OSCAR PIASTRI rained on Lando Norris' parade to win a sodden Belgian Grand Prix.
The fearless Aussie driver left pole-sitter Norris for dust after just one lap to take the lead and see out a largely uneventful race in Spa.

It means Piastri stretched his lead at the top of the table to 16 points from just eight ahead of the weekend, having also finished second in the sprint race, ahead of the third-place Brit.
Charles Leclerc sealed the third and final podium spot today after a fierce battle with Max Verstappen, who had to settle for fourth, while George Russell came in fifth.
Lewis Hamilton put in an absolute shift to finish in seventh from 18th after starting in the pit lane due to taking on a new power unit in his Ferrari.
The race was delayed by a whopping one hour and 20 minutes after Spa was hit with its usual downpour, that even KO'd the race in 2021.

The safety car zipped around the track with the drivers following behind, with their cars spraying out water like sprinklers.
After four laps it was a rolling start which got things underway as Norris held onto the lead with teammate Piastri snapping at his heels.
The ruthless Aussie nearly smashed into the back of Norris on lap five but missed by a whisker before nipping past him to take the lead.
Ferrari's Hamilton made a huge statement after what he described as a 'weekend to forget', charging into 13th from 18th after a blistering opening ten laps, before becoming the first driver to gamble on slick tyres on lap 12 - a decision which rewarded him with a big jump up the order to P8.

Meanwhile, Verstappen was in hot pursuit of Monegasque driver Leclerc in the battle for third and nearly nudged ahead.
Race leader Piastri, Leclerc and Verstappen all pitted though as Norris momentarily regained the lead.

The Brit stuffed up his pit stop though and lost a huge chunk of time staying out an extra lap as Piastri pulled clear.
Seven-time world champion Hamilton worked tooth and nail and was running in seventh, right behind Alex Albon, halfway through the race.
There was a tyre conundrum between the two McLarens as the race progressed, with Piastri asked to make a call on whether to make another pit stop or try to see it out until the end.
The 24-year-old was on the medium tyres while Norris was on the more robust hard tyre and 15 laps, as dreary as talking about tyres, followed.
Norris was the culprit of a silly mistake as he locked up at Turn 1 and lost more than half a second and it looked like game over to catch up with Piastri.
The 25-year-old had other ideas though and was closing the gap into the dying laps, with five seconds separating them at the end.
Piastri said on team radio after: "Nicely f***ing done"
Meanwhile, Hamilton added over the team radio. "Sorry about this weekend and losing you points"

Piastri denies Norris a Hungarian practice sweep

BUDAPEST, Aug 2 (Reuters) - Formula One leader Oscar Piastri lapped fastest in Saturday's final Hungarian Grand Prix practice and denied McLaren teammate Lando Norris a sweep after the Briton dominated Friday's sessions. Piastri lapped the Hungaroring with a best time of one minute 14.916 seconds, 0.032 quicker than his closest title rival. The Australian, who took his first F1 win in Hungary last year, leads Norris by 16 points after 13 of the season's 24 rounds. Ferrari duo Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton, the latter a record eight times winner in Hungary, were third and fourth 0.399 and 0.768 off the pace respectively. Mercedes' Italian rookie Kimi Antonelli showed signs of a return to form with the fifth-best time while Aston Martin continued their strong Friday form with Fernando Alonso sixth and Lance Stroll seventh. Mercedes' George Russell was eighth ahead of the Sauber pair of Gabriel Bortoleto and Nico Hulkenberg. Red Bull's reigning champion Max Verstappen was only 12th and teammate Yuki Tsunoda 19th.

Lewis Hamilton's U-turn on £1.6m supercar he made huge profit on before costly crash

Lewis Hamilton amassed an impressive supercar collection but ultimately sold his most expensive and unique vehicle due to growing concerns over its environmental impact Lewis Hamilton's 2025 Formula 1 season has been a mixed bag so far, with the seven-time world champion showing flashes of his old brilliance but struggling for consistency at Ferrari following his blockbuster move from Mercedes. ‌ Off the track, though, Hamilton remains a man of principle, known for his staunch commitment to environmentalism and social causes. It's this very ethos that led him to part ways with one of his most prized possessions - a custom Pagani Zonda 760 LH - only to see it smashed up by its new owner after he pocketed a massive profit. ‌ The one-of-a-kind supercar, which was built to Hamilton's exact specifications in 2014, was a beast of a machine. Powered by a monstrous 7.3-litre V12 engine pumping out 760 horsepower, it featured a striking purple livery with carbon fibre accents and a rare six-speed manual transmission - Hamilton's personal request, making it the first Zonda 760 to ditch the automatic. ‌ Costing him around £1.6million, the car was the jewel in his £12.5m supercar collection. But despite its jaw-dropping looks and sound, Hamilton wasn't entirely smitten, once slamming its handling as "terrible." By 2021, Hamilton's growing environmental consciousness, spurred by his efforts to reduce his carbon footprint, forced a tough call. Speaking at the 2020 Tuscan Grand Prix, he revealed he'd stopped driving his supercars, opting instead for his electric Mercedes EQC. "I'm making a lot of changes in my personal life," he said. "I don't drive any of the cars that I own any more. I only drive my [electric Mercedes] EQC." The Zonda, a gas-guzzling icon, no longer fit in with his green philosophy. So, he sold it. And he didn't do badly out of it either. The car fetched a staggering £8.5m, landing Hamilton a tidy £6.9m profit. Tragically, the Zonda's story took a grim turn in 2023 when its new, unnamed owner lost control in the Penmaenbach Tunnel in Conwy, Wales - crashing it into the wall. Photos shared online showed the car in a sorry state, with a smashed front clamshell, broken suspension, and damaged doors, windshield, and rear bumper, making for a costly repair job. ‌ Miraculously, the driver walked away unharmed, and no other vehicles were involved. The crash wasn't the Zonda's first brush with disaster either - Hamilton himself had pranged it in Monaco in 2015, blaming a fever and lack of sleep after clipping three stationary cars. Thankfully, the Zonda has since been lovingly restored to its former glory, being spotted leaving Pagani's factory for a pre-delivery test run last September. Its metallic purple paint and bare carbon centre are back, though the LED DRLs, once deemed out of place, have been ditched. One of just five Zonda 760s ever built, it's a testament to both Pagani's craftsmanship and Hamilton's knack for making savvy decisions, both on and off the track. The 40-year-old is yet to make the podium for Ferrari, with his best results being fourth-place finishes at Imola, Silverstone and the Austrian Grand Prix this year. He's currently sixth in the Drivers' Championship, trailing leader Oscar Piastri by over 150 points. He's also 30 points behind Ferrari team-mate Charles Leclerc and just once place ahead of Kimi Antonelli - the young driver who replaced him at Mercedes. Up next is the Hungarian Grand Prix this weekend, a race Hamilton has won a record eight times, though not since 2020.
