's companies and the world's richest man suggested the US president should be impeached, marking a stark end to an unlikely alliance and leaving onlookers wondering what was next.
The hostilities between the former allies intensified when the president criticised Tesla CEO
Musk
in the Oval Office and the pair then lobbed verbal barbs at each other on their social media platforms:

The trouble between the two started brewing days ago, when
Musk
denounced
Trump
's sweeping tax-cut and spending bill.
The president initially held his tongue while
Musk
campaigned to torpedo the bill, saying it would add too much to the nation's $36.2tn in debt.
Trump
broke his silence on Thursday, telling reporters he was 'very disappointed' in
Musk
.
'Look, Elon and I had a great relationship. I don't know if we will anymore,'
Trump
said.
As

spoke,
Musk
responded in real time on X.
'Without me,

would have lost the election,' wrote

, who spent nearly $300m backing

asserted that

's signature tariffs would push the US into a recession later this year.

's businesses also include rocket company and government contractor SpaceX and its satellite unit Starlink.

, whose space business plays a critical role in the U.S. government's space programme, said that as a result of
Trump
's threats he would begin decommissioning SpaceX's Dragon spacecraft. Dragon is the only US spacecraft capable of sending astronauts to the International Space Station. Late on Thursday,

backed off the threat.

WASHINGTON D.C, US - Media OutReach Newswire - 7 June 2025 - Vietnam's Minister of Agriculture and Environment Do Duc Duy led a delegation of nearly 50 agencies, agribusinesses, and associations to the United States from June 2–6, 2025, to promote trade and increase imports of agricultural and timber products. The delegation held business dialogues in Iowa, Ohio, Maryland and Washington, D.C. The visit aimed to boost two-way trade and open new opportunities for Vietnam to import more U.S. agrifood and timber, contributing to a more balanced trade relationship. Minister Duy noted that while both countries have strong agricultural sectors, their strengths are complementary rather than competitive. Mistakenly deported man Abrego Garcia returns to US to face migrant transport charges
Kilmar Abrego Garcia, the man mistakenly deported from Maryland to El Salvador by the Trump administration, has returned to the United States to face criminal charges of transporting illegal immigrants to the US, Attorney General Pam Bondi said on Friday. Mr Abrego Garcia faces two criminal counts in an indictment filed in federal court in Tennessee on May 21, more than two months after his March 15 deportation, court records showed. Ms Bondi said Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele agreed to return Abrego Garcia to the US after officials presented his government with an arrest warrant. 'The grand jury found that over the past nine years, Abrego Garcia has played a significant role in an alien smuggling ring,' Ms Bondi said in a press conference. In a statement, Ms Abrego Garcia's lawyer, Andrew Rossman, said it would now be up to the US judicial system to ensure he received due process. 'Today's action proves what we've known all along – that the administration had the ability to bring him back and just refused to do so,' said Rossman, a partner at law firm Quinn Emanuel. Mr Abrego Garcia was deported to El Salvador, despite an immigration judge's 2019 order granting him protection from deportation to El Salvador after finding he was likely to be persecuted by gangs if returned there, court records show. Critics of President Donald Trump pointed to the erroneous deportation as an example of the excesses of the Republican president's aggressive approach to stepping up deportations.
