The answers, really, have been similar to the ones uttered during any Aaron Judge slump of any length in any season. That he's Judge. That there are no worries. That it's only just a matter of when he'll start producing again.
But Judge has been stuck in a rough stretch at the worst time for a struggling Yankees offense, hitting just .211 — and, most glaringly, zero extra-base hits — in six games since returning from his right elbow flexor strain.
When combined with the eight before his 10-day absence, Judge has gone 8-for-47 with 19 strikeouts across 14 games, serving as his second slump since June arrived and the historic early-season tear simmered.
This one, according to hitting coach James Rowson, revolves around timing.
'He's up there getting his timing back, getting his tempo back, and each day, he's just getting a little bit closer to getting to that spot,' Rowson told The Post before Judge went 1-for-4 with an RBI single and two strikeouts during the Yankees' 6-2 win over the Twins on Monday.

When asked about his swing Sunday, Judge responded with, 'There's always room for improvement.' It's the same thought he'd have after a 3-for-4 game, he said.

Still, a chunk of this recent skid has occurred when he's only able to serve as the designated hitter because it doesn't result in elbow pain — which has prevented him from playing right field as he works through a throwing program.
Judge won't return to the outfield during the Minnesota series, manager Aaron Boone said.

He strung together singles in three consecutive games, including a clutch one to tie the game in the sixth inning Friday.
He drove a single into left field in the seventh Monday to give the Yankees an insurance run. But Judge's power, the anchor for his 37 homers and 87 RBIs in 2025, has temporarily disappeared.
'I never think it's far off with Aaron,' Boone said. 'And I think that's the case right now. I think it's a matter of time before he goes on one of those Aaron runs and kinda can carry the group a little bit.'

Still, in the eyes of Rowson, 'It's just a guy trying to find his groove again.' Those things happen, he added, and Judge's absence marked his longest since missing nearly two months in 2023 after running into the Dodger Stadium fence and injuring his toe.
The optics surrounding this latest slump — the elbow injury, the lineup that has only powered its way to three wins in 10 games, the spiraling season — don't help, though.
'You do have those times where maybe it's not going the way you want it and you're not winning consistently so you're trying to do a little too much,' Rowson said, 'but I don't really anticipate where he's at lasting too long. I think he's gonna start having the good at-bats that we expect and start getting back to where he normally goes.'

Yankees Likely to Cut Ties With 7-Time All-Star In Favor of Ben Rice: Insider

Goldschmidt's career was at a crossroads when he signed a one-year contract with the Yankees, coming off a steep decline in his final season with the St. Louis Cardinals. But although he hasn't rebounded to his 2022 Most Valuable Player form, it's clear the 37-year-old still has plenty to offer. Goldschmidt can still pick it on defense, and though his .753 OPS is merely good, not great, he's one of the best platoon bats in the sport with a 1.193 mark against left-handed pitchers. Some team that struggles to hit southpaws will surely want to add him to their lineup. (Photo by New) More Y But will the Yankees have any interest in a reunion? Don't count on it, says Jim Bowden of The Athletic. On Friday, Bowden strongly insinuated that Goldschmidt would leave the Yankees in free agency this winter, due mainly to the emergence of 26-year-old Ben Rice as a starting-caliber first baseman. "Goldschmidt's bat is less potent, but he still plays plus defense at first base and is a strong clubhouse presence," wrote Bowden. "He's hitting .276 with 26 doubles and 10 homers this season and has lowered his strikeout rate 7 percentage points compared to 2024. He'll likely be leaving the Yankees after one year because Ben Rice appears ready to take over first base full-time in 2026." Rice, who has been starting half of the Yankees' games at catcher over Austin Wells of late, has a .783 OPS, 17 home runs, and an impressive 54.8% hard-hit rate this season. With five more years of team control, he's certainly a strong candidate to usurp Goldschmidt's job in a full-time capacity. If that's the case, then Goldschmidt can simultaneously thank the Yankees for rejuvenating his career and try to make them look foolish for letting him go. After all, someone will want a seven-time All-Star in their clubhouse. More MLB: Mets Predicted to Lose 5-Time All-Star Pete Alonso in Free Agency Surprise

Season series: First meeting; Cardinals won 2-1 in 2024 The Yankees lost to the Minnesota Twins 4-1 Wednesday, but they did win the previous 2 games a combined 15-3 to take the series. New York has largely struggled in August, having gone just 4-8 and falling to third place in the AL East. Yankees at Cardinals picks and predictions Cardinals 4, Yankees 2 Moneyline BET CARDINALS (+110). The Yankees have been abysmal on the road lately, dropping 5 of their last 6 away games. Gil was hammered in his lone road start this season, allowing 5 earned runs to the sub-.500 Miami Marlins Aug. 3. Meanwhile, the Cardinals have won 3 of their last 6 at home. They have scored at least 3 runs in 9 of their last 11 games, so that consistency should help them come out on top Friday. Back CARDINALS (+110). Run line/Against the spread PASS. There's no great option on the run line. The Yankees -1.5 (+135) are too risky to consider as favorites, while the Cardinals +1.5 (-160) are slightly too expensive as underdogs. Over/Under BET UNDER 9 (-120). Both teams are trending toward the Under here. The Cardinals are 2-5 O/U in their last 7 games. They have allowed 3 or fewer runs in 5 of those as well. The Yankees are 2-5-1 O/U in their previous 8 games and are 54-62-5 O/U on the season. They have allowed 4 or fewer runs in 6 of their last 8 contests. Back UNDER 9 (-120). Yankees Get Major Cody Bellinger Update About Looming Contract Decision

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. The New York Yankees lost Juan Soto to the New York Mets in free agency, but traded for Cody Bellinger to help replace him. Bellinger has been great for the Yankees, but he may not be in the Bronx for long. His contract has a $25 million player option for next season but nothing beyond that. He has been rumored to opt out this winter, and MLB insider Jon Heyman revealed he "surely" will. Bellinger will find a better contract in free agency, and the Yankees figure to be in the mix for him. He has put together a great season, showing off his bat and versatile defense. NEW YORK, NEW YORK - AUGUST 13: Cody Bellinger #35 of the New York Yankees celebrates his third inning home run against the Minnesota Twins in the dugout with his teammates at Yankee Stadium on August 13, 2025 in New York City. MoreHe is slashing .270/.325/.491 with 22 home runs through 112 games. The Yankees do have Spencer Jones in Triple-A, and if Bellinger is gone, Jones could take over. However, keeping Bellinger would likely benefit the Yankees regardless of Jones' status. Bellinger is a two-time All-Star and former National League MVP. He has been a key part of the Yankees' success and has continued to play well during the team's rough stretch. Heyman also noted that the Yankees do, in fact, want to keep him, so after he opts out, the Yankees could be willing to outbid other teams. An outfield featuring Aaron Judge, Bellinger and Jones in the future could be great for the Yankees. Bellinger also gives Aaron Boone another option at first base. He should be one of the team's top priorities this winter. More MLB: Cubs Manager Craig Counsell Under Fire for Latest In-Game Decisions
