AIIMS Nagpur torchbearer of innovation, says Nadda
Nagpur: AIIMS Nagpur on Friday became the country's first institution to host a national-level Best Practices Conclave, an initiative launched by the Union ministry of health and family welfare.

virtually inaugurated the two-day event, which brought together directors and senior faculty from AIIMS institutes across India.
Calling AIIMS Nagpur a "torchbearer of innovation and leadership", Nadda lauded the institute for taking the lead in convening this pioneering conclave. The event aims to showcase and share successful models in medical education, patient care, hospital governance, and digital transformation among the new-generation AIIMS.
"This conclave is a pioneering initiative that seeks to consolidate the rich experiences of new AIIMS in three key domains: teaching, learning and research; hospital services; and governance and patient convenience," Nadda said. He emphasized that institutions like AIIMS Nagpur are not only addressing regional health disparities but also making significant contributions to research, education, and affordable healthcare delivery, particularly in underserved regions such as Vidarbha.
Underlining the govt's commitment to excellence, Nadda noted that all AIIMS campuses are redefining patient care by offering high-quality, evidence-based, and affordable treatment backed by state-of-the-art infrastructure and specialised services. AIIMS Nagpur came in for the minister's special praise for its role in promoting interdisciplinary research and structured mentorship in line with national health goals.

Union health secretary Punya Salila Srivastava, in her inaugural address, stressed the importance of leadership and collaborative growth. "Institutional growth will depend on the leader's vision. I encourage all institutions to learn from the best practices of their peers and take forward the govt's mission of excellence in medical education and universal healthcare," she said.
Dr Prashant Joshi, executive director and CEO of AIIMS Nagpur, said, "It is a matter of pride for Nagpur and central India that this historic first edition of the Best Practices Conclave is being held here.
AIIMS Nagpur remains committed to becoming a model institution that integrates regional relevance with national standards in teaching, research, and patient care."
Participating institutions included AIIMS Bhopal, AIIMS Jammu, AIIMS Jodhpur, AIIMS Bilaspur, AIIMS Patna, AIIMS Raipur, AIIMS Deoghar, AIIMS Guwahati, and others, along with representatives from PMSSY and the ministry of defence.

At least two Nashik students score over 600 marks in NEET
Nashik: At least two medical education aspirants from Nashik achieved scores exceeding 600 marks in the NEET, the results for which were announced on Saturday. Pradeep Nahar, an instructor at a Nashik institute, said, "Yaksha Patil scored 615 marks and Nipun Bedse scored 607 marks. Five others scored more than 550 marks from our academy. " He said that these students achieved above 99.5 percentile points. From his institute, 180 students participated in the examination, yielding positive results. At another institute, coach Nitin Pathak said over 40% of his students successfully cleared the examination with impressive rankings, securing positions in prestigious medical colleges. "We have Heeral Chandak scoring 578 marks, followed by Payal Chavan with 558 marks, Samruddhi Tapadia scoring 546 marks, and others," said Pathak, noting their achievement of above 99 percentiles in biology. Roughly 80 students sat for the examinations. Nahar said the MBBS govt medical college cut-off would likely be approximately 500 marks, while private colleges would be around 450 marks. "This year, we expect to see at least six to eight people from Nashik getting seats in the AIIMS colleges, as against three securing admissions in AIIMS colleges last year. Gorakhpur: AIIMS begins preps for first convocation on June 30
All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Gorakhpur, has started preparations for the convocation of its first batch of MBBS students scheduled for June 30. The event is likely to be presided over by President of India Droupadi Murmu. AIIMS executive director and CEO Maj Gen (Dr) Vibha Dutta confirmed that a formal invite has been sent to the President to confer degrees upon the 50 MBBS graduates of the first batch (2019-2025). AIIMS, Gorakhpur, media incharge Dr Aroop said that the institution is awaiting confirmation from Murmu, and chief minister Yogi Adityanath, who is expected to be the chief guest at the event. Meanwhile, as a step towards strengthening its medical education, research, and forensic services, AIIMS, Gorakhpur, recently conducted two autopsies in its newly operational mortuary complex. The autopsies were performed by Dr Ashish Saraf and Dr Navneet Ateria from the department of forensic medicine, following standard technical protocols. Major Gen (Dr) Vibha Dutta stressed the need to further strengthen forensic medicine and medicolegal services at AIIMS, with the aim of providing hands-on training to medical students while delivering timely, humane post-mortem services in the region. He added that AIIMS, Gorakhpur, is in the process of replacing its private security guards with ex-army personnel. Around 300 ex-army soldiers will be deployed after initial training to aid patients' relatives and handle their concerns. The health ministry provided these 300 ex-army personnel after the tender for a private company, which previously provided 450 security guards, expired on May 31. At the request of the security guards, their contract was extended until June 30, and notices have already been issued to them, officials said.
