Dolly Parton reveals husband Carl Dean's secret health battle before his death

New York Posta day ago

She will always love him.
Dolly Parton is opening up about the death of her husband, Carl Dean, and how he secretly was sick before his death at age 82 in March.
'I really feel his presence. I just try to go on, because I know I have to,' she told The Independent in an interview published on Wednesday. 'And he was ill for quite a while, and part of me was at peace that he was at peace and not suffering anymore. But that still doesn't make up for the loss and the loneliness of it.'
The 'Steel Magnolias' actress, 79, did not disclose what specific heath battle he faced.

Parton and Dean were married for nearly 60 years before his passing. The couple married on May 30, 1966, and did not have children.
'I am a person of faith, and I truly believe that I'm going to see him again someday,' she went on.
'And I see him every day in my memories and in my heart, and in all the things that we used to do and all the things that we've built together. You just kind of have to learn to kind of make new plans – but that's the hardest part.'
Parton and Dean met in 1964 outside of a laundromat in Nashville. Although he remained out of the spotlight for most of their relationship, the singer gushed that he was always 'very proud' of her behind closed doors.
'So when I did lose him, I just thought, well, I'm going to take all of that energy, and I'm just going to put that back into other things, and I'll keep him ever-present in everything that I do,' she told the outlet.
The 10-time Grammy winner is keeping to her word. She has been busy working on an autobiographical musical, which will open in Nashville in July before opening on Broadway in 2026. Her new book, 'Star of the Show: My Life on Stage,' will also hit shelves on Nov. 11.

Taylor Swift 'stolen' albums dominate streaming charts after buying her music back

Taylor Swift 'stolen' albums dominate streaming charts after buying her music back Singer-songwriter Taylor Swift announced Friday that she was able to purchase back her entire catalog of music from Shamrock Capital, ending a years-long saga. The 14-time Grammy winner had been in the midst of re-recording her first six albums after they had been purchased by Big Machine Records and music manager Scooter Braun back in 2019. Braun would go on to sell them to Shamrock Capital in 2020. Swift had already recorded Fearless (Taylor's Version), Speak Now (Taylor's Version), Red (Taylor's Version) and 1989 (Taylor's Version), with just Reputation and her debut album Taylor Swift waiting for the re-record treatment. After Taylor's Version was released for each album, Swifties would generally refer to the originals as the "stolen versions" and wouldn't stream or purchase them. With the originals no longer "stolen," Swift's albums made a huge jump into the top 10 on Apple Music and Spotify following the announcement. According to various reports from Forbes, chart following sites like Pop Vortex and online accounts like Pop Base, Reputation and Taylor Swift have taken over the top two spots on Apple Music's Top 100 Albums list. All of Swift's catalog seemingly got a boost from Friday's news, with all 15 studio albums reportedly in the top-100 at one time. Swift was the first to be able to unseat the wildly popular country artist Morgan Wallen and his new album, I'm the Problem, from the top spot. Miley Cyrus has rounded out the top-5 with her new release Something Beautiful.

Rihanna's Dad Ronald Fenty Dead at 70

Originally appeared on E! Online Rihanna and her family are in mourning. The pregnant "Diamonds" singer's dad Ronald Fenty has died, multiple outlets reported May 31. He was 70. While the cause of his death was not made public, he had recently battled an illness, the reports said. Sources close to the Fentys told Starcom Network News, which is based in their home country of Barbados, that family members gathered in California before Ronald passed away in the early hours of the morning. News of his death comes days after Rihanna's brother Rajad Fenty was photographed arriving at a Los Angeles hospital, reportedly with the Grammy winner in the car, TMZ reported. In addition to the two, Ronald is also survived by the siblings' mom, his ex Monica Braithwaite, and the former couple's other son together, Rorrey Fenty, 35, as well as the patriarch's three kids Samantha Fenty, Kandy Fenty and Jamie Fenty from past relationships. The 37-year-old's parents had divorced in 2002 when she was 14—two years before she moved from their hometown of Bridgetown, Barbados to the United States. The Fenty Beauty founder said her family "broke up" because of her dad's struggles with addiction, and it took a while for her and her father to move past that. "I repaired my relationship with my dad," Rihanna tearfully told Oprah Winfrey in a 2012 interview, "I was so angry at him. I was just angry about a lot of things from my childhood and I couldn't separate him as a husband from him as a father." Rihanna said she came to realize that he was "probably one of the best fathers in the world." "He taught me everything," she said. "And as awful as he was to my mom at times, it didn't compare to how great he was as a father. And I had to come to terms with that. And I was able to close that gap with him." Years later, the two became involved in a legal dispute. Rihanna sued her father in 2019 for false advertising, false designation of origin and invasion of privacy—false light publicity. In the lawsuit, obtained by E! News, she alleged that Ronald and his business partner "egregiously and fraudulently misrepresented to third parties and the public" that their company, Fenty Entertainment, was affiliated with her and had the authority to act on her behalf. In 2021, Rihanna filed to dismiss the lawsuit, the BBC reported. For the latest breaking news updates, click here to download the E! News App
