We consulted these foot and ankle experts for their tips on how to shop for men's house shoes and for insights into the most comfortable slippers available. Keep reading to find their picks for the best men's slippers on Amazon that will provide the most comfort and support for daily use.
Oncai Men's Clog Slippers
According to Dr. Miguel Cunha, board-certified foot surgeon and founder of Gotham Footcare, these slippers are 'an excellent choice for comfort and support. Made with a cotton blend upper and a clog-style heel, they're easy to slip on and off. The high-density memory foam insole provides superior cushioning, while the rubber sole ensures stability and prevents slips, making them suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.' Cunha says that since 'they are engineered with contoured arch support, these slippers help relieve foot pain, especially for people with high arches.'
Ugg Men's Tasman Slippers
Cunha also says he 'highly [recommends] the Ugg Tasman slipper for men," which are lined with the brand's signature plush wool shearling and have a durable, lightweight outsole. "Its easy slip-on design, combined with eco-friendly materials like sugarcane EVA and upcycled wool, offers exceptional comfort and sustainability,' he says.
Orthofeet Asheville Orthopedic Clog Slipper
Dr. Elizabeth Bass Daughtry, board-certified podiatrist and foot surgeon, says she likes how these slippers come 'with a premium orthotic insole for adequate arch support and offers adjustable side straps for a custom fit. With soft leather uppers, the slippers will be easy to clean and mold to your feet for further custom fit.'
Sorel Men's Manawan ll Slipper
Whether you're relaxing at home or running errands, the suede exterior, faux fur lining and rubber outsole of these slippers add comfort and reliability with traction and grip. Plus, the slip-on design makes them incredibly easy and quick to take off and put on.
European Softest Men's 80-D Memory Foam Diabetic Slipper With Adjustable Closures
Dr. Michael Nirenberg, clinical and forensic podiatrist at Friendly Footcare, recommends these slippers 'for men with diabetes, poor circulation or whose feet swell up quite a bit.' He also appreciates how 'this slipper allows you to adjust the width so the fit can be close to perfect.'
RockDove Men's Original Two-Tone Memory Foam Slipper
Cunha says these slippers offer 'easy on/off convenience with a breathable waffle knit upper and a memory foam insole that molds to your foot for superior cushioning and support. The durable rubber sole makes it ideal for quick indoor-to-outdoor use, while being non-marking and quiet on floors, and its machine washable for easy care.'
Vionic Gustavo Men's Slipper
'With Vionic's trademark arch support, this option is very supportive and versatile to wear around home or running errands in style,' says Daughtry. These slippers offer 'a durable synthetic outsole with excellent traction to withstand everyday wear even outdoors along with water-repelling coating on the suede upper. The lightweight EVA midsole offers excellent shock absorption and reduced stress on your feet and ankles,' she says.
Koolaburra by Ugg Men's Burree Slipper
Nirenberg says, 'The Koolaburra Burree by Ugg is a great, comfortable slipper for men who have healthy feet.' He especially likes that 'they provide warmth and comfort, while being very lightweight.'
Orthofeet Men's Orthopedic Leather Vito Hands-Free Slipper
Nirenberg recommends these slippers 'for men who need a good arch support for their feet.' He likes that 'it can be 'hands-free' as some older men have trouble bending over to put on their slippers.'
Dearfoams Men's Brendan Indoor/Outdoor Memory Foam Slippers
Daughtry says these slippers 'offer multi-density cushioned insoles with gel-infused memory foam and increased arch and heel cushioning for extra comfort." They can be worn inside or out thanks to a durable rubber outsole for traction, and DF adapt technology that helps keep feet cool and dry. "Another plus is that they are machine washable and offer various colors and wide widths," she says. Since men's slippers are worn daily inside the house and occasionally outside to pick up the mail and run other errands, these shoes should be durable, comfortable and offer support. Daughtry recommends looking for 'slippers that have good arch support, as you would any other comfortable shoe. People tend to forget the need for support of the feet when walking around their home. More often than not, many people have hardwood/laminate flooring and less carpet but this can be more harsh on bare feet and lead to multiple foot conditions,' she says.
Cunha recommends '[paying] close attention to details such as the width, heel height and strength of the arch to guarantee comfort. Ensure that the slipper is wide enough in the forefoot especially if you suffer from bunions, hammer toes and neuromas.' A wide toe box, with enough room for your toes to move without any pressure on them, will be the most comfortable and prevent irritation or sores.
Cunha also suggests '[looking] for a slipper that is rigid and not flimsy in the middle. If the slipper bends easily, you will not get adequate arch support.' Arch support is important for minimizing arch fatigue and discomfort, according to the podiatrist. Nirenberg agrees and says 'a good arch support is a must, as it can lessen strain on the foot and even help prevent aggravating an arthritic joint or flaring up plantar fasciitis (an inflammation of the ligament on the bottom of the foot that can cause heel pain).' Cunha also says to opt for slippers with 'a slight heel lift to reduce the stress and pain affecting the plantar fascia, posterior tibial and achilles tendons, which is commonly associated with arch pain.' He also emphasizes that 'it is important to pick a slipper that offers as much durability and protection as possible without sacrificing comfort or flexibility.'
Nirenberg says most people should wear slippers, noting that it can even be a safety hazard to not wear house shoes. 'It is not uncommon for people to see me for having a foreign object, such as a small splinter or piece of glass, in their foot from walking barefoot around their house,' he says. He 'especially [advises] men with diabetes, neuropathy or poor circulation to wear slippers to protect their feet. Beyond protecting our feet from stepping on something sharp, some slippers come with a good arch support.'
Nirenberg adds that 'walking around the house puts stress on our feet and a slipper with a good arch support is a good alternative to having to wear shoes all day.'
The following FAQs have been answered by podiatrists Dr. Miguel Cunha, Dr. Elizabeth Bass Daughtry and Dr. Michael Nirenberg.
What is the most comfortable material for men's slippers?
What is the most comfortable material for men's slippers?
Cunha provides a list of the most comfortable materials he recommends below. He notes that 'each of these materials are great for slippers and have unique benefits when used in a good pair of slippers. The choice of material depends on personal preference and the intended use of the slipper as it provides comfort, durability and versatility of use.'
Suede: Suede is soft and comfortable but is not the best material to wick away moisture.
Cotton: Cotton is not as soft as suede but is highly breathable and comfortable for lining of slippers. Cotton is not as efficient at wicking away moisture as wool, which can lead to less comfort if the environment is humid.
Wool: Wool is ideal for colder climates as it provides superior insulation and warmth. Wool is effective at wicking away moisture and keeps feet comfortable.
Polyester: Polyester is known for its durability. This material does not stretch, shrink or wrinkle easily and is often blended with other materials to provide strength and longevity.
Nylon: Nylon is resilient, fast drying and typically used to provide durability and strength.
Memory foam: Memory foam molds to the anatomy of the foot and is typically used in insoles for customized support and cushioning as it helps relieve pressure and distribute weight evenly across the foot.
Rubber: Rubber is typically used on the outsoles to provide protection and shock absorption of the foot as well as grip and traction of the sole.
Ethylene vinyl acetate: EVA is often used in midsoles as this material is lightweight, shock-absorbing and helps provide cushioning and comfort. Daughtry says, 'The most comfortable material would be sheepskin or wool/shearling as this allows for breathability' while still being 'warm and soft for the skin.' Daughtry notes that this material 'enables the slippers to be cozy but does not overheat the feet unlike synthetic materials which does not allow for wicking away sweat and can cause the feet to become too hot. Non-skid soles are also an issue to consider, especially for those that may have balance/stability issues or at fall risk.'
Should you size up or size down men's slippers?
Should you size up or size down men's slippers?
Nirenberg recommends his 'male patients who are looking to buy slippers to find one that fits on the loose side, as most feet swell a little — or in some cases, a lot — as the day goes on. If your feet do swell a lot, you may want to wear a slipper that is adjustable in width to give your feet more room when they swell up.'
Similarly, Cunha recommends trying on slippers at the end of the day to ensure an accurate fit. 'Fluid retention in your feet is the most prominent at the end of the day due to the cumulative effects of gravity,' he says. 'If the slipper fits well at the end of the day, they are most likely to feel comfortable throughout the day. If you are between sizes, buy a half size up from your usual size.'
Daughtry also says, 'Most slippers run true to size but consider if you will be wearing the slippers with socks and keep in mind the style and materials of the slipper. Size up if you are a half size or need a wider width shoe.'
How do you clean men's slippers?
How do you clean men's slippers?
Daughtry says that 'depending on the material, most slippers will need to be washed by hand or spot cleaned. Check the label or look online to see if your slippers are able to be machine washed.' If they are able to be machine washed, Daughtry recommends removing the insoles (if possible) and placing the slippers in a mesh bag and wash them on a gentle cycle. 'If unsure if the slippers are machine washable, try hand washing in warm water with mild detergent and use a soft cloth or brush to gently clean the slippers, rinse well and let the slippers air dry in a cool, ventilated place,' she says.
If they're not machine washable, Cunha suggests to 'start by spot cleaning most slippers using a damp cloth and mild dishwasher soap for smaller stains.'
If your slippers have a foul odor, Daughtry recommends you 'sprinkle some baking soda and let the slippers sit for a few hours then vacuum out the baking soda. Essential oils or spraying with Lysol can also be applied to the foot bed. If the slippers are made with leather, use a leather conditioner to keep leather soft and supple.' For regular cleaning, Nirenberg also recommends 'every day or two spraying them with Lysol spray and letting them air out before wearing them.'

24 Underrated Pet Products Actually Worth Purchasing
An allergy supplement to give your pup probiotics and other nutrients that help improve their immune system, aid digestion, and even promote healthy skin and a shiny coat. If your pooch suffers from unavoidable allergies making them itchy, this could provide them with some much-needed relief. Promising review: "I never write reviews but this one deserves it. My dog was compulsively licking herself and losing her hair. I had tried several other brands before Zesty Paws and none of them helped at all. Took her to the vet and after several hundred dollars of testing they had no idea what it could be. They didn't feel allergies could be THAT bad in a dog but all bloodwork and testing came back perfect. They told me to just keep watching her and hoped as the seasons changed so would the problem if it actually was allergies. Three seasons later and nothing had changed, it was actually getting worse. Finally tried these and WOW! She's been on these for a month and her hair is coming back and she isn't licking herself at all now. The first product to actually help! As others have said it does take a few weeks for a change to be noticeable, but when that change happens you won't be disappointed. Would definitely recommend when all else has failed!! Will be keeping her on these long term." —hgbGet a pack of 90 from Amazon for $32.97 (available in lamb, peanut butter, and salmon). A length-adjustable broom for pet hair that might end up replacing your vacuum (just kidding, you'll still want to vacuum because of dirt, dust, and surface pet hair), but its rubber bristles will remove all the embedded pet hair your vacuum misses. Just look at those pet-sized piles of hair in the photos! 😭 Promising review: "Nothing else would take pet hair off of my outdoor porch furniture cushions. This broom took it all off easily. One of the best brooms I have ever had for pet hair removal on floors and furniture." —Kelli ThompsonGet it from Amazon for $ out our FURemover broom review for more satisfying before and after photos! A simple stuffed duck because reviewers swear this plush dog toy holds up to even the fiercest of puppy teeth. So much so that your pup may even go from tough love to building a fur-ever friendship with it. If you need even more convincing, here's a review by BuzzFeed contributor AnaMaria Glavan on why the Multipet yellow duck toy is the best $8 she's ever spent (plus, cute photos of her pup!)Promising review: "My dog Hazel LOVES this duck! She has had it for nine months now, and it's still intact! It somehow made it through her teething as a puppy. She rips and tears apart all of her toys, but this one still looks decent!" —Emily AnnGet it from Amazon for $5.39. A bestselling stain and odor eliminator that's created with an enzymatic formula, so it goes beyond erasing the dirt of the stain to *literally* eating up the smell-causing compounds, too. If you have a pet or child and have to deal bodily messes (read: blood, vomit, urine, etc.), an enzyme cleaner like this one is the best choice to banish them — preserving your carpet, furniture, and upholstery, so you don't have to replace it completely. Basically, this will be your new secret weapon. You can store up to 12 meals in this feeder depending on portion size (1/8 to 4 cups). Promising reviews: "This is the best, most reliable feeder I have tried. Worth every penny for the peace of mind knowing that if you are running late (or want to sleep in on the weekend), the cats will be fed and content." —Karen Demont"Our cat is fat. Her life is pretty much driven by food and the only way we've been able to keep her at a moderately sustainable weight is by giving her healthy food she hates and this pet feeder. Every time we come back from a trip, there are a few more claw and bite marks on it, but it holds strong. She's even tried to sit on it, but it's done nothing more than presumably horrify it a little. I would recommend this for anyone who has a cat who is consumed with eating and getting food. Her persistence has defeated every other one we have tried. Yes, it is expensive. Yes, it is absolutely worth it." —BMoneyGet it from Amazon for $94.95. We got a new microwave, and she is terrified of it. We give her one of these every day with her other meds, and she is so much better. I like that it is NOT a benzodiazepine and it's not sedating. She is able to enjoy life without being stoned. I didn't expect much, but it works great for us." —Shawn MurphyGet it from Amazon for $34.97+ (available in four flavors). These chew sticks are perfect for them. They sniff the sticks, rub on them, and then start chewing. My two cats who are over 10 years old just rub on them but don't enjoy chewing them. A ridged slow feeder bowl to help your pup eat their meals a lot slower. If they usually inhale their kibble and leave an empty bowl before you even make it out of the room, this is *definitely* a must. This bowl can also help improve their digestion, reduce bloating, and even provide a little mental stimulation as they navigate the grooves! Promising review: "We adopted a sweet three-legged 50-pound Dutch shepherd from the Humane Society recently. Her former two homes were bad, and she had to fight for her food. Because of this, she has food aggression and inhales her food in a regular bowl. A friend recommended this bowl to us and it is FAB-U-LOUS! We mix up some homemade dog food (wet) along with grain-free kibble and spread it around the bowl. Our girl takes FAR longer to eat now. I'm guessing around five to seven minutes? The bowl works best on a smooth, noncarpeted surface as it has grip on the bottom. This ensures that the bowl doesn't slide around. It is also heavy-duty, durable plastic that can go in the dishwasher (if I hand clean it, I soak in soapy water and scour with kitchen scrubber). Great product! I highly recommend this bowl for your fur baby too." —Shan the PainterGet it from Amazon for $7.39+ (available in two sizes and seven designs). Promising review: "WE FOUND IT! A play ball that can stand up to our 14-week-old part black Lab, part shark. We have tried several toys that would stand up to the extremely sharp teeth. Nothing has worked for over 15 minutes of intensive playtime. We heard about this ball from a fellow puppy owner and ordered immediately. Added bonus: She is exhausted after chasing this thing around, so nap time comes quickly." —james BennettGet it from Amazon for $14.99+ (available in four styles and a two-pack). A creamy paw butter for dry paws and snouts that features moisturizing and soothing ingredients including shea butter, jojoba oil, and aloe vera. Plus, it's completely safe if your furbaby licks or swallows some of it! Promising review: "I love this paw butter. For so long my Aussie had the driest, most cracked paws. I would cry and stress out because nothing worked. I tried shea butter and coconut oil but it wasn't enough so one night I ended up buying this paw butter and tried it on my dog. First off it smells amazing — so good that my Aussie licks his paws for an hour after applying the product, so I had to put regular baby socks on his paws to stop him from licking. I'm almost done with the product and my dog's paws have improved enormously. He no longer has super-dried-up, cracked paws. They are soft and pink how a dog's paws should be! I love this products. It saved my dog's paws and I use it every other day, sometimes twice a day. Lifesaver!" —Juliet BetancourtGet it from Amazon for $9.69+ (available in oatmeal or coconut and two sizes). I have an itchy Boston, so itchy it was said that it would probably be better to put him down by a vet. Defective dog or not, this was not going to happen. Many weeks of trying to figure out what was causing his itches, CHICKEN! Took that out of his diet and no more itches! Wow, rocket science, right. Nonetheless, left my Boston with the in-laws for two days and came back to a flared-out, itchy dog. He didn't sleep, I didn't sleep. He was digging at his paws so bad they were swollen. I looked on Amazon and saw this item, tried it, and within an hour of the five-minute paw soak, no more itch!" —geniphreGet 12 tablets from Amazon for $19.99 (also available as a pack of 30, 75, or 300). An automatic water fountain to help your cat stay hydrated since some cats simply hate drinking still water (apparently, it's a defense mechanism), so running water might just be the solution! Promising review: "Cats aren't prone to drinking enough water, and they also abhor getting their whiskers wet. This fountain, recommended by a friend, was a huge hit from the moment I set it up and solved both of those problems. My kitty now guzzles water any time she wishes, which is definitely more than before (and yay, I don't have to turn the sink on for her now, which was the only way she'd drink water). This is fantastic!" —HermitGet it from Amazon for $27.99+ (available in two styles). A wood polish for when you need to cover up those scratches on your wood floor or doors from your pet's nails. Check out my colleague's review of the fruit tart bed for more deets and some seriously cute photos of her cats enjoying review: "This bed is adorable! I saw a lot of the reviews that stated that it was a bit small, so I went with the larger size option, which I would say is plenty big enough for an average-size cat. My cats are both relatively small and can fit inside with room to spare, and they love it! The fruit bits are very cute too. I've only had this for about two days, and I've already found the strawberry batted halfway across the house. It seems the cats like fruit toys just as much as the crust pillow! Honestly, I've been eyeing this bed since before I even decided to adopt another cat, and it's definitely living up to my expectations! Can definitely recommend." —TaylorGet it from Amazon for $31.99 (also available in a bread design). An easy-to-use dental powder packed with probiotics and nutrients to support gum health, that you just sprinkle in your pet's food to help protect their teeth from plaque and eliminate foul breath. Promising review: "My smaller dog unfortunately has pretty bad breath (not your typical dog breath, much worse). Brushing her teeth regularly helps somewhat alleviate the problem, as do dental foams and rinses, but nothing has worked as noticeably as this powder. She has no issues eating it (although, she'd eat anything) and it lasts a while considering that she only goes through one teaspoon a day. I would definitely recommend giving it a try if nothing else is working and medical reasons have been ruled out." —DGGet it from Amazon for $23. Promising reviews: "If your cats are manipulative little jerks like mine, you need this in your life. No more will they trick members of your household into giving them second breakfast!" —Stephanie"My husband and I usually work opposite shifts and slowly came to the realization that the cats were getting double fed during the day. This keeps us both updated on the feeding schedule!" —VanessaGet it from Amazon for $9.61. An under-$5 interactive flier cat toy if your cat is shockingly high-energy and they need somewhere to put it, or else they'll transform into the predator lurking within. It might only be a few paper rolls bouncing at the end of a 30-inch steel wire, but you can literally sit on the couch holding it in one hand while scrolling your phone with the other, and your feline friend will still have an absolute BLAST. Promising review: "Simply the best cat toy you can buy. My cats go wild as soon as I pull this out. Nothing else gets them up and moving like this toy now that they're getting older. Seems silly that they love a simple wire with a cardboard tip, but there's something about it that's irresistible. Buy it. Your cats will love it." —A customerrrGet it from Amazon for $3.99. A set of stainless-steel elevated pet bowls just perfect for your spoiled four-legged housemate, so they can enjoy their meals without straining their neck or having their whiskers overstimulated thanks to the wide, deep design. Promising review: "I have always had a problem with my one cat vomiting undigested food. My vet told me she was probably eating too fast. I stumbled upon an ad on Facebook stating the bowl position was the reason for cats vomiting; bowls resting on the floor put their neck at an odd angle and can cause acid reflux. I've used them for about two weeks and my cat has not vomited once! It was almost a daily occurrence prior to purchasing these! I did have to rest their old bowls inside these to get them to eat. But after a few days I could put the food directly into these bowls and they did not complain." —kindlefire09-8Get it from Amazon for $23.99. A set of recordable answer buzzers in case you want to train your pet to "talk" to you like the snarky cats and dogs on TikTok. You can record your voice and set up any phrases or responses, so you can actually *know* when your pup needs to go out and do their business or if they're just trying to sunbathe! Promising review: "We're using these to give my dog a voice. I've recorded 'potty outside,' 'water please,' and 'treat' into these buttons and put them around the house for her to use. Now when she needs to use the restroom she says 'potty outside.' When she comes back in, she goes straight to 'treat' and asks for her reward. When her bowl is empty she lets me know by pushing 'water, please.' She is a 9-pound Chihuahua with arthritis in her front paw and has no problems pushing the buttons down to make them speak. Great purchase. I want to buy more and add more phrases. (Phrases like 'play,' 'car ride,' 'bedtime,' and 'cuddles!') I am 100% happy!" —Tye RannosaurusGet it from Amazon for $22.20.

And right now, you can score the ring for $100 below its retail price as Samsung, Best Buy, and Amazon all have it on sale. Ditch the bulky watch and get this instead While it's been a year since the release of the Galaxy Ring, it's still a very capable wearable. You get a simple yet pleasing design, with lots of different colors, and excellent health tracking features. The battery is also quite good, lasting a full week, and it even comes with a case that can recharge the ring when you can't plug in. Now, since the ring doesn't have a screen, you'll need to install the Samsung Health app in order to get all the details. This is where you'll be able to see the details of your day, from health rate tracking, blood oxygen levels, sleep tracking, and more. This isn't going to be a problem for most people, but if you're looking for something a bit more aggressive on the fitness side, you'll have to look elsewhere. Perhaps the best part about all of this is that you won't need any kind of membership in order to access all the data like some of the competition. The ‘Nordic diet' can help you lose weight and prevent heart attacks — stock up on these foods
Forget the Mediterranean — the land of snow and salmon is serving up a fresh way to eat that gives your heart a healthy boost. A growing body of research suggests the Nordic diet can help trim your waist, tame your cholesterol levels and keep your blood pressure in check. That could be a game-changer in the fight against cardiovascular disease, which kills an American every 34 seconds. 4 The Nordic diet is packed with fiber, fatty fish and cold-weather produce. It revolves around seasonal, locally sourced ingredients found across Nordic nations like Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. '[The Vikings] were limited to the foods available to them at the time,' Lauren Harris-Pincus, a registered dietitian, told Fox News. 'Their diet focused on clean, sustainable foods, which is why we are discussing its health benefits today.' Like the Mediterranean diet — long hailed for its heart-healthy power — the Nordic style is plant-forward, high in fiber and packed with seafood. 4 Fatty fish are excellent sources of omega-3 fatty acids, which are linked to reduced risk of heart disease. artemidovna – But while the Greeks rely on olive oil, the northern approach leans on rapeseed (or canola) oil, another heart-friendly monounsaturated fat, according to Harvard Health. Rapeseed oil is also a source of alpha-linolenic acid, a plant-based omega-3 fatty acid similar to the kind found in fatty fish like salmon, mackerel, sardines and herring — all staples of the Nordic kitchen. Followers typically eat two to three servings of these fish each week. The omega-3s delivered by both the oil and fish have been shown to reduce the risk of heart rhythm issues, slow plaque buildup in arteries and lower fat levels in the blood, key factors in protecting cardiovascular health. The Nordic diet also emphasizes low-fat dairy, such as yogurt, and incorporates eggs and poultry in moderation. Red and processed meats, on the other hand, rarely make it onto the plate. 4 Root vegetables are loaded with vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and fiber. Viktor Iden – Whole grains such as oats, barley and rye are another cornerstone in this eating pattern. These fiber-rich 'complex' carbs digest slowly, helping to curb cravings and keep blood sugar steady — unlike refined grains in processed staples like white bread. Cold-weather veggies like turnips, carrots, parsnips, cabbage and cauliflower are also featured prominently. They're packed with fiber and nutrients that have been shown to help lower cholesterol and blood pressure. Berries like blueberries, strawberries, cranberries and lingonberries play a starring role, too. Rich in antioxidants called anthocyanins, these fruits help keep arteries flexible and may also lower blood pressure. Unlike many American eating habits, the Nordic diet also goes easy on alcohol and avoids foods high in added sugar and sodium. By avoiding processed junk, saturated fats and high-cholesterol meats while loading up on fiber-rich whole foods, studies suggest the Nordic diet can lead to significant weight loss — a major win for heart health. 4 Every year, about 805,000 people in the US have a heart attack. Pixel-Shot – In one study, people who followed the Nordic diet for just six weeks lost 4% of their body weight — significantly more than those eating a standard western diet. In another trial, people with obesity who stuck to it for six months dropped about 10 pounds — roughly triple the weight loss seen in a typical diet group. And it's not just about the scale. In a 2022 analysis, researchers found that the Nordic diet helped lower cholesterol and blood sugar levels independent of weight loss. 'The group that had been on the Nordic diet for six months became significantly healthier, with lower cholesterol levels, lower overall levels of both saturated and unsaturated fat in the blood, and better regulation of glucose, compared to the control group,' study author Lars Ove Dragsted said in a statement. Other studies have found that the Nordic diet can have a positive impact on blood pressure and inflammation. Taken together, and experts say this cold-climate cuisine could be just what the doctor ordered for your heart. A 2023 review even found that the Nordic diet might reduce the risk of death from cardiovascular disease, the leading cause of death in the US. However, more research is needed to nail down exactly how much. Still, experts say Americans could learn a thing or two from their northern neighbors — especially when it comes to cutting processed meats and sugar-laden snacks. 'People who really like berries, rye bread, and canola oil should go ahead and enjoy a Nordic-style diet rather than waiting 10 years to get more evidence,' advised Dr. Frank Hu, professor of nutrition at the Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health.
