Google terminates thousands of YouTube channels as part of investigation into China-linked influence operations
'We terminated 2,598 YouTube channels and blocked 1 domain from eligibility to appear on Google News surfaces and Discover as part of our ongoing investigation into coordinated influence operations linked to the PRC. The coordinated inauthentic network uploaded content in Chinese and English about China and US foreign affairs. These findings are consistent with our previous reports,' noted Google in its Threat Analysis Group (TAG) updates bulletin for the month of June.
Meanwhile, U.S. news outlet CNBC noted that YouTube in the second quarter had removed about 11,000 channels and other accounts that were associated with state-linked propaganda campaigns from China, Russia, and other regions.
This is not the first time Google has taken action against such content. The internet giant noted in the same bulletin that in May it had terminated 3,592 YouTube channels as part of its investigation into coordinated influence operations linked to China.

India, China discuss situation in border areas, express satisfaction with prevalence of peace and tranquility
India and China reviewed the current situation along the India-China border on Wednesday, in what the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) described as an atmosphere of 'peace and tranquillity.' The meeting was part of ongoing efforts to manage border issues between the two countries. "The 34th meeting of the Working Mechanism for Consultation & Coordination on India-China Border Affairs (WMCC) took place in New Delhi on 23 July 2025," the MEA said in a press release. The two delegations agreed to maintain regular communication on boundary-related matters through established diplomatic and military channels. They also discussed further steps to strengthen 'effective border management' and maintain calm along the Line of Actual Control. These discussions built on the progress made during the previous round of Special Representatives' Talks and the 33rd WMCC meeting. Preparations were also made for the next round of the Special Representatives' Talks, which is scheduled to be held in India later this year. As part of the visit, the leader of the Chinese delegation also met with the Foreign Secretary. In the recent past, India and China have taken several steps to mend their strained relations, which had sharply deteriorated after the deadly clash between their armed forces in June 2020. The face-off effectively ended following the completion of the disengagement process from the last two friction points of Demchok and Depsang, under an agreement finalised on October 21 last year. Meanwhile, in a significant step towards normalising India-China ties since the border standoff, New Delhi resumed the revered Kailash Mansarovar Yatra from June this year. The yatra's resumption after a five-year pause marks a major step in bridging the trust gap that developed following the border standoff in Galwan, where 20 Indian soldiers lost their lives.

Moto 360 could return in 2025 with a smarter look and smarter software
Motorola seems ready to revive its most iconic wearable. The Moto 360, once seen as the crown jewel of Android Wear devices, is expected to return in 2025 with a new design and modern features. Renders leaked by Android Headlines reveal a smartwatch that holds on to the original round-faced appeal while introducing modern refinements. The stainless steel-like casing, circular bezel and rotatable crown bring back memories of the original design. However, this time, Motorola has opted for a more premium look with metal link bands and a neatly polished finish. The smartwatch also features a second button below the crown, much like some recent watches from Samsung and OnePlus. Software is where the 2025 Moto 360 could get interesting. Unlike its predecessors, the new model may feature two different operating modes. One is expected to be Google's Wear OS, offering support for apps, maps, and voice assistant features. The other is a real-time OS that helps stretch battery life by handling essential tasks like step counting, media control, and Bluetooth calling. This approach aims to combine power and efficiency, which has become a popular solution among smartwatch brands. With this dual-mode operation, users could enjoy both performance and extended usage without needing to recharge frequently. The history of the Moto 360 is one of early innovation followed by quiet absence. Launched in 2014, it was among the first smartwatches to adopt Android Wear. It brought a round display to the table when most competitors were still using square designs. A second version followed, but the line faded before making a return through licensing in 2019. The 2025 model signals a more direct involvement from Motorola. This time, the development is expected to happen in-house, reflecting a renewed interest in the wearables market. As for the operating system, the rumours remain mixed. While the device may include Wear OS, there is still no confirmation from Motorola. Past smartwatches from the brand have used its own lightweight operating systems for speed and battery efficiency. With the smartwatch market now dominated by Apple, Samsung, and Google, Motorola's success may depend on how well it balances style, software and battery life.

Google Chrome for iOS introduces seamless work and personal account switching
Using the same phone for both work and personal tasks can be tricky. Many of us have to switch between Google accounts throughout the day. Until now, iPhone users had to go through the tiring process of signing out of one account and logging into another every time they needed to switch. That is finally changing. Google has introduced a useful new feature in Chrome for iOS. Users can now switch between their personal and work accounts in a much simpler way. This update is already available on Android and desktop versions of Chrome. With iPhones added to the list, it becomes easier for everyone to keep things separate but still accessible. Once the update is in place, users will be able to manage both accounts without confusion. When you switch to your work account, Chrome will keep all the data, tabs, browsing history, and passwords tied only to that account. Your personal browsing remains private and unaffected. This clear separation of information helps prevent mix-ups and keeps your work data safe. When you first switch to your managed work account, Chrome shows a message to explain how your organisation will handle your data. This message helps set clear expectations and adds a layer of transparency. This update is especially helpful for people working in companies that follow the bring-your-own-device approach. Since fewer employees now use separate work phones, the need to balance personal and professional use on one device has grown. Google has responded to that need with this useful change. For businesses, the update provides more control. IT departments can apply rules to managed accounts, monitor activity, and protect sensitive data. At the same time, users retain their personal browsing space without interruption. Google has also made reporting tools available for Chrome on mobile. This gives companies the same level of insight across all platforms. This update is rolling out through the App Store, so it may take a few days to reach everyone. Once it is active, switching between accounts will become as easy on iPhones as it already is on other platforms. Now your phone can be both your office and your off-hours companion without the stress of signing in and out repeatedly.
