Chrisean Rock accused of posting fake DNA test amid Ronny Doe's death

Express Tribune05-02-2025

Chrisean Rock has sparked controversy after posting her son's paternity test results on February 5, just days after the tragic death of her ex-boyfriend, Karon "Ronny Doe" Cann.
The results, dated from 2023, confirm that incarcerated rapper Blueface is the biological father of her child, Chrisean Jesus Porter.
However, 24-year-old Rock's decision to share the paternity test results through her son's Instagram account, '@chriseanjesus,' has drawn backlash. Many social media users have criticized the timing, particularly given that Cann had previously claimed to be the biological father.
Some users even accused Rock of posting fake DNA results. One user pointed out that the website mentioned in the test results suggested the test was still in progress, casting doubt on their authenticity.
Others questioned the legitimacy of the results, suggesting they may have been manipulated or taken from a previous test.
This is not the first time the paternity of Rock's child has been publicly disputed. In October 2024, Ronny Doe took to Instagram, claiming he was the biological father. He demanded a DNA test to confirm his suspicions, stating that if the results proved he was the father, he would step up and be involved in his child's life. Doe also suggested that Blueface was aware of Chrisean's relationships with both men around the time she conceived.
Despite initial beliefs that Blueface was the father, the situation has been clouded with conflicting statements. A DNA test conducted on the show 'Blueface & Chrisean: Crazy in Love' in 2023 seemed to confirm his paternity, but Blueface later claimed another test indicated otherwise. His mixed emotions about the situation have only fueled the public debate.
In November 2024, tensions between Rock and Doe escalated when he confronted her at a mall, which led to a police call. Doe accused Rock of evading legal services for a paternity test, further complicating the situation. Despite this ongoing public feud, Rock posted her son's paternity test results just days after Cann's tragic death.
Cann, 24, was fatally shot on February 3 in Severn, Maryland. Authorities have confirmed his death as a homicide, noting that the shooting was a targeted act. Police found Cann outside a residence, and he was rushed to a nearby medical center, where he was later pronounced dead from gunshot wounds. The investigation is ongoing, and no suspects have been publicly identified.

Should men on screen hide their chest hair?

Are you appalled by the sight of male chest hair? You may not be, but actor Atiqa Odho certainly is — and the Dhoka actor is not shy about expressing her withering views on the subject. "Wear disco jackets if you must, but please do not have undone buttons all the way down so you can show off your chest hair," pleaded Atiqa during a recent appearance on a local talk show during a conversation on the double standards of men and women are subjected to on screen with regards to modesty with their clothing. "I just get so put off when I see men with hairy chests. You can wax it off! I can take you to a salon!" In case any men taking notes had missed the point, the scathing screen veteran reiterated, "If you must have your buttons undone all the way down, please get it all waxed, because hairy chests are a complete put-off." For those still left in suspense about Atiqa's true feelings, she concluded, "It's yuck." Atiqa's comments came in the wake of actor Ali Raza flaunting an unbuttoned shirt in drama serial Dastak, with a full chest of hair on display. Atiqa's definitive verdict vis a vis male body hair and its relative visibility predictably sparked a discussion amongst fans online. "I don't understand why men in Pakistani dramas often have their shirts unbuttoned halfway down," commented a user, evidently in agreement with Atiqa — although the fan did not agree with every point raised by the screen veteran. "Even if the chest is waxed, it still looks cheap." Others, however, were as critical of Atiqa as the latter was of men favouring undone buttons. The logic stands that if women should be free to wear clothing of their choice (see the 'Mera Jism Meri Marzi' movement for reference), so should men. "She needs to lower her gaze, period!" wrote one enraged commenter on Instagram. "We cannot have double standards. If men are told to lower their gazes, so should women." Echoing similar sentiments, another user wrote, "Honestly, if women stand up for their right "mera jism meri marzi", then on what basis are these remarks made for men? Waxing for men is a very personal choice and some don't even want to wax." Fans (or not, as the case may be) on Reddit were largely aligned with this criticism of Atiqa's no-holds-barred opinions. "If you don't tolerate body-shaming or age-shaming of women, extend the same towards men. I am not fan of Ali Raza, but this was an unprovoked attack and very distasteful with the way she approached the topic on air."

Viral Japanese 'Insta-gran' photographer dies aged 97

A Japanese great-grandmother with 400,000 Instagram followers who shot to fame for her goofy self-portraits after taking up photography aged 72 has died, her son said on Thursday, as reported by AFP. Kimiko Nishimoto, who died this week at the age of 97, told AFP in a 2018 interview that "you can take photos no matter how old you get". "Wherever it is, in your house, outside, or in your bed, you can do it. That is the nice thing about a camera," she said. Dubbed the 'selfie queen' by Japanese media, Nishimoto's posts showed her in various candid poses — from riding a broom like Harry Potter to imitating an off-duty sumo wrestler on their fifth beer of the night. "Our mother always created her work with a smile," a post from her son Kazutami Nishimoto said on her Instagram account. "We are deeply grateful to everyone who visited her photography exhibitions held across the country, to those who shared warm words of encouragement through Instagram... and to all who supported her warmly throughout her journey." Nishimoto's son teaches photography classes, which his mother started taking in retirement. "Though she began photography at the age of 72, she was blessed with countless encounters, which enriched this third chapter of her life tremendously," he said. Nishimoto appeared on national television as her online following grew and was interviewed by major news outlets. But her more out-there visual scenarios were also the cause of some confusion over the years. One snap — showing her wrapped in a garbage bag, as if she had been discarded — drew criticism from people who didn't know she was involved in its set-up. "It's not like ideas just suddenly pop into my head but wherever I go I think about what it would be fun to dress up as in that place," she said in 2018.

Asim and Merub end engagement with grace

Singer Asim Azhar and actor Merub Ali have officially ended their engagement, the couple confirmed via Instagram on Thursday. In a heartfelt joint statement posted to his Instagram Stories, the Radd singer wrote: "We hope this message finds you well. We wanted to take a moment to share something personal, as we believe we owe that to those who have supported us — fans, friends, and well-wishers." "After a great deal of thought and reflection," he continued, "Merub and I have chosen to move forward on separate paths peacefully and mutually. While we shared meaningful moments and genuinely hoped for a future together, life sometimes takes its own course." Asim, who got engaged to the Sinfe Aahan actor in 2021, emphasised that the separation was amicable. "We have the utmost respect for each other and the families involved, and always will," he wrote, requesting fans and media for privacy during this period. The announcement concluded with a note of gratitude: "Thank you for your continued support." The pair had long kept their relationship largely private, occasionally sharing glimpses of their bond on social media. Even before they confirmed their relationship status in 2021, the duo had been fuelling the rumour mill for quite some time. Shortly before the engagement announcement, Asim took to X to clarify that he had never labelled Merub as his "sister", as was allegedly being claimed by some based on a doctored screenshot. He wrote, "To all reposting a screenshot of a 'news channel' that said I had labelled Merub as my sister [because] of a fake chat a fan had made, I clarified it a year ago." The singer continued, "Reminder, since this is a beautiful moment of my life that I want to cherish. Doosre ki khushi mai khush hona chahiye [You should be happy for others]." He went on to add in a separate post, "Clarification was important because the narrative was disgusting. Anyways, baaki sab ko mithaai jald hi ghar pohanch jayegi [the mithai will reach everyone else's homes soon]. I love you guys. Thank you for the love and duas." Merub also took to her Instagram story to request people to steer clear of spreading rumours for the sake of gossip. She wrote, "Please refrain from spreading false info, fake dates and especially refrain from bringing other humans down to celebrate us," in a possible nod to fans bullying actor Hania Aamir, whom Asim previously dated.
