Alesha Dixon surprises London commuters with impromptu rap performance
Alesha Dixon, the former Mis-Teeq star and Strictly Come Dancing judge, left fans in awe after she started rapping in a central London train station in a video that has now gone viral
Music fans are begging Alesha Dixon to return to her roots thanks to an iconic reminder of her rapping skills The Britain's Got Talent judge is better known as a TV star these days, but true fans remember her best as one third of garage group Mis-Teeq.
And the former Strictly Come Dancing star is more than happy to remind people she still has it. The mum-of-two, 47, gave an impromptu rapping session in busy London streets early this week - leaving fans all saying the same thing following footage shared on TikTok going viral.
The remarkable event took place at King's Cross Station, where Alesha stunned onlookers and began spitting bars. Comments flooded in on TikTok, with numerous fans admitting they "never knew" the star had it in her to drop rhymes spontaneously before an audience.
"She's showing the younger ones how it's done.", one TikTok user commented. Alesha, who initially rose to fame with the girl group Mis-Teeq, stole the nostalgia-stricken hearts of many fans who reminisced: "This takes me back 20 years and I love it!".
"Imagine taking time out to travel to King's Cross, expecting to see a musician performing only to discover Alesha Dixon on the mic," one stunned fan declared, with another raging: "The Mis-Teeq fans would have gone crazy... what is this crowd?"
Other social media sleuths have pinpointed exactly which tunes Alesha dished out, with Mis-Teeq aficionados delighted by her selection. One observer noted: "At the start, she's rapping from a Mis-Teeq album track called Nitro, which is on their second album, Eye Candy."
"Alesha Dixon is the best MC you're ever going to get, nails it every time. Legend status. No one can do it the way she does." Another fan reminisced: "This is the Alesha I know. Takes me back to my clubbing days!"
Alesha graced the stage with Mis-Teeq alongside Sabrina Washington and Su-Elise Nash between 2000 and 2005, with Zena McNally departing the ensemble in 2001.
Mis-Teeq might never have snatched the top chart spot, but they soared high with their first album 'Lickin' on Both Sides' peaking at number three.
The group's follow-up, 'Eye Candy', also notched a respectable position, hitting number six in the UK charts. Alesha's rendition of their street-side hits could spark chatter among fans longing for a Mis-Teeq reunion, but fans shouldn't hold their breath.
While other pop bands from the past like Blue and Steps have reunited after previous breakups, it seems all the Mis-Teeq ladies aren't exactly on friendly terms these days.
In January 2021, just three months before the 20th anniversary of Mis-Teeq's debut hit 'Why', it emerged that bandmate Sabrina Washington was planning to sue Alesha and former record label Universal over royalties.
It was claimed that Alesha had 'wrongfully' collected royalties from Mis-Teeq's first singles (which representatives for the star denied), with Sabrina reportedly seeking to reclaim some of the money.
At the height of the storm, a spokesman for Sabrina stated: "We are unable to comment on ongoing legal proceedings." When the Mirror Online reached out, Alesha's representative was clear-cut in their response: "My only comment on this is that there is no truth in the matter whatsoever."
The ruckus wasn't the first discord among Mis-Teeq's members, with Sabrina having been vocal about Alesha's talents in the past, bluntly stating that she "should have stuck to MC-ing because her voice isn't that strong."
It was in 2008 that former I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! contestant Sabrina took a jab at Alesha, criticising her vocal prowess post Mis-Teeq's break up.
In a biting remark made back in 2008, Alesha's ex-bandmate Sabrina said, "A lot of people say Alesha should have stuck to MC-ing because her voice isn't that strong and I agree. I did a lot of the work in Mis-Teeq,".
Addressing her experiences within the group, Sabrina didn't mince words, describing it as 'bittersweet' and sharing how she faced industry prejudice, being told she was "too dark to be on any covers" and that "black women don't sell magazines."
While there doesn't appear to be any love lost between Alesha and Sabrina, the Britain's Got Talent gets on better with her other former bandmate, Su-Elise. While on This Morning in 2022, Alesha candidly shared: "I'm exhausted, I'm not gonna lie. I've got new music coming. Music is what I do, it's something that I love."
"I don't call it a comeback. In 2023 I'm gonna make it a priority. I'll put something out, probably around April or May. It's a passion project. And I'm independent now so there's no pressure. There won't be a Mis-Teeq reunion anytime soon. I caught up with Su-Elise in Australia. She lives there now. Our babies were playing together. The Mis-Teeq babies!".

Strictly Come Dancing in talks with married reality TV star as BBC bosses back him to resist show's 'curse'
Strictly Come Dancing is reportedly in talks with a married reality TV star, as BBC bosses are convinced he won't fall victim to the show's infamous 'curse'. The so-called 'Strictly curse' has been a tabloid staple for over a decade - rooted in the idea that taking part in the show often spells trouble for contestants' relationships. Now, insiders reportedly claim producers are keen to sign none other than Paul Brunson. The clean-cut relationship expert is known for his roles on Channel 4 's hit shows Married At First Sight UK and Celebs Go Dating. The American star, who now lives in London, is seen as a safe option - and potentially just what Strictly needs following two drama-filled series. A source told The Sun: 'Paul would be the ideal tonic to the dark clouds over Strictly as he's clean-cut, very intelligent and has no scandals to worry about. 'They are now in discussion but he's met with producers a number of times. 'Everyone is hoping he'll sign on the dotted line and is keen to make it happen.' MailOnline has contacted the BBC and Paul's representatives for comment. It comes just days after a Gladiators star was rumoured to have signed up for this year's show after 'impressing' BBC producers on the Christmas special. The superhuman, 36, took part in last year's festive edition and was paired with professional dancer Nancy Xu. Nitro, whose real name is Harry Aikines Aryeetey, has reportedly agreed to appear on the regular series this autumn. A show insider told The Sun how the ex-Olympian had been on bosses' wish list for some time now. The said: 'Bosses have been desperate to get Nitro on the series for a while. 'They were in talks last year but couldn't get the timings to marry up with his work. 'He was a huge hit at Christmas prancing around in lycra and showing off his biceps. Producers were also impressed with his dancing. 'The Gladiators' fanbase is growing and kids love them so he'll be a hit with younger viewers, too.' MailOnline has contacted Nitro's rep and the BBC. Nitro previously hinted at a role in the main series when he revealed he would be taking part in the Christmas special with an injury. He told The Mirror: 'I am carrying an injury to some degree. It's been quite tough. I'm not my full self. Hopefully that's taken into consideration. But at the same time, I'm just here for a good time. I can dance, I can enjoy myself, that's the most important thing. 'Although I think we're going to do well and although I think we're going to have fun with it, it would be nice to do myself 100% justice by competing another time on the main series. 'It would be good to be in a position where I can show my ultimate self. I've got the bug. If the opportunity arises… it's obeing in an arena and learning a new skill. If the opportunity arises, I would jump at it, literally because I'll be able to jump by then.' Earlier this year Strictly Come Dancing confirmed the professional lineup for 2025. Dianne Buswell, who lifted the glitter ball in December with Chris McCausland, will be joining Nadiya Bychkova, Karen Hauer, Katya Jones, Neil Jones, Nikita Kuzmin, Gorka Marquez, Luba Mushtuk and Jowita Przystal in returning to the dance floor this September. Amy Dowden, who pulled out in the opening weeks of last year's show due to a foot injury, will also be back on Strictly for 2025, as will Carlos Gu and Kai Widdrington, who didn't have a celebrity partner last year. Despite rumours that he might be making a return after missing out on last year's series, Giovanni Pernice will not be heading back to the ballroom this time around. Sarah James, Executive Producer, BBC Studios said : 'The excitement is already building ahead of the new series and in addition to welcoming back our fantastic returning Pros, we are looking forward to welcoming two brand new Professional Dancers to the line up who will help bring another unforgettable series of dazzling dance and loads more besides to viewers later in 2025.'

Chaotic moment busker PUNCHES yob who slapped him across the face as chaotic brawl breaks out
A BUSKER has shared footage of him appearing to bravely defend himself against a group of yobs trying to disrupt his act. James Allan, who has more than 1.3m followers on TikTok, confronted the gang of thugs as they attempted to tamper with his equipment in Leeds city centre. 4 4 4 4 One hooded youth in a light blue body warmer even gives the impression that he is carrying a knife. In the video's on-screen captions, James wrote: "A gang of lads kept touching my guitar. "So I thought I'd put them on camera to stop them doing it again." As one of the boys approaches again, James tells him: "You can touch if you want. "I'll go on the TikTok Live and show everyone what you're doing." He then turns the camera to the group, who beat a hasty retreat once they realise they are being filmed. As they slink off, James asks the group: "Why are you hioding your faces? Do you want to touch my stuff again or what?" James' friend Brad then tips him off that one of the boys, wearing a jeans and a sleeveless pukka jacket that partially covers his face, is coming back. The intrepid busker goes to intercept the intruder - but it was only when reviewing the footage afterwards that he realised that the boy appeared to be reaching for what could be a knife. As James writes in the caption: "It's only upon watching this back do I realise he's reaching for his pocket. "Luckily I was able to grab his arms." Glasgow man appears to take money from buskers before teeth fall out in bizarre viral video The boy then slaps James with what appears to be an open palm, before James wades in and clobbers the attacker, plus several of his friends who also try to defend their mate. Several bystanders then step in to try and cool tensions. As James wrote: "People step in to break it up, which is good for me because there was about five of them. "People think they can just absue buskers and we won't defend ourselves." The boy in the puffa jacket then aims a kick at James, who catches his foot and pulls him to the ground. He then goes back to the mic and tells shoppers: 'I'm just trying to make a living, man. Do you know what I mean?' West Yorkshire Police have been contacted for comment. James posted the video on his social media accounts with the question: 'Was I right to defend myself?" One Facebook user said: 'Sometimes gotta stand up to bullies.' Another added said: 'Nice jabs mate…be careful though those little scabs will be back with knives.'
