Blake Lively withdraws claims of emotional distress against Justin Baldoni

(NewsNation) — The drama between 'It Ends With Us' co-stars Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni has taken a surprising new turn, as a court filing shows some claims against Baldoni have been withdrawn. On Monday, the actress filed to dismiss her original claims of emotional distress. On Tuesday, Judge Lewis Liman, who is overseeing the lawsuit, ruled that those claims would not remain active. It was Lively's claims of emotional distress that led to Baldoni's lawyers requesting her medical information. This included therapy notes and information on her mental health providers. Trump pardon for Diddy? 50 Cent says he would stop it: Report Liman said Baldoni's motion to get medical information is denied 'based on (Lively's) representation that the relevant claims will be withdrawn.' He also said that Lively didn't want to disclose the information but wanted to keep the right to re-file her claims. However, Liman decided that 'Ms. Lively cannot have it both ways,' and he closed the case completely. Now, Lively cannot change her mind and provide medical records to keep the lawsuit alive. Following the ruling, Lively's attorneys will be unable to use evidence of her alleged emotional distress in her case. Baldoni's attorneys declined to comment on this ruling, according to Variety. Lively's lawyers have said Baldoni's lawyers' requesting her medical information is a 'press stunt' and filed their own motion urging the court to sanction attorneys for Baldoni, saying they abused the docket. 'It is based on two brazenly false assertions. First, they claim that Ms. Lively has 'refused' to disclose medical and mental health information, but as counsel for the Wayfarer Parties concede, that information is relevant only to Ms. Lively's stand-alone tort-based emotional distress claims that she indicated she was withdrawing,' the Lively filing argued. As these legal battles continue, it was announced that Baldoni's foundation, Wayfarer Foundation, would be closing. Baldoni co-owned the foundation with producing partner Steve Sarowitz. Sarowitz announced the closing on Instagram, saying, 'Upon unanimous decision of the board of directors, today (May 2) we will begin the process of sunsetting the Foundation. We will honor all of our current grant commitments as we carefully wind down operations over the next several weeks.' Baldoni had been a board member of the foundation since 2016. All of this comes after Lively filed a lawsuit against Baldoni for alleged sexual harassment. One insider told NewsNation in February that Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, 'have no idea what's coming down the pike.' 'King of the Hill' voice actor fatally shot: Reports Another source told NewsNation in February that no one wanted to work with Lively since the lawsuits started. Then, Baldoni filed a suit that claimed he had to deal with being defamed and alleged extortion attempts. He had also filed a libel suit against The New York Times before it was paused in March. A trial for the Lively suit against Baldoni has been scheduled for March 2026. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Taylor Swift ‘ignoring' Blake Lively's ‘groveling' texts after being dragged into Justin Baldoni battle: report

Taylor Swift is ready for a cruel summer. The Grammy winner, 35, is reportedly 'done' with Blake Lively after being dragged into the actress' ongoing legal feud with Justin Baldoni, so much so that she's allegedly 'ignoring' all calls, texts, and emails from her former bestie. 'Even though Taylor has totally cut ties with her, Blake hasn't with Taylor,' a source told the Daily Mail on Tuesday, June 3. 11 Taylor Swift is allegedly 'ignoring' all of Blake Lively's 'groveling' texts, calls and emails. Lively's attempts to contact Swift have reportedly gone unanswered. 'She's been reaching out to her with texts, voicemails and even emails begging to mend what they once had. Blake isn't giving up on trying to get her friendship with Taylor back on track,' the insider continued. 'Taylor hasn't responded to any of Blake's pleas. She's ignored all her groveling excuses. The missives explain there must be some misunderstanding on Taylor's part and that she would never do anything to harm their ten years of closeness and personal secrets,' they alleged. The source further claimed that Swift is icing out her friend of ten years because she feels 'betrayed' and 'exploited' by Lively, 37. 'Taylor obviously still means so much to Blake, but Taylor's totally done with her and as of right now, no requests will mend their bond as far as she's concerned,' the insider shared. 11 Swift was subpoenaed as a witness by Baldoni's legal team last month. GC Images 11 However, the subpoena has since been dropped. Nancy Rivera / 11 Swift is godmother to several of Blake Lively's kids. Getty Images The Post reached out to Swift's team for comment. Swift allegedly pressed pause on her friendship with Lively in May being subpoenaed as a witness by Baldoni's legal team in the never-ending 'It Ends With Us' legal nightmare. 'Their friendship has halted,' an insider told People on Thursday, May 15, adding, 'Taylor wants no part in this drama.' 11 It was already alleged that their friendship was 'fractured.' GC Images 11 Blake Lively sued Justin Baldoni in December 2024, alleging sexual harassment. GC Images However, in a shocking move by Baldoni's legal team, they dropped the subpoena on May 22 after a representative for Swift denied she had any involvement in the drama. 'Taylor Swift never set foot on the set of this movie, she was not involved in any casting or creative decisions, she did not score the film, she never saw an edit or made any notes on the film, she did not even see 'It Ends With Us' until weeks after its public release, and was traveling around the globe during 2023 and 2024 headlining the biggest tour in history,' the rep told The Post in response to the original subpoena. The 'Bad Blood' singer, who is godmother to several of Lively's kids with Ryan Reynolds, was mentioned in Baldoni's $400 million countersuit against the actress and her famous husband, in which he accused Blake of calling Taylor and Reynolds her 'dragons' and referring to herself as Khaleesi from 'Game of Thrones' in an alleged text conversation. 11 She allegedly called Swift one of her 'dragons' following a pivotal meeting with Justin Baldoni. BACKGRID 11 Justin Baldoni countersued Blake Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, for $400 million. GC Images In the lawsuit, Baldoni also alleged Swift was present for a pivotal meeting he had with Lively at the NYC penthouse she shares with Reynolds about rewriting the infamous 'It Ends With Us' rooftop scene. His attorney, Bryan Freedman, later issued a letter to Judge Lew J. Liman, claiming he was told by an anonymous source that Lively's lead lawyer, Michael Gottlieb, allegedly threatened to release Swift's text messages if the 'You Need to Calm Down' hitmaker didn't publicly support Blake. Gottlieb denied the allegations — and the judge granted Lively's motion to strike the letter, calling Freedman's filing 'improper' and 'irrelevant' in the order obtained by The Post. 11 His attorney claimed Lively's lead lawyer, Michael Gottlieb, allegedly threatened to release Swift's text messages if the singer didn't publicly support Blake. Jackson Lee for Page Six 'It took the court less than 24 hours to see through Mr. Freedman's irrelevant, improper and inflammatory accusations, strike them, remove them from the court and warn Mr. Freedman that further misconduct may be met with sanctions,' a spokesperson for Lively said at the time. The 'Another Simple Favor' actress has denied all the allegations against her. Lively kicked off the legal feud when she sued Baldoni in December 2024, claiming he sexually harassed her while filming 'It Ends With Us.' She also accused him of spearheading a smear campaign against her, as well as intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress. 11 Blake Lively's attorney denied the accusations and the judge granted her motion to strike the letter. GC Images 11 Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively's trial kicks off in March 2026. GC Images He, too, denied the accusations. In an unpredicted move this week, Baldoni's attorneys informed the judge that Lively was trying to abandon her infliction of emotional distress claims against their client after they sought to obtain her medical records. Baldoni's legal team argued that Lively 'waived any doctor-patient privilege' when she claimed to have suffered 'physical and emotional injuries' because of the 'It Ends With Us' director. Judge Liman must now decide if the actress will be ordered to turn over the mental health information sought by the opposing counsel. Lively and Baldoni's legal trial is set for March 2026.
