A PENSIONER has told how he was mugged in a minute by a seagull who nicked his ice cream.
Gordon Ashley, 74, was dive-bombed by the winged raider and sent sprawling in the middle of a road.

And as he lay injured, the greedy gull flew off with his cone in Nairn, Inverness-shire.
Gordon said: 'These birds are protected species but who protects old guys walking up the high street? I was embarrassed and angry.
'I grazed by knees but it was my pride that hurt more than anything.'
Retired catering boss Gordon told how the bizarre attack happened while he was out for a walk with his grown-up daughter.
They were stalked by the gull as soon as they emerged from a shop with two cones.
They thought they had shaken it off by taking cover in doorways but the bird got them at a zebra crossing.
Gordon said: 'We were out in the open and had nowhere to hide. It took a different track and came in at a low angle. I took a few paces but tripped over the kerb. I was down on my hands and knees.
'Traffic stopped because we were on the crossing. I parted company with the cone and two seagulls devoured it. They were delighted. I took it lightheartedly but there's a serious side, too.
'Seagulls are coming into our town and attacking us. Businesses in Nairn that rely on tourism are affected. It's a problem.'

He wrote: 'Now, my path is paved with misjudgements, so to speak, but from now on the whole world is watching. 'Not even the Braunschweig regional court will now dare to make an obvious misjudgement. 'Even if an attempt is currently being made to create a shocking overall picture of me through purchased witnesses, it is the important questions, the decisive questions that can never be answered with 'yes'. The seeming failure of longshot searches for any traces of Madeleine this week is the latest in a string of blows for the case. German authorities who maintain Madeleine is dead are racing to find a way to keep highly dangerous Brueckner behind bars after he was cleared of rape claims last year. He told this week he plans to 'hide' when he is released, as soon as September 17, taking hopes for the Madeleine case with him. The drifter was jailed in 2019, convicted of the 2005 rape of an American pensioner just streets from the Ocean Club, where the McCanns stayed in Praia da Luz. The Sun investigation aired on Channel 4 revealed the existence of computer hard drives which were vital in to persuading investigators of Madeleine's death. Our findings placed Breuckner at key Madeleine search location the Arades Dam, in Portugal. And a document puts him at the location — where he allegedly said 'she did not scream' as he discussed her with an associate. In the online message where he brags to another sicko that he really wanted to 'capture something small' he adds it would not matter 'if the evidence is destroyed afterwards'. Moment driver nearly ploughed into group of children caught on camera
A local has hit out over incidents in the area. A Scots driver narrowly missed a group of children as they were crossing the road. The heart-stopping moment, which took place in Edinburgh, was caught on camera. Three children were crossing the road on Arkaig Gardens in the south of the city, as a red car waited for them to pass. But a black vehicle zoomed by, narrowly missing the group. The last of the trio just made it across the road before the black vehicle passed, with the Sunday, June 1, 2025 incident caught on CCTV, Edinburgh Live reports. The concerned resident whose children were crossing has said the neighbourhood has rising problems with 'speeding and dangerous driving', with motorists 'using the estate as a cut-through'. They believe it was 'only millimetres from being a fatal accident'. Bogdan Adamczyk said: "We are experiencing daily incidents of speeding, dangerous driving, and antisocial behaviour involving loud, illegal and antisocial exhausts on surrounding roads, especially from delivery drivers and other vehicles using the estate as a cut-through. John, of Kenilworth Terrace and Richard, of Melrose Gardens, both Lochore, admitted abducting and assaulting the two boys on September 30. The brothers drove around during the frightening ordeal, telling the children they were "giving them a fright", before dropping them off. At 9.45pm the mum of one of the boys heard a car pull up outside. The court heard John Saunders was pulling her boy by the jumper and told the mum what had happened. 'It's simply not acceptable for civilians to take the law into their hands, especially when children are involved.'
