Walking With Dinosaurs – BBC Factual and PBS release trailer and confirms award-winning actor Bertie Carvel as narrator for the new series
BBC Factual and PBS have released a brand-new trailer for the forthcoming BBC One and iPlayer series Walking With Dinosaurs, giving viewers a glimpse into the exciting prehistoric worlds, 25 years on from when it first stomped across our screens.
The 60 second trailer takes us to a series of impressive landscapes, from the mountainous forests in Alberta to the red rock canyons of Utah; viewers can anticipate a unique journey back through time, witnessing the incredible life stories of these long-lost giants. In addition, double Olivier and Tony award-winning actor Bertie Carvel has been confirmed as the narrator for the new series.
In an exciting reimagining of one of the BBC's most beloved factual shows, Bertie will provide narration for each episode, guiding viewers through the dramatic stories of six individual dinosaurs. These include a Spinosaurus - the largest carnivorous dinosaur to ever walk the earth - roaming the rivers of ancient Morocco; a youthful Triceratops battling a ravenous T. rex in North America; and a lonely giant Lusotitan risking it all for a love in Portugal.
With an impressive back catalogue, Bertie is no stranger to flagship television and his work includes notable credits such as Tony Blair in The Crown, Prince Baelor Targaryen in HBO's upcoming A Knight of The Seven Kingdoms and the BBC's Doctor Foster. Also, a star of the West End, Bertie received an Olivier Award for 'Best Actor in a Musical' playing Miss Trunchbull in Matilda the Musical.
Thanks to cutting-edge science, experts can reveal how these prehistoric creatures lived, hunted, fought and died more accurately than ever before. As the dinosaur's bones emerge from the ground, the series will bring these prehistoric stories to life with state-of-the-art visual effects – making each episode a gripping dinosaur drama based on the very latest evidence.

Walking With Dinosaurs, a 6x50', was commissioned for BBC One and BBC iPlayer by Jack Bootle, Head of Commissioning, Specialist Factual. Bill Gardner is Editorial Consultant for PBS. Diana El-Osta is the Executive in Charge for PBS. It is a BBC Studios Science Unit Production co-produced with ZDF and France Télévisions for BBC and PBS. The Executive Producers are Andrew Cohen and Helen Thomas; the Showrunner is Kirsty Wilson; the Producer/Directors are Stephen Cooter; Tom Hewitson and Owen Gower; and the Line Producers are Max Brunold and Libby Hand. A TV poll in 2004 found that Blackadder was voted the second-best British sitcom of all time Absolutely Fabulous (1992 - 2012) - Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley star as failing PR guru Edina 'Eddie' Monsoon and alcoholic fashionista Patsy Stone. The pair embark on heavy-drinking sessions and abuse drugs in a desperate attempt to stay 'hip'. Eddie constantly chases bizarre fads and fails to lose weight whilst her disappointed and neglected daughter Saffy (Julia Sawalha) looks on. Little Britain (2003 - 2006) - The premise is simple. A sketch show which features different British people from all walks of life that are engaged in all sorts of comical scenarios. Starring Matt Lucas and David Walliams, the pair created iconic pop culture characters. Viewers loved obnoxious council estate teenager Vicky Pollard, morbidly obese scrounger Bubbles Devere, slimming coach Marjorie Dawes, despondent office worker Carol Beer, disgraced politician Sir Norman Fry, of course the iconic Lou and Andy! The Catherine Tate Show (2004-2015) - A sketch show starring the likes of Catherine Tate. She made iconic characters such as rowdy schoolgirl Lauren Cooper with her line 'Am I bovvered?'. Other characters featured Bernie the nurse, the aga saga woman, complaining couple Janice and Ray, and of course her infamous 'Nan', Joannie Taylor. The last character herself spawned multiple specials and even a movie. Gavin and Stacey (2007 - Present) The series tells the story of Gavin (Matthew Horne) and Stacey (Joanna Page). The pair embarked on an online and telephone romance for six months. But when they finally decide to be together properly, their friends and family get in the way. Ruth Jones and James Corden created the beloved show, which has been going for over a decade. Eastenders actor suspended by BBC after making disabled slur
EastEnders actor Jamie Borthwick has been suspended by the BBC after using a disabled slur on the set of Strictly Come Dancing. The 30-year-old star made the offensive comment during filming of the show's Blackpool week last November, according to the Sun on Sunday. He said he was 'deeply sorry for any offence and upset my words and actions have caused'. The BBC said that his language was 'entirely unacceptable and in no way reflects the values or standards we hold and expect' and took the step of suspending him. In video footage obtained by the publication the actor used the term 'm--------s' to describe residents of Blackpool. He was reported to be backstage during rehearsals with Wynne Evans, 53, when he made the comment, leading the opera singer to say: 'Oh my God.' Borthwick, in a statement, said: 'I want to apologise sincerely and wholeheartedly for the words I used in the video showing my reaction to making it through Blackpool week on Strictly. 'I am deeply sorry for any offence and upset my words and actions have caused. It is no excuse, but I did not fully understand the derogatory term I used and its meaning.' Borthwick added that he was 'deeply embarrassed'. Disability charity Scope called on the Eastenders actor to educate himself and reflect on what he had said. Warren Kirwan, the organisation's media manager, said: 'We hope he takes the opportunity to get to know the reality of disabled people's lives.' It comes after Evans was taken off the Strictly tour back in January following claims he made an inappropriate sexual comment. The opera singer was then told that his BBC Radio Wales contract was not being renewed following a four-month investigation. Evans then apologised for language that he called 'inappropriate and unacceptable'. The BBC said Evans was 'not returning to the mid-morning show on BBC Radio Wales and there are currently no plans to work with him'
