Melissa Reddy has opened up about the abuse she suffered while working as a Sky Sports presenter and her plans to return to the literary world following her TV departure.
After joining Sky as a senior reporter three years ago, Reddy became a familiar face on the network, discussing all the latest news and gossip in the Premier League. The South African reporter delved into some of the biggest stories in football, mainly focusing on Manchester United and Liverpool.
However, it was confirmed on Wednesday that she would be departing her role with Sky Sports, alongside six other colleagues. Popular presenter Rob Wotton has also left, following a 27-year tenure, after the cancellation of The Football Show programme that he fronted.
Presenters Teddy Draper and Jasper Taylor are set to say their farewells to Sky Sports News this summer as well, having spent 18 and 11 years respectively in their roles. Longtime star Jeremy Langdon is another star set to leave, after a 20-year career with the broadcaster.
Senior reporter Fadumo Okow and another news editor are set to depart their roles with the network too. Reddy's exit has made the most headlines due to her stature in the network, but the 38-year-old is already setting her sights on the next chapter of her career.
In a long statement on Instagram, she said (via the Mirror): "ELEVENTH!!! season of Premier League coverage done and I've called time on three years at Sky. I'll still be doing bits and bobs for them.
"But I'm genuinely soooo excited to share all the things I'll be working on soon, which will allow me to focus on my strengths and passions. For those that have BEEN asking for the past five years, YES - that will include new books."

Reddy delved into the many challenges she has faced throughout her career as a sports journalist. She openly shared that the situation hasn't much improved since her early days, but expressed gratitude for the support she's received.
She continued: "After the first press conference I covered in England all those years back, a journalist turned to the press officer and said, 'Why are you letting them come over here and take our jobs. You just want a little lick, don't you?!'
"I would love to be able to say that things have changed in that regard, but alas... the abuse as a foreign woman of colour in this sphere never ceases. I will always be stronger than the hate; I know who I am, I know the substance of my work.

"You can't dim the light of someone who learned how to shine in the dark. The messages I've received from managers, players, club staff, my Sky and wider industry colleagues - people who know me, my journey and sacrifices over the past decade - carry more weight than any of the nasty noise. Let's cook."
Messages of support poured in for Reddy via her social media post, with many former colleagues sending their best wishes for her future endeavours. Formula 1 presenter Natalie Pike said: "Thank you for always shining a light for the women in our industry."
Commentator Pien Meulensteen said: "Good luck looking forward to seeing what you get up to next." Meanwhile, presenter Reshmin Chowdhury added: "Keep shining, my lovely! Can't wait to see what's cooking."

Sir Chris Hoy shares 'positive outcome' after being diagnosed with stage 4 cancer
Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Sir Chris Hoy has opened up about his experience with prostate cancer, sharing that his journey to raise awareness has brought him a sense of 'purpose'. The six-time Olympic gold medalist shocked the world last year by announcing his terminal stage four diagnosis. But rather than slowing down, the 11-time world champion track cyclist is now focused on advocacy, encouraging more men to recognise the risks of the disease. He told the Sunday Times that his Instagram inbox is filled with messages from other men who detected their prostate cancer early after being motivated by his experience. The 49-year-old now works alongside Prostate Cancer UK, which provides an online risk-checking tool that more than 180,000 men have used. "That campaign has saved lives," he told the newspaper. "And you know, in all the chaos and all the fear and all the horror of first being diagnosed with stage four cancer, you can never imagine any positive outcome coming from that situation. "So to know that there is one has given me a purpose. In difficult moments you remind yourself, actually there is a net positive from this whole situation. And I'm lucky because I have a platform." The Hoy family has faced significant challenges since Sir Chris' diagnosis. The cyclist's wife, Sarra, has also been grappling with a severe form of multiple sclerosis (MS). She was diagnosed shortly after discovering that her husband's condition had advanced to stage four. Asked about his wife's illness, Sir Chris said she doesn't discuss it too much. The Edinburgh-born athlete continued: "When the days are difficult, she doesn't ever admit to it, but clearly the thoughts are, 'Is this the start of a decline? Is this how it's going to be from now on?' "It's very difficult, and she's so stoic and strong, and not willing to ask for sympathy." How is prostate cancer tested? While there is no single test for prostate cancer, medics may conduct physical examinations, MRI scans, biopsies or blood tests to make a diagnosis. One such blood examination is referred to as a PSA test. This determines the level of prostate-specific antigen in your blood, where increased levels could indicate prostate issues, according to the NHS. Prostate Cancer UK states that 'normal' PSA levels are typically less than 3ng/ml, though this can vary due to factors like age and medication. The NHS does not routinely offer PSA testing. However, you may be encouraged to have one if you are exhibiting symptoms of prostate cancer. Blood in urine or semen, struggling to urinate or peeing more frequently than usual are among the potential signs of this disease. Current NHS guidance explains: "You may be offered a PSA test if a doctor thinks you have symptoms that could be prostate cancer. "If you're having treatment for a prostate condition you may be offered regular PSA tests to check how the treatment is working. Men aged 50 or over can ask their GP for a PSA test, even if they do not have symptoms. Anyone aged 50 or over with a prostate can ask for a PSA test. "There is a risk a PSA test result may not be accurate, and you may be offered tests and treatment you do not need. You can discuss the benefits and risks of a PSA test with your GP." Dani Dyer and Jarrod Bowen marry as she shares stunning wedding pictures at luxury hotel
Dani Dyer and Jarrod Bowen marry as she shares stunning wedding pictures at luxury hotel Dani Dyer and Jarrod Bowen have tied the knot in an outdoor ceremony and the former Love Island star shared the news with her fans on Instagram Jarrod Bowen and Dani Dyer (Image: 2025 Dave Benett ) Former Love Island star Dani Dyer has tied the knot with West Ham United and England footballer Jarrod Bowen in a beautiful outdoor wedding. Dyer, who rose to fame after winning the fourth series of ITV's hit dating show Love Island in 2018 alongside partner Jack Finchman, is also known as the daughter of EastEnders legend Danny Dyer. Delighting her Instagram followers on Saturday, Dyer posted a heartfelt photograph of the newlyweds walking down the aisle hand-in-hand, captioned "The Bowens". The 28-year-old reality star has given a few details about her nuptials during the planning process. Dani opted for a low-key wedding, and keen to stick to tradition, she reportedly stayed separately from her football star fiancé on the eve of the wedding as she stayed with her parents, Danny and Jo. The Mirror reports the couple went for a pastel colour scheme at the £500-a-night Langley Hotel in Buckinghamshire, where the nuptials took place. The luxury hotel was originally built as a hunting lodge for the third Duke of Marlborough and includes 150 acres of formal gardens and parklands, originally designed by Lancelot 'Capability' Brown, a serpentine lake and an outdoor pool. It is close to Pinewood Studios and just 40 minutes drive from central London, making it a favourite with film stars, including Tom Cruise, Angelina Jolie and Jeff Goldblum. Content cannot be displayed without consent Clearly a fan of Bridgerton, the TV star's nuptials were said to be themed around the Netflix hit, with lots of violins there to perform music. And while the celebrity couple's fan base is large, the guest list for their VIP wedding has been kept small as the couple are said to have invited only 50 guests to celebrate their big day. In May 2023, the couple celebrated the arrival of their twins, Summer and Star, and shared the sweet update of their engagement in July the previous year on Instagram with a simple yet profound caption reading "us forever" with a ring emoji for emphasis. She also shares a child, Santiago – who she calls Santi, with her ex-Sammy Kimmence, who she dated before appearing on Love Island and after her split from Finchman. Dyer later separated from Kimmence, who was jailed for three-and-a-half years in 2021 for defrauding two pensioners out of more than £34,000. Danny Dyer and Dani Dyer (Image: PA Wire/PA Images ) Besides her reality TV fame, Dyer has featured on Channel 4's Celebrity Gogglebox with her father, providing laughs and sharp critiques. In a 2021 episode of EastEnders, Dani made a memorable guest appearance as Jeanette, a pregnant taxi driver, in scenes with her actual father's character, Mick Carter. Article continues below Looking forward, Dyer is set to appear in an exciting new Sky TV series, working with her father. They will be taking on a charming investment project running their own caravan park on the Isle of Sheppey in Kent, an adventure that fans can follow in "The Dyers' Caravan Park".
