Social Security June 2025: Here's When the Next Round of Payments Will Be Sent Out
June's Social Security payments are here. Here's the full payment schedule for the month. CNET The first round of Social Security payments were sent out earlier this week, to people who've been receiving benefits since before May 1997 and those who also receive Supplemental Security Income. For everyone else, when you get paid depends on when you were born. We'll explain. Social Security benefit payments are sent monthly to people who've applied for their retirement, survivors or disability benefits. The payments are sent in waves throughout the month. When you receive your Social Security check is determined by how long you've been receiving benefits, whether you receive additional government benefits, or the day of the month you were born. Read on to find out how your payment date is determined, when you should receive your check, and the full payment schedule for the month of June. This is the Social Security and SSDI payment schedule for June. Social Security payment schedule for June 2025 If you have received Social Security since before May 1997 June 3 If your birthday falls between the 1st and 10th of any given month June 11 If your birthday falls between the 11th and 20th of any given month June 18 If your birthday falls between the 21st and 31st of any given month June 25 How to determine your Social Security payment date Social Security payments are typically paid out starting on the second Wednesday of the month. The remaining two payments will be paid out on the following two Wednesdays of the month. Which week you receive your payment depends on your birthdate. There is one big exception, which we'll cover below. Birthdate between Social Security check date 1st and 10th 2nd Wednesday of the month 11th and 20th 3rd Wednesday of the month 21st and 31st 4th Wednesday of the month Other federal benefits will not be sent the same day If you've received Social Security benefits since before May 1997, or receive Social Security and Supplemental Security Income, your payment schedule isn't determined by your birthdate. Instead, payments are paid out every month on the same date with a couple of exceptions. Social Security payments will be sent out on the 3rd of each month, while SSI payments are sent out on the 1st of each month. These dates will sometimes change if the 1st or the 3rd of the month falls on a weekend or holiday. For example, March 3 of last year fell on a weekend, so Social Security recipients received their March payments two days early, on March 1. The only benefits that are paid on the same schedule are Social Security and Social Security Disability Insurance. Paper Social Security checks are going away soon An executive order from the White House will end the use of paper Social Security checks on Sept. 30. This means all payments after that date will be sent digitally, including direct deposits, debit and credit cards, digital wallets and other real-time payment systems to reduce the overall cost of sending physical checks to beneficiaries. The decision is not surprising when you consider that only 485,766 Social Security checks are mailed each month, which pales in comparison to the 68,104,184 direct deposit payments made each month. While this will undoubtedly be an adjustment period for those people who have been receiving physical checks, moving mailed benefits payments to digital forms will increase security. It's important to note that some exclusions will be made for certain individuals. A missing Social Security check? Try these steps If your check fails to arrive when it's supposed to or not at all, the Social Security Administration suggests waiting three additional mailing days before contacting it. After that, you can call the national toll-free number: 1-800-772-1213. The SSA notes that "wait times to speak to a representative are typically shorter in the morning, later in the week and later in the month." If you're having trouble reaching the SSA through the national number, you can use its office locator to find a local office. iPhone WWDC Wishes: What We Want to See Apple Include in iOS 19
Apple is set to hold its Worldwide Developer Conference on Monday, when the tech giant will show the world what it's been cooking up during the past year for iOS 19 -- or iOS 26 -- the software that runs the iPhone. Until then, CNET's experts have their own ideas about what Apple should bring to the iPhone. While iOS 18 brought some useful new features to all iPhones, like RCS messaging, and Apple Intelligence to newer iPhones, we're still taking bets on what Apple will include in iOS 19. Reports suggest Apple is planning a significant redesign of the iPhone OS, changing everything from icons, apps, menus and more. But CNET's writers and editors have a few ideas we'd like to see in the upcoming OS. Some things we've asked for in the past, like customizable lock screen controls, have come to fruition, so maybe we'll hit the mark again this year. End the pettiness once and for all! -- Abrar Al-Heeti An easier way to manage unused apps Unused apps still take up precious memory on your iPhone. James Martin/CNET I have more apps on my iPhone than I'll ever use, after years of installing things to try out and then forgetting about them. Shunting everything into the App Library helps get it out of mind, but that's the app version of keeping a box of cables you think you might need some day. So I'd like a way to clean up apps, similar to how you can identify large apps in Settings > General > Storage. Let me see when I installed them, the last time I used them and be able to delete the ones I no longer want. I know this sounds fiddly but the thought of going through them all manually is exhausting, so that will never happen. -- Jeff Carlson Searchable clipboard manager for all your copy and paste needs A clipboard manager could remember multiple things you copy so you can paste them at a later time. Apple/CNET I want a clipboard manager in iOS 19. The iPhone has a single copy and paste option, meaning if you copy something, and then copy something else, that first thing you copied is lost. For iOS 19, I'd love to see a searchable clipboard manager, one that has a history of all the things I've copied in the last hour, day, week or even month. And if I paste something, I'd like to see multiple options that I can choose from appear right at my fingertip. -- Nelson Aguilar More customization options for all screens Can I move the flashlight control around on the lock screen, please? James Martin/CNET I want more lock screen, home screen and Control Center customization options, please. I'd like to place my lock screen controls elsewhere on the screen so I don't accidentally open any control -- including, yes, my flashlight. Same thing with the home screen. I appreciate being able to place apps anywhere as long as they are within Apple's oppressive grid that locks our apps into little boxes. If you have large icons -- like I do -- there's an entire empty row at the bottom where it looks like apps or folders can go there but they can't. Let us breathe the air of freedom, Apple! Please, for the love of everything good, let me move the scroll bar on the right side of the Control Center. I keep hitting it when I open the Control Center and it takes me to a page I don't intend to be on, which makes it frustrating to use. -- Zach McAuliffe Long press, double click and more action button triggers The action button is a small, useful tool already but it could be so much more. Jeff Carlson/CNET Now that the Action button is on more iPhones, please add support for triggering different shortcuts with multiple presses. In its current setup, I can set the Action button to trigger one action at a time. By default it can toggle between turning on the ringer and putting your iPhone into silent mode. But there are a number of other options for it like being able to open the Camera app and take a photo or make an elaborate automation in the Shortcuts app like to use it to order coffee from Dunkin'. But the Action button could do so much more if Apple would add support for multiple input clicks. Like it could be a toggle for ringer/silent mode with a single long press, but do something else (like turn on/off the flashlight) with a double-long press. I think this would add so much functionality to the button and as a result open it up to even more people taking more advantage of it. -- Patrick Holland Better Log video editing tools You can already shoot Log videos on your iPhone, now we just need better editing tools for those videos on the device. Apple I want iOS 19 to add better editing tools for Log video. The ability to shoot Log footage directly on the iPhone is amazing for enthusiastic filmmakers like me but it can only be edited by transferring it off of your phone to an iPad or MacBook. I'd love to see Apple bring deeper editing tools to be able to add cinematic color grades to your Log footage directly on your iPhone. -- Andrew Lanxon Intelligently organize photos by event in the Photos app Manually creating albums can take up a lot of time and effort. Apple/Screenshot by James Martin/CNET Okay, we're all glad that in iOS 18 Apple improved the Photos search by adding AI image recognition to actually bring up all the images of your cats. It slightly makes up for the questionable revamped layout of photos and albums that confuses me to this day. I'd love it if in iOS 19, the Photos app had a new way to view photos: in a timeline intelligently organized by event. Say you go to the park for a birthday and have a bunch of photos clearly from the same occasion -- the app prompts you to confirm they're all connected, asks for a title and, boom, event logged. Then I could look at a vertical timeline of logged events from the past few months or years, all of which can be searched if I can't quite remember, say, when I last went to the park. Yes, I can do this manually by making albums, but it's the kind of fastidious labor I just can't bring myself to keep up with. That's what I want AI to do for me. -- David Lumb Simple volume controls across the iPhone Apple, please keep the volume settings I want. Jeff Carlson/CNET Sometimes it's the small changes that can help make for a smoother experience. I want to see Apple clean up volume controls. If I set the volume to a certain level, I want it to stay at that level for all applications. Sometimes the settings can vary depending on what you're doing. Too often I come across the problem of lowering my volume to prepare to listen to something -- but surprise! -- the volume is loud again because I put in headphones and it keeps the louder setting I used the last time I listened to music in my headphones. All are new, but there is one thing to keep in mind regarding the Horizon Pro. This one gets a 90-day Woot warranty, as opposed to a full manufacturer warranty. Yaber T2 Outdoor Projector Yaber T2 Outdoor Projector Yaber T2 Outdoor Projector See price at Amazon Save $110.00 Limited Time Deal! If you're looking to get a good projector, but also want to optimize the value per dollar you spend on it, the Yaber T2 is my personal favorite option. In fact, this is the one I use. I spent my own money on it, too. I can tell you I am more than happy with the investment. You don't have to trust me alone, though. My co-worker Kaitlin also gave it a great review! One of its main advantages is that it is actually portable. Many competitors claim portability, referring only to the small design, but they need to be plugged in to work. The Yaber T2 has a built-in battery that can run the projector for about 2.5 hours. Kaitlyn Cimino / Android Authority The projector can display content at a Full HD resolution and outputs 450 lumens of brightness. It's good in medium-to-low-light situations. If you care about size, the projection can be expanded up to 120 inches. It sounds pretty good for a projector, too. It has a couple of 8W JBL speakers. These speakers are a nice addition, because you can actually use the projector as a Bluetooth speaker, too. In audio-only mode, the battery life extends to 18 hours. If I had a request, it's that I wish it had a smart TV OS built in. But of course, the price of this projector is really low, so there had to be some sacrifices made. And if you want, Yaber also sells a Google TV dongle separately. Otherwise, you can resort to using mirroring or the HDMI port. XGIMI MoGo 3 Pro Portable Projector XGIMI MoGo 3 Pro XGIMI MoGo 3 Pro See price at Amazon Save $90.00 Limited Time Deal! If you don't mind paying $120 more, here's a nice option from XGIMI. The XGIMI MoGo 3 Pro has a smaller cylindrical design that is easier to carry around. It measures just 204.9 x 95 x 95mm. This one also projects a 1,080p image and features a 450-lumen brightness. It can also project at up to 120 inches. It's a bit better, though. It can display 90% of the DCI-P3 color gamut, making it pretty color accurate. It's also really nice that it comes with Google TV built in! You'll get access to your favorite apps from the Google Play Store, and it supports casting. These speakers are powered by Harman Kardon, but the output is lower at 5W. The one downside with the XGIMI MoGo 3 Pro is that it has no battery, so it needs to be plugged in to work. That said, it can run off a power bank as long as it can output 65W. Anker Nebula Capsule 3 GTV Outdoor Projector Anker NEBULA Capsule 3 Projector Anker NEBULA Capsule 3 Projector See price at Amazon Save $150.00 Limited Time Deal! Anker is probably the more established brand in the world of portable projectors. The brand makes great little projectors, and the Anker Nebula Capsule 3 is an industry favorite. It's a bit pricier than the two options above, but $379.99 is still a great price for what you're getting. It's also really small at 3.15 x 3.15 x 6.30in. You can easily fit it in most bags, or even a larger pocket. And unlike the XGIMI option, this one actually has an integrated battery. It can run the projector for up to 2.5 hours. This one also has Google TV. You can install and run your favorite streaming apps, all available from the Google Play Store. It also has Google Cast support. You'll need a Wi-Fi connection, or you could just use your phone's hotspot feature. Specs are pretty good, as well. It can project at Full HD, as large as 120 inches. It has 200 lumens of brightness, which isn't as good as the other options, but it will offer a pleasant experience in a darker room. It also has a built-in 8W speaker. While we aren't happy to see some sacrifices, we understand that making a smaller, more portable unit with all the bells and whistles requires some sacrifices. XGIMI Horizon Pro 4K Projector Let's take things up a notch. We know many of you want a high-end experience, and if you want it to come from a projector, here's a fantastic deal for you. It is still pricey at $769.99, but this one's retail price is a whopping $1,699! This is a high-end model that will offer a premium experience. As its name implies, the XGIMI Horizon Pro 4K has a 4K resolution. It's also super bright, offering a brightness of 1,500 lumens. You can expand the image up to 150 inches, too, which is enormous. This one comes with Android TV, which gives users access to the Google Play Store and its immense portfolio of apps. It also still supports Google Cast. This projector, while not huge, isn't really portable. As such, it needs to be plugged in. It offers a way superior viewing experience, though. Regardless of which projector you pick, you might want to act quickly. Some of these are record-low prices, and these discounts can disappear at any point.
