Finlay Pollock picks out 'legend' as Hearts kid hails Raith Rovers loan
The Hearts youngster moved to Stark's Park on loan in September and went on to score six times in 25 appearances for the Kirkcaldy club.
However, his campaign was cut short by a serious hamstring injury sustained in the 1-0 victory over Ayr United in April and he returned to Tynecastle prematurely.
It meant the on-form attacker missed the final four games of the season as Raith fell agonisingly short of landing a shot at promotion through the play-offs.
Despite that bitter disappointment, Pollock looks back fondly on his spell across the Forth in Fife and has detailed the improvements it helped him make to his game.
'They definitely saw my pace,' he said of his time at Raith, where former Jambo Cameron is assistant-manager. 'That's one of my strengths and they saw that I could probably outrun centre-backs in the league, fairly comfortably.
'They always wanted me to stretch the game. They really wanted me to try and utilise my pace as much as possible against these defenders.
'[Colin Cameron] let the rest of the team know that as well. That was sort of the main message for me to do that – and I got a lot of goals out of doing that as well.
'Obviously he [Cameron] is a bit of a legend here [at Hearts]. My whole family know that and my dad reminds me how lucky I was to be with him each day.
'But he taught me on the pitch as well. Even if it was after training when we'd go out for second sessions.
'He just showed me where to be, different positions to keep and to hold and when to run, when to stay, when to come short, when to go long – all these different things.
'That just helped me on the pitch and it just improved me as a whole.'
In an interview with Hearts TV, Pollock added: 'I learned a lot. The Championship was very tight, it was very competitive, very physical.
'So, you've got to adapt when you're on the pitch and use different parts of your body to protect the ball and keep the ball. And learn when to go forward, when to come short, all different aspects like that.
'Just getting a run at games like that helps you to learn and understand.'
With Pollock's season ended prematurely by injury, his focus has turned to next term and successfully completing his lengthy comeback.
'It's touch and go whether I make pre-season,' added the 20-year-old. 'Hopefully I can make sort of mid-July or the end of July. That's the aim, if all goes well, to try and get back for then.
'But I'll need to make sure I'm right before I come back.'

Equally, Zubimendi should keep his place although already, Gabriel Martinelli surely knows his place is under threat with Madueke itching to make an impression. Although he scored the winner, Calafiori kept going walkabout at left back leaving Gabriel Magalhaes exposed on the left of central defence. This is why Myles Lewis-Skelly, who will probably have been peed off in not starting this game, might be given a run-out against Daniel Farkes' team.

Oli McBurnie scores added-time winner as Hull beat Oxford in five-goal thriller
McBurnie, who joined the Tigers as a free agent two weeks ago, stabbed home Ryan Giles' cross three minutes into added time to put the seal on what was a chaotic Championship game. Bosnian Jakirovic, who replaced Ruben Selles in the summer, might have been forgiven for thinking this league was a cakewalk as Joe Gelhardt opened the scoring after two minutes. But Oxford, as has become standard under Gary Rowett, rarely buckle under pressure and equalised seven minutes later through Spurs loan signing Will Lankshear. Matt Crooks restored Hull's advantage after 20 minutes before Cameron Brannagan equalised six minutes later during a relentless contest that was eclipsed by McBurnie's late intervention. Gelhardt's early strike set the tone for an opening period in which defensive principles went out the window in favour of attacking verve. The Leeds loan signing hared down the right wing before charging into the penalty box, from where three Oxford players gave him far too much space to whip the football into the bottom right corner. Jamie Cumming was beaten at his near post, but Gelhardt had feigned to cross and hit the ball with such power and accuracy that it was difficult to blame Oxford's goalkeeper. Vibrant Hull would have doubled their advantage three minutes later had it not been for Greg Leigh, who brilliantly blocked Crooks' goalbound effort from close range off John Lundstram's defence-splitting pass. With the hosts threatening to cut loose, Oxford unexpectedly drew level when Tyler Goodrham worked minor miracles to keep the ball in play at Hull's far post. Goodrham somehow stabbed the ball towards the centrally positioned Lankshear, who volleyed into the net past an unsighted Ivor Pandur. Unfazed by that setback, Hull regained the initiative when Gelhardt, again unopposed, found McBurnie in a dangerous position inside the penalty area. McBurnie passed first time to Crooks, whose late run into the six-yard box was matched only by his composed, low finish. But Oxford remained a threat on the counterattack and equalised soon afterwards after through Brannagan, who seized upon defensive uncertainty from Will Vaulks' long throw-in towards the back post. Brannagan's half-volley from the edge of the penalty area was well executed, but Pandur got two hands to the ball and should have done much better. Pandur gained a degree of redemption after 61 minutes when he showed laudable dexterity to prevent Matt Phillips from making an immediate impact from the substitutes' bench. Gelhardt later tried his luck from a similar angle to which he opened the scoring, but Cumming was this time up the challenge. The game rather tailed off inside the final half-hour as Oxford went deeper and Hull seemingly ran out of ideas. That was until McBurnie dragged his side over the line with a cute finish into the bottom-left corner.
