Concert at Otsiningo Park to honor and salute veterans
The show is the brainchild of country singer Jason Michael Carroll, who wanted to support those people who put their lives on the line for their community after hearing about the tragic death of Binghamton firefighter JR Gaudet earlier this year.
Tickets will be a very reasonable $10 and will be free for veterans, active duty military, first responders, and nurses. Spiedie Fest is organizing the event. Coordinator Dave Pessagno says Carroll is himself a Marine Corps veteran, who previously played at Spiedie Fest and often hunts in the Norwich area.
'He is a great guy, does a ton for vets. He'll be out talking to all of the veterans, our first responders. He cares a lot about this community, he cares about veterans, he goes overseas to perform. That's been his mission,' Pessagno said.
Otsiningo Park will close to the public next Friday evening. Opening for Carroll will be a veritable all-star lineup of local acts: singer-songwriter Jared Campbell, popular cover band Wreckless Marci and former Voice contestant Alyssa Crosby who will also serve as emcee.
The concert will also feature food trucks and beer tents and the Binghamton Vet Center will have information about the services it provides. Both the free tickets for vets and first responders and the $10 tickets are available at the Arena box office or at the gate. Gates open at 5:30 with the concert starting at 6:00.

FTC sues ticket reseller for using bogus Ticketmaster accounts to evade Taylor Swift's Eras tour ticket limits
Federal Trade Commission sued ticket reseller Key Investment Group for evading purchasing limits to buy up thousands of tickets to live events including Taylor Swift's Eras tour and resell them at a markup, according to a complaint filed in Maryland federal court on Monday. The Baltimore, Md.-based company, which operates ticket resale sites including used thousands of Ticketmaster accounts, including fake or purchased accounts, the FTC said. Ticketmaster faced intense criticism after its botched 2022 sale of tickets to Swift's much-hyped New Eras Tour, when billions of requests from Swift fans, bots and ticket resellers overwhelmed its website and the company canceled a planned ticket sale to the general public. Ticket reseller Key Investment Group, which operates ticket resale sites including used thousands of Ticketmaster accounts, including fake or purchased accounts, the FTC said. MSNBC to change name to 'MS NOW' in Comcast spinoff deal
MSNBC is set to change its name as part of Comcast's spin-off from NBC Universal, which the company announced in late 2024, according to the Wall Street Journal. The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported on Monday that the left-leaning network's new name will be "My Source News Opinion World," or MS NOW. CNBC, USA, Oxygen and E! are also included in the Comcast spin-off. CNBC is going to keep its name, according to the WSJ, but is working on a new logo. The move is part of the networks' attempt to separate themselves from NBC, the Journal reported. Cesar Conde will continue leading the NBCUniversal News Group, but now that group only includes NBC News, the NBC News Now streaming service, Telemundo and owned-and-operated local stations.
