AEW star Abadon is finishing up with All Elite Wrestling. They took to social media on May 30, 2025, to announce that their contract with AEW will expire in June and is not being renewed.
In her statement, Abadon shared her current feelings: "My time with AEW is coming to an end. My contract expires in June and I will not be renewed." They continued, "The emotions I'm currently trying to manage are incredibly difficult and full of conflict as I reflect on my time there."
Despite the news, Abadon expressed a strong desire to continue her wrestling career. "My goal is to not let this be it for me, because I love wrestling too much to just stop," they wrote. "I've put in a lot of hard work that I will now be able to showcase more often."
Abadon, known for her terrifying and unique "Living Dead Girl" persona, first made an impact in AEW in 2020. After impressive initial appearances on AEW Dark, they were officially signed by the company in June of that year.

Abadon's horror-inspired gimmick, complete with unsettling mannerisms and a striking look, immediately set them apart in the women's division. During Abadon's early tenure, Abadon had several memorable moments, including a notable AEW Women's World Championship eliminator match against then-champion Hikaru Shida in late 2020.
While not always a consistent presence on Dynamite or Rampage, Abadon was a unique attraction whenever they appeared, often instilling fear in Abadon opponents and the audience. Abadon's last televised AEW match was in December 2023.

More recently, Abadon had been competing on Ring of Honor (ROH) television throughout 2024 and into early 2025, continuing to display their distinctive style.
Abadon ended her statement with a message of resilience and an open call for future bookings. "While my heart is currently broken you can bet that I'm still going to show up for training next week. If you are looking to book me please send an email to bookabadonhere@gmail.com Thank you," she concluded.
It will be interesting to see where Abadon goes from here after being with AEW for the last few years. She is clearly talented in the ring, and the fact that she has a unique character could give her an edge over others looking for work, especially from a big promotion.

Broadway Week: Full List of Shows In September 2-for-1 Ticket Offer
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Theatergoers will be able to score 2-for-1 tickets for 24 different Broadway shows from September 8 and September 21. The deals are available twice a year in an attempt to make Broadway more accessible, regardless of income. "By running this event twice a year, Broadway fosters community engagement and ensures the arts remain within reach, even in an inflationary environment," a financial expert told Newsweek. Why It Matters Broadway Week's 2-for-1 tickets have been available for limited times since 2011. Since the average cost of a Broadway show ticket ranges from $100 to $150, the 2-for-1 deal can significantly lower the cost burden for those who might not attend a Broadway show otherwise. Broadway theaters stand closed along an empty street in the theater district on June 30, 2020, in New York City. Broadway theaters stand closed along an empty street in the theater district on June 30, 2020, in New York To Know There are 24 shows included in the 2-for-1 Broadway week deal. This includes: & Juliet Aladdin The Book of Mormon Buena Vista Social Club Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club Chicago Death Becomes Her The Great Gatsby Hadestown Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Hell's Kitchen Jeff Ross: Take a Banana for the Ride The Lion King Mamma Mia! Maybe Happy Ending Moulin Rouge! The Musical MJ The Musical Oh, Mary! Operation Mincemeat The Outsiders Punch Six The Musical Stranger Things: The First Shadow Wicked Six of those productions, Buena Vista Social Club, Jeff Ross: Take a Banana for the Ride, Mamma Mia!, Operation Mincemeat, The Outsiders, Punch, and Stranger Things: The First Shadow, will be included in Broadway Week's special deal for the first time. "From groundbreaking musicals to timeless classics, Broadway is the heartbeat of New York City, and with NYC Broadway Week, we are, once again, making sure that more New Yorkers and visitors can enjoy the magic of the stage," New York City Mayor Eric Adams said in a statement. Broadway has regained momentum in recent years following the coronavirus pandemic, with attendance now exceeding pre-pandemic levels, said Kevin Thompson, the CEO of 9i Capital Group and the host of the 9innings podcast. "The deal not only fuels excitement but also gives more people access to classic shows and new productions," Thompson said. What People Are Saying Julie Coker, President and CEO of New York City Tourism + Conventions told ABC 7: "NYC Broadway Week is a celebrated tradition in our city, providing visitors with access to world-class productions found nowhere else in the world. Since its inception in 2011, the program has provided significant support to New York City's dynamic Broadway theater industry, generating over $196 million in revenue." Kevin Thompson, the CEO of 9i Capital Group and the host of the 9innings podcast, told Newsweek: "At a time when the cost of living is high, this initiative makes theater more accessible for audiences who may not otherwise afford it. By running this event twice a year, Broadway fosters community engagement and ensures the arts remain within reach, even in an inflationary environment." Alex Beene, a financial literacy instructor for the University of Tennessee at Martin, told Newsweek: "This deal has been offered in regular intervals in order to attract more fans to come see shows and has been largely successful. Long before current inflationary problems, theater tickets had been creeping up for years in pricing, as the cost of running a show skyrocketed." What Happens Next With the deal going live for shows next month, many viewers will be able to introduce new patrons of the arts into the Broadway scene, Beene said. "It's hard to develop long-term fans when the minimum price to entry is so high," Beene said. "Offering 2-for-1 ticketing deals gives current fans a means for inviting someone new to the Broadway scene for free and hopefully creating a future patron from them. It's a savvy business tactic."

Cody Rhodes Shuts Down Talk Of Major WWE Career Change
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. For years, the question of a potential heel turn has followed Cody Rhodes, but "The American Nightmare" has now given his most definitive answer yet on the topic. On his podcast, the reigning Undisputed WWE Champion claimed that he has "no interest" in turning to the dark side. The comments appear to put an end, at least for now, to one of the most persistent fan debates in modern wrestling. Rhodes made the remarks on the latest episode of his "What Do You Wanna Talk About?" podcast. Cody Rhodes: "I Don't Know If My Heart Would Be In It" While discussing the topic of character alignment with Becky Lynch, Rhodes explained that he does not share her enthusiasm for playing a villain. He stated that he simply has no desire to be a "bad guy." "I have the complete opposite outlook," Rhodes said. "On all these metrics, on all of these measurables, I just don't have any interest in being a bad guy. I just don't know if I could do it. I don't know if my heart would be in it." Cody Rhodes' History of Conflicting Comments This new, definitive statement is the latest chapter in a long and often confusing public conversation about a potential heel turn. Rhodes himself has fueled the speculation with his own contradictory comments over the past year. He had previously given a "one to three years" timeline for a turn, only to walk those comments back in a later interview. PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA - APRIL 06: Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson reacts during a tag team fight with Roman Reigns against Cody Rhodes and Seth "Freakin" Rollins during Night One of WrestleMania 40 at Lincoln Financial Field... PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA - APRIL 06: Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson reacts during a tag team fight with Roman Reigns against Cody Rhodes and Seth "Freakin" Rollins during Night One of WrestleMania 40 at Lincoln Financial Field on April 06, 2024 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. More The constant discussion is rooted in his final year in AEW, where a large portion of the audience turned on him and began booing him, despite his babyface role. His steadfast refusal to turn heel at that time became a major meta-storyline, and the "what if" has followed him ever since. More news: WWE Superstar Announces Retirement Match The Top Babyface Reigns Cody Rhodes' new comments come just weeks after he had his biggest babyface moment since returning to WWE. At SummerSlam, he defeated the vicious heel John Cena in a Street Fight to win back the Undisputed WWE Championship. The victory solidified his status as the undisputed top hero in the entire company. This new statement, combined with recent reports that WWE has no plans to turn him heel, suggests that Rhodes is fully embracing his role as the fan-favorite champion. While his "American Nightmare" persona has its roots as a heel character from his time in NJPW, it appears that for the foreseeable future, he will continue to be a champion for the people.
