, where he prioritised others' safety, despite having a chance to escape. While Hailyang's wife, who was holidaying with him, remains distraught, Khandu shared his valiant story on his X account.
"In the face of grave danger, Tage Hailyang demonstrated exceptional courage. He had the chance to escape but chose instead to protect those around him. Risking his own life, he guided civilians to safety, helping them escape the line of fire," Khandu wrote on his 'X' handle after visiting Tajang village in Arunachal's Lower Subansiri district on Thursday morning to honour Hailyang. Hailyang's mortal remains arrived at his home at Tajang village, near the district headquarters in Ziro, on Thursday morning.
Praising Hailyang's act as 'rare' and 'inspiring', Khandu met his wife, parents and family members to offer condolences.
As Hailyang's remains reached his residence at 7.30 am by road from Assam's Tezpur, villagers gathered, shouting "Tage Hailyang Amar Rahe" and "Pakistan Murdabad". His body arrived in Guwahati, via New Delhi, at approximately 11 pm on Wednesday and was received by Assam minister Jayanta Mallabaruah. It was then transported to the IAF base in Tezpur early on Thursday, before proceeding to Lower Subansiri.
District administration officials confirmed that Hailyang's last rites will be performed in the village on Friday. Acknowledging Hailyang's supreme sacrifice, Khandu announced employment for a member of Hailyang's family, Rs 50 lakh financial assistance and construction of a permanent memorial in his native village.
Tage Hailyang's educational journey began in Ziro and Haryana's Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram, followed by graduation from Don Bosco, Itanagar, before joining the
Indian Air Force
in 2017. He was scheduled to begin his new posting in Assam shortly.
"We strongly condemn this heinous act of terrorism. Pakistan's continued sheltering of terrorists is a grave threat to global peace," Khandu said, commending Prime Minister Narendra Modi's firm stance. "I am confident that under his leadership, the nation will respond with the strength and resolve that such a grave sacrifice demands," Khandu added.
"Late Tage Hailyang's legacy will endure. His name will forever be etched in the history of Arunachal as a symbol of valour and his sacrifice will inspire generations to come," he added.
Accompanying Khandu were Arunachal East MP Tapir Gao, BJP state president Kaling Moyong, Minister Gabriel D Wangsu, and MLAs Hage Appa and Nakap Nalo, who paid their final respects to Hailyang. "We strongly condemn this barbaric act of terrorism and salute the unparalleled bravery and courage of our fallen hero," Tapir Gao said.

Assam CM lays foundation, performs bhumi pujan for centralised community kitchen in Nalbari
Guwahati, (Assam) [India], June 7 (ANI): During his one-day visit to Nalbari, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday laid the foundation stone and performed the bhumi pujan for the centralised community kitchen of the Akshaya Patra Foundation at Gandhia. He also inaugurated the inspection bungalow constructed by the Nalbari District Territorial Building Division of the Public Works Department (Buildings & National Highways) at Ghograpar. Speaking at the foundation stone-laying ceremony in Gandhia, CM Sarma stated that the present state government has consistently worked to support people from all sections of society. Highlighting various initiatives for the socio-economic development of the poor and middle class, he mentioned that the centralised community kitchen, once completed, would bring tangible improvements to the region. The facility, estimated to cost Rs. 25 crore 33 lakh 90 thousand, would have the capacity to serve 25,000 students, covering Nalbari as well as parts of Tamulpur and Baksa districts. He noted the contributions of the Hare Krishna Movement and the Akshaya Patra Foundation in providing meals to government primary and middle English school students. He stated that, in addition to government support, these organisations invest their own resources, ensuring timely and hygienically prepared food delivery to schools. He said that individuals currently involved in the mid-day meal service would continue in their roles, focusing on distributing meals. He further stated that the new system would reduce the workload on teachers, enabling them to concentrate on academic responsibilities. Referring to past contributions during emergencies, he added that Akshaya Patra had also provided meals to flood-affected people in Kamrup district relief camps. Reflecting on the evolution of the mid-day meal initiative, the Chief Minister said he had initiated efforts in 2011, leading to the introduction of centralised mid-day meal services in the Jalukbari constituency during 2011-12. The programme was later extended to West Guwahati, East Guwahati, Dispur, and subsequently the entire Kamrup district. He further stated that Akshaya Patra is currently distributing mid-day meals in Jorhat, and construction of a centralised kitchen is underway in Majuli. He added that similar facilities would be developed soon in Dibrugarh, Lakhimpur, and Tezpur. Earlier in the day, he inaugurated the inspection bungalow constructed near Ghograpar Higher Secondary School on the road to Nalbari Medical College. The bungalow was built by the Nalbari District Territorial Building Division of the Public Works (Building & NH) Department with administrative approval of approximately Rs. 4.96 crore. The three-storey structure includes four VIP rooms, twelve deluxe rooms, a 60-seater conference hall, an office room, a reception area, and other general amenities, along with landscaping and parking amenities. 2k utensils in IIEST plate bank to reduce plastic use, waste on campus
1 2 Kolkata: IIEST Shibpur established a plate bank comprising 2,000 sets of reusable steel utensils as a step towards sustainability and a solution to waste management on the campus. The initiative is probably the first of its kind in any institute of national importance and aims to promote eco-friendly practices and minimise the use of single-use plastics and disposables during campus gatherings. IIEST director VMSR Murthy said, "The institute, in collaboration with Adyama Chetana Foundation, took this step to foster environmental consciousness and green practices in academic spaces as part of green and clean campus programmes. It is a first-of-its-kind initiative among all IITs and NITs in the country." According to him, around 1,000 sets of cutlery already arrived, and another 1,000 sets will arrive soon. "Throughout the year, different events are organised in the institute, and most of the time, plastic containers and disposable cutlery are used, generating huge amounts of waste. We want to change and avoid the 'use and throw' concept. Therefore, the plate bank was established to promote green dining for zero-waste events on the IIEST Shibpur campus. " The plate bank is housed in a room, which was once a telephone booth, near the second gate of the campus. It was inaugurated last Wednesday in the presence of officials, students, alumni, and industry personalities. Utensils worth Rs 5 lakh were bought. IIEST board of governors chairperson Tejaswini Ananth Kumar, who is also the chairperson of Adamya Chetana, said that the initiative will not only be limited to the campus but will spread outside as it has a larger purpose of impacting the community by collaborating with alumni and spreading awareness in the neighbourhood. "People in the vicinity can rent cutlery from our plate bank free of cost. They will have to keep a deposit at first to rent the utensils, and once they return it after washing, the money will be refunded. This is to target community engagement and spread a consciousness to hold zero-waste events," said Kumar. She shared that apart from the plate bank, there are also plans to promote sustainability and adopt other eco-friendly practices like making compost from household waste, workshops, and training on the preparation of chemical-free soaps and detergents, and bio-enzymes.

From 108 to top 20: Nuh rises among aspirational districts
Gurgaon: Nuh has made a leap from 108th to 20th position among India's 112 most backward districts in the aspirational districts programme. Chief minister Nayab Singh Saini credited the transformation to focused development in education, health, nutrition, and infrastructure since 2018. Saini announced several initiatives during the Mewat development board meeting to further improve the quality of education and boost skill development in the district. The govt Model Sanskriti School will now be supervised by the Mewat development authority instead of the education department. Construction of the Unani medical college in Akera and the Mewat model college in Ferozepur Jhirka will begin soon with a fresh tender, while the driving training and research Institute in Chhapera will start in Oct. Two transit hostels will also be set up at Mewat Model School in Ferozepur Jhirka. It was also decided that a library with a seating capacity of 200 children will be built at the Nuh district headquarters. Students enrolling in professional, technical, tourism, paramedical, and PhD courses will receive Rs 75,000 per year or 75% of tuition fees, whichever is lower.
