The accused appeared in the Cape Town Magistrate's Court, where the State prosecutor formally announced the withdrawal.
Stanfield and Johnson will, however, remain behind bars as they face separate charges unrelated to the tender fraud case.
The matter has been plagued by ongoing delays, with the defence preparing to bring an application to have the case struck from the roll.
They argued that the State had prematurely arrested the suspects before finalising its investigation.

R50k reward offered for info on double murder at Bellville business in Cape Town
Western Cape police are offering a R50 000 reward for information on a double murder at a Bellville business last November. The victims - 40-year-old Chinese national Muadi Huang and 18-year-old bystander Enrico White - were shot dead in South Street, Western Cape police spokesperson, Captain FC van Wyk, said in a statement. South Africa spinner Subrayen cited for suspect bowling action
South African off-spinner Prenelan Subrayen was Thursday ruled out of the second one-day international against Australia after being reported for a suspect bowling action. The 31-year-old made his 50-over debut in the Proteas' thumping 98-run victory in the first ODI at Cairns on Tuesday, taking 1-46 including the key wicket of Travis Head. But in the match officials' report, concerns were raised about the legality of his bowling action. "The bowler will undergo an independent assessment of his bowling action at an ICC-accredited testing facility," the International Cricket Council said. Under cricket rules, a bowler is allowed 15 degrees of flex in their bowling arm, but anything more is deemed illegal. Subrayen remains available for selection while awaiting his assessment but South Africa coach Shukri Conrad said he would sit out the second game of the three-match series on Friday in Mackay. "We just felt, together with 'Subs' (Subrayen) that less noise, get him away and out of the public eye (and) just make sure that he's ok," Conrad told "That's why his name's not going to be on the teamsheet tomorrow. "We will obviously rally around him and make sure that he's in the best space," he added. It is another setback for South Africa, who are already without injured pace spearhead Kagiso Rabada. ODI series rocked as South African star suspended over 'suspect' act against Aussies
There's been an explosive fallout to the first cricket ODI between Australia and South Africa, with Adam Zampa copping an official warning from the ICC and Proteas all-rounder Prenelan Subrayen reported for a suspect bowling action. Subrayen will sit out the remaining two matches against Australia after being provisionally suspended by the ICC pending further testing. The 31-year-old took the key wicket of Travis Head in the first ODI in Cairns on Tuesday, snaring 1-46 from 10 overs as the Proteas won by 98 runs. It was Subrayen's ODI debut, but he might have to wait awhile to play his second match. The ICC announced on Thursday that Subrayen's action had been reported by match officials, and he'll now face an independent assessment of his action at an ICC-accredited testing facility within 14 days. He won't be allowed to play ICC-sanctioned games until being cleared. It's the same situation that Australian spinner Matt Kuhnemann faced when he was reported after the second Test against Sri Lanka earlier this year. Kuhnemann was later cleared and allowed to continue bowling after being tested. Prenelan Subrayen reported for third time in career It's the third time Subrayen has been reported after his action was first deemed suspect more than a decade ago. In December of 2012, Cricket South Africa (CSA) placed him under rehabilitation after two separate independent tests showed his action to be illegal, but he was cleared to bowl again in January of 2013 after re-testing. The off-spinning all-rounder was then reported twice in the following two years during matches, before he was eventually cleared to resume bowling after having his action examined at South Africa's national performance centre in March of 2016. In June he earned his first Test appearance for South Africa against Zimbabwe in Bulawayo, and was then handed his first ODI cap in Cairns on Tuesday. It comes as another blow for the touring South Africans, who have already lost star paceman Kagiso Rabada to injury with two more games to be played in Mackay on Friday and Sunday. After losing the T20 series 2-1, the Proteas are eyeing revenge in the ODI format. The leg-spinner has been slapped with a demerit point for breaching the ICC's code of conduct after he was caught using "an audible obscenity during an international match." The incident occurred in the 37th over of the Proteas' innings, when Zampa used inappropriate language after a misfield and overthrow off his bowling. The audible obscenity was picked up on the stump microphone and broadcast to the TV audience. Zampa admitted the offence and accepted the sanction, and no formal hearing was required. Players are suspended if they attract four demerit points within a 24-month period. Zampa took 1-58 in his 10 overs in Cairns, as well as making 11 with the bat. with agencies
