The S&P/TSX composite index was up 0.1% at 26,790.18 points, surpassing Tuesday's record intraday high of 26,780.19.

Healthcare stocks led the sectoral gains with a 1.7% rise. Bausch Health Companies, the parent company of contact lens maker Bausch + Lomb, rose 3.1%.
On the flip side, mining shares dropped 2.8%, tracking gold that fell to a near one-month low. Gold miners were among the top losers with Lundin Gold falling 7% to the bottom of the main index. Kinross Gold lost 5.7%.
Economic data on Friday showed Canada's economy contracted in April on a monthly basis as sectors exposed to tariffs negated a boost from services.

of Angus Gold. Shares of Wesdome Gold were down 2.9%.

Cheluvarayaswamy emphasised that Kempegowda, with remarkable foresight, constructed lakes and temples in Bengaluru over 500 years ago. "His vision laid the foundation for the development of not just Bengaluru but the entire Old Mysuru region," he stated, while also crediting Mysuru Maharaja Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar for his significant contributions. Highlighting the historical significance of the moment, the minister said, "In the last 100 years, the Krishna Raja Sagar (KRS) reservoir has never recorded such high-water levels in the month of June." The reservoir, he said, is currently supplying water to Mandya, Bengaluru, and the wider Old Mysuru region. Vijayawada: In what could be a big relief to the girl students of a government high school in Sullurpet, a leading Japanese automotive components manufacturer based in Sri City, Aisan Auto Parts India Pvt. Ltd in partnership with Sri City foundation, has completed the construction of washroom block. The girls high school which has more than 600 students has just 12 toilets. The girl students have been struggling in silence due to the shortage of washrooms for long. The automotive major has decided to construct an ultra-modern toilet block at the govt school soon after the issue came to its notice through Sri City foundation. The key infrastructure project, which was taken up under its CSR programme includes the construction of a kitchen room and a modern toilets block at the government high school for girls in Sullurupet. It has also taken up a well-designed building for the anganwadi centre in RC Puram village, located near Sri City. 1 2 3 Kolkata: Defence forces are keen to enrol more micro, small and medium enterprises from the eastern region, including Bengal, and have sought the support of leading chambers to work as a bridge with local MSMEs for defence manufacturing. At the BCC&I Atmanirbhar Bharat Award & Conclave in the city on Friday, defence officials appealed to the MSME sector to come forward. Arjun Kumar, additional director of directorate of technology development fund of DRDO, said the organisation was pushing new projects for developing indigenous capabilities. According to him, the number of projects from the eastern region was fewer compared to the south, especially Hyderabad. "There are a few companies from Assam and Bengal involved in the projects. There are 80 projects under the fund but only 4-5 from the east," Kumar added.
