Next shoppers race to buy €153 coat now €71 that everyone wants for wet weather

After enjoying an unusually mild and sunny spring, don't pack away your coats just yet as this week's weather forecast looks grim for Ireland. Met Eireann issued a weather warning on Monday as a huge rain system crossed the country, and the outlook for the coming days is much the same. Wet, windy and cold conditions are expected to stick around - and even if the weather improves later into the summer, with Ireland's famously unpredictable climate, rain is never far away. This time of year is the actually the perfect opportunity to snap up bargain winter wear as stores clear out their current stock to make way for new autumn and winter arrivals. Shoppers at Next have already spotted a fantastic deal - a coat that's been hailed as rainproof, warm and stylish - is now heavily discounted. The Premium Long Padded Hooded Coat, originally priced at €153.50, is now reduced to just €71. Available in sizes XS to 2XL, including regular and petite fits, it comes in charcoal grey and khaki green. This coat is flying off the shelves, so if your size is already sold out online, it's worth checking both colour options and fit styles. Next describes the coat as: "Elevate your cold weather outfits with our premium long padded coat. Crafted from a luxury fabric with heatseal panels, handy pockets, popper and zip fastening as well as a cocooning hood." Customer reviews have been overwhelmingly positive. Many praise the fit and warmth, with comments like: "The perfect fit, colour and size", and "Lovely fit and so warm". Several shoppers appreciated the quality padding. One said: "Excellent product. A little pricey but it is quality. Had complementary comments regarding the coat. It's warm and beautifully padded to keep you cozy". Another added: "Absolutely love this coat. Keeps me very warm in morning dog walks and looks stylish!" Rain protection is a major selling point, with one shopper saying: "Love this coat. Warm and rainproof, what more can you ask for". Another added: "I LOVE it! It's so warm and fully waterproof. The pockets are soft inside which keeps your hands warm too. It's comfortable... A big thing for me is that the sleeves aren't tight around your wrist, which you find they are on a lot of raincoats". The coat's stylish design also got high marks, with reviews stating: "As described, stylish, warm long coat", "Absolutely beautiful coat well worth the money. Material soft and silky to touch", and "Very warm and comfortable. Long enough to keep lower back and legs cozy but still very stylish". Shoppers highlighted some practical features too, with one saying: "Love the colour, it's lightweight too. The lining keeps you cozy and warm and the hood doesn't blow down in the wind". Another added: "This jacket is the perfect winter jacket, comfy and cozy without being too bulky... The side poppers are great to allow you to get in and out a car with ease, without feeling restricted". While most reviews are glowing, a few mention minor preferences, including one shopper who wrote: "More shiny than it looked online, I wanted more of a matt finish. The fleece lined pockets are great in the cold though". For more information or to buy the coat, click here. Next isn't the only retailer slashing prices on winter wear - shoppers can also find major coat discounts at other fashion retailers across Ireland. River Island has a range of stylish outerwear marked down, including the sleek Black Slim Fit Padded Jacket, now just €42 (originally €90), and the chic Brown Check Tailored Longline Trench Coat, which has dropped from €119 to just €54. For those after something a bit more substantial, the Black Slim Fit Longline Padded Coat is also reduced from €127 to €75. Brown Thomas is also offering savings on premium pieces. The elegant Kaffe Maja Peacoat, once €139.95 is now €98, while the cosy and on-trend Kaffe Anne Single-Breasted Teddy Coat is down from €149.95 to €104. If you're after something a little more statement-making, the Forever New Jen Aviator Jacket, a steal at just €69 (down from €137), brings both edge and warmth to your wardrobe.
