Don't be intimidated, state has your back, Mamata tells state officials
Mamata Banerjee
asked them not to be intimidated. "Do your work honestly, no one will be able to do anything," the CM told officers during a 30-minute address at the meeting she wasn't even scheduled to address, said sources.
The hybrid meeting was attended by senior officers, DMs, SPs and police commissioners.
Even thought the CM didn't make any mention of the state's tussle with the EC, her statements came on a day when the EC asked Bengal chief secretary Manoj Pant to physically appear before it in Delhi and explain the action taken against four state officers and a data entry operator. The EC wants the state to suspend the five, draw FIRs, and take disciplinary action.
The Bengal govt has removed two from poll duty and has ordered an inquiry against all five.
Sources said that the CM made it clear at the meeting that those involved in electoral roll revision could not be intimidated. Accusing Assam govt of putting Bengal residents under NRC threat, Banerjee stated that Bengal would not bow down and urged officers to fight to protect the rights of Bengal's people.

A 46-year-old TMC worker was shot dead in Bankura's Sonamukhi on Monday night. The CM asked SPs and CPs to take control instead of delegating responsibility to ICs or OCs and asked them to supervise police work properly. She asked the senior cops to be proactive in preventing crimes like murder, sources said.
Banerjee also asked the district administration to help migrant workers returning to the state. She instructed the DMs to take initiatives, help in getting children of migrant workers admitted to schools and provide health care if needed. The CM also asked officials to include the returning migrant workers under the Karmashree scheme.
Banerjee emphasised the need for increasing publicity for 'Amader Para Amader Samadhan' camps so more people could join the camps. APAS camps have already seen a footfall of around 30 lakh.

Sonia Gandhi on poll roll before attaining citizenship: BJP
Sonia Gandhi (File photo) NEW DELHI: BJP on Wednesday sought to turn the tables on Congress over the latter's campaign against alleged "vote theft" by making the serious charge that Sonia Gandhi got herself enrolled twice as a voter without renouncing her Italian citizenship. "Sonia Gandhi's name entered the electoral rolls twice without meeting the basic citizenship requirement - first as an Italian citizen in 1980, and then again in 1983, months before she legally became a citizen of India. We are not even asking why it took her 15 years after marrying Rajiv Gandhi to accept Indian citizenship. If this isn't blatant electoral malpractice, what is?" said BJP IT department head Amit Malviya to counter Congress's claim that EC had facilitated BJP's victories by enrolling fake voters. On X, Malviya posted a copy of the electoral roll form of the official residence of then PM Indira Gandhi, claiming Sonia's name was added during the revision of rolls with Jan 1, 1980, as the qualifying date. . "Following an outcry in 1982, her name was deleted from the list only to reappear in 1983," he said. "In the fresh revision of the electoral rolls that year, Sonia Gandhi was listed at serial number 236 in polling station 140. The qualifying date for registration was Jan 1, 1983, but she was granted Indian citizenship only on April 30, 1983," Malviya added.

UFC cage fight 2026: Is Ivanka set to host the White House event - Here's what Donald Trump wants
Ivanka Trump with her father, Donald Trump (Instagram: ivankatrump) President Donald Trump reportedly wants his daughter, Ivanka Trump , to participate in planning and organizing an Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) cage fight on the White House lawn to commemorate America's 250th Independence anniversary next year. This comes despite her having stepped back from politics. Since Trump's reelection for a second term last November, Ivanka has largely stayed out of the public spotlight. However, UFC CEO Dana White said the president wants her involved in the plans for the White House event. 'When [Trump] called me and asked me to do it, he said, 'I want Ivanka in the middle of this,'' White told CBS Mornings. 'So Ivanka reached out to me, and her and I started talking about the possibilities, where it would be and, you know, I put together all the renderings.' Ivanka has attended multiple UFC events with her father, as reported by the Independent. White's relationship with Trump dates back to the early 2000s, when the president hosted some of the first UFC events at his properties. White confirmed that discussions with Trump took place Monday night, and the fight is scheduled for July 4, 2026. Trump, who has attended several UFC events, said the occasion would be one of many celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Bungo Timur: New Container Houses – Take A Look At The Prices! In 2022, she stated, 'I love my father very much. This time around, I am choosing to prioritize my young children and the private life we are creating as a family. I do not plan to be involved in politics.' Both Ivanka and Kushner played central roles in Trump's 2016 campaign and served as presidential advisors beginning in 2017. Following the contentious 2020 election and the Capitol Hill riots, Ivanka chose not to participate in her father's second presidential run.
