishan's family members rushed towards him, where he was found lying on the ground in a pool of blood. He was rushed to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival,' Shrikant added. Investigating officers said Kumar's family have named three men – Ajay, Anand, and Nishant of the same village — whom they suspect of killing their son. 'The FIR has been registered and multiple teams have been constituted to nab the accused who are yet at large,' one of the investigating police officers said. The police said they have constituted four teams, and are investigating the matter to identify and nab the assailants. Kumar's family members told the police that his wife was in the hospital after delivering the baby, and he had spent the entire Sunday with her. He had returned home late at night to take some rest. They said he was recruited about 11 years ago, and got married about seven years ago. His elder son is six years old, while the younger son was born three days ago. He had taken a one-month leave and reached home on July 16.

'Embarassing behaviour'UK screening fiasco lands T'wood's Fan culture in A big mess

Cineworld halted a Pawan Kalyan film screening in the UK after unruly fan behavior involving confetti throwing. This incident, along with others, prompted the MEA to advise Indian citizens abroad to respect local laws. What Happened A video clip showing staff at the UK theatre chain Cineworld halting a screening of Pawan Kalyan's Hari Hara Veera Mallu after sections of the audience threw confetti has put the spotlight on unruly Tollywood fan behaviour abroad. The screening was paused as staff addressed the disruption, prompting some moviegoers to argue that no prior notice had been displayed prohibiting such celebrations. However, the staff called it out for what it was: 'a lack of common sense' and the backlash was instant. MEA's advisory for Indians overseas to follow local laws The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) recently issued an advisory urging Indian citizens residing abroad to respect local laws and 'create a good image' of themselves and the country. The advisory comes in the wake of two unrelated incidents in the United States — one involving the detention of an Indian woman for allegedly shoplifting items worth over $1,300 (approximately ₹1.12 lakh) in Illinois, and another involving an Indian man detained on charges related to child pornography in Washington. 'Fans should absolutely enjoy the film, a film's release is a moment of joy and excitement for fans, and that spirit of celebration is a beautiful part of cinema culture. However, it's important to remember that the cinema is a shared space. While cheering for your favourite stars it should never come at the cost of others' experience' — Jithendra, Distributor 'Audiences, especially fans of stars, should carry themselves with decency and uphold a strong sense of responsibility. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like No annual fees for life UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now Undo For those who have moved abroad, it becomes even more important to respect local laws and follow their guidelines, thereby representing India positively on the global stage.
