RTD bus carrying passengers slides off icy US 36 in Westminster
DENVER (KDVR) — A section of U.S. 36 in Westminster was down to one lane after a Regional Transportation District bus slid off the icy road with six passengers on board.
On Wednesday just before 7 a.m., the Westminster Police Department posted on X about the scene. Police said the bus was heading to the RTD Park and Ride near U.S. 36 and Sheridan Boulevard when it slid off the road. The Westminster Fire Department said the bus slid off the Denver-bound on-ramp.
Only one lane was open for drivers heading onto the highway around rush hour. The fire department said a tow truck arrived at the scene just after 8 a.m. and removed the bus.

According to the police department, six passengers were on the bus, but no injuries were reported. Those passengers were safely moved to another bus.
As of 8 a.m., COtrip isn't showing any slowdowns, although it said the roads are icy and have snowpacked spots. Meanwhile, Westminster police said drivers should use caution as the roads are icy.
There are still flakes falling, but the biggest concern is the cold, which is causing slick roads.

Watch: Landspout tornado spotted after warnings in Adams, Weld counties
DENVER (KDVR) — A landspout tornado was seen near Lochbuie on Friday afternoon. The National Weather Service reported that a trained spotter saw a landspout tornado at 4:10 p.m. two miles south-southwest of Lochbuie. Denver weather: Sizzling sunshine all weekend Severe weather prompted tornado warnings Friday afternoon in Adams and Weld counties and a ground stop at Denver International Airport. The warnings, which expired at 4:30 p.m., covered areas north of the airport, including Brighton, Fort Lupton, Lochbuie and Hudson. A viewer shared a video with FOX31 showing the conditions near Interstate 76 around Brighton. The Denver International Airport is also impacted by the weather, with a ground stop being issued due to windy conditions, according to the Federal Aviation Administration website. Online flight tracking tool FlightAware shows that 423 flights in and out of DIA have been delayed on Friday, and six have been canceled. Most of the delays were on Southwest, United and SkyWest. The combination of moisture, unseasonably warm temperatures and strong outflow winds helped to lift thunderstorms as high as 45,000 feet high near the Lochbuie area along highway 76 in Adams county. The storm later produces 60 mph wind across many eastern plains neighborhoods along with quarter size hail near Fort Morgan. There will be a few isolated afternoon thunderstorms from I-25 to the Kansas and Nebraska state lines on Saturday. There is a marginal chance for severe hailstorms in extreme eastern Colorado. The main weather feature this weekend will be the heat! Too hot for pop on both Saturday and Sunday will see temperatures in the 90s in the lower elevations with 70s and 80s in the mountains! Some parts of southern Colorado may hit 100 degrees on Father's Day !
