Tractor Supply Celebrates Hometown Heroes Anniversary With Its Largest-Ever Volunteer Event and $1 Million Donation

Business Wire18-06-2025
BRENTWOOD, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Tractor Supply Company (NASDAQ: TSCO), the largest rural lifestyle retailer in the United States, and the Tractor Supply Company Foundation announced today they are donating an additional $1 million in total to charity organizations committed to supporting our nation's military service members, veterans and first responders. The Company and its foundation made an initial $1 million donation in June 2024 to celebrate the launch of its Hometown Heroes initiative, which brings together the Company's efforts to support the selfless men and women who serve America under one banner.
Tractor Supply launched the second year of its Hometown Heroes initiative yesterday with a Back-to-School Brigade® event in partnership with Operation Homefront, one of the program's 10 recipient organizations. More than 250 Team Members, as well as soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) at Fort Campbell and members of 4-H and FFA gathered at the Company's Store Support Center (SSC) to pack 500 backpacks with school supplies for military children—marking the largest volunteer event ever held by Tractor Supply.
'At Tractor Supply, support for our military service members, veterans, military families and first responders is entrenched in our culture and values,' said Colin Yankee, chief supply chain officer at Tractor Supply and former U.S. Army Captain. 'Many of our Team Members and customers have served our country or communities, and we're proud to stand with them. From charitable giving to hands-on volunteerism, we're committed to showing appreciation for our Hometown Heroes in meaningful ways.'
Tractor Supply and the Tractor Supply Company Foundation have selected 10 nonprofit organizations to receive $100,000 each as part of this year's $1 million donation. They are:
9/11 Day: Inspires millions of Americans to volunteer, donate to charities and perform other good deeds and acts of kindness on September 11 to honor the memory of those killed or injured on 9/11. In addition to the $100,000 donation, Tractor Supply Team Members, including members of the Veterans Team Member Engagement Group, will gather on September 11, 2025, for a day of service. In 2024, more than 100 Team Members joined Tractor Supply President and CEO Hal Lawton to pack thousands of meals for Americans in need.
Bob Woodruff Foundation: Invests in programs that help our service members, veterans, their families and caregivers thrive. Hometown Heroes funding supports the organization's grant-making, research, community-building and public education initiatives to ensure these individuals have stable and successful futures.
Farmer Veteran Coalition: Provides micro grants to veterans who are in their beginning years of farming or ranching. Tractor Supply has partnered with FVC for the last seven years to assist farmer veterans from all branches of service. Through the joint initiative, the Company has provided more than 400 farmer veterans with Tractor Supply gift cards to access supplies, equipment and training to successfully launch their farm businesses.
Folds of Honor: Provides educational scholarships to the families of fallen and disabled service members and first responders.
K9s For Warriors: Fights veteran suicide by providing trained service dogs (many that are rescue animals) to military veterans suffering from PTSD and other traumas. Through this donation, Tractor Supply will sponsor three dogs—Scarlett on behalf of Tractor Supply, named after former Tractor Supply CEO Joe Scarlett; Murphy on behalf of Petsense by Tractor Supply, named after a heroic military veteran; and Rex (Rx) on behalf of Allivet by Tractor Supply.
National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Foundation (NLEOMF): Honors fallen law enforcement officers, tells the story of American law enforcement and makes it safer for those who serve. In addition to supporting NLEOMF's work in remembering those who have lost their lives protecting our communities and providing best practices to help keep officers safe, Yankee represented Tractor Supply at the 2025 National Law Enforcement Memorial Candlelight Vigil in Washington, D.C., paying tribute to fallen officers from across the country by reading their names aloud.
National Police Dog Foundation: Raises funds for the purchase, training and veterinary care of law enforcement K-9s. Every October 28, National First Responders Day, Tractor Supply stores across the country host police dogs and their handlers for a celebratory demonstration.
National Volunteer Firefighters Council: Provides critical resources, programs, education and advocacy for volunteer fire, EMS and rescue services across the nation. With the ability to balance volunteer firefighting with their work commitment, thousands of Tractor Supply Team Members serve as passionate and dedicated volunteer firefighters within their communities.
Operation Homefront: Provides relief and recurring family support programs and services to help military families overcome short-term difficulties. Operation Homefront is one of Tractor Supply's newly selected Hometown Heroes donation recipients.
Team Rubicon: Serves global communities before, during and after disasters and crises. Tractor Supply first supported the veteran-led humanitarian organization in its recovery efforts following Hurricane Helene in 2024.
The Hometown Heroes initiative also includes:
A Spotlight Series that recognizes Team Members who embody the spirit of being Hometown Heroes with a $5,000 donation made to a Hometown Hero charity of their choice.
The Neighbor's Club Hometown Heroes benefit, which includes automatic top-tier Preferred Plus Neighbor status, where veterans, service members and first responders are eligible to enroll. This Hometown Heroes benefit is one of the few recognition programs that provide everyday savings with no limit on total savings and no brand exclusions.

3 Reasons Meta Platforms Stock Has Looked Unstoppable, but Can It Stay That Way?

Key Points Meta has been experiencing incredible growth outside of North America. Its margins have been improving and it has also continued to grow its user count. A possible breakup of the company, however, could adversely impact its growth potential. 10 stocks we like better than Meta Platforms › Meta Platforms (NASDAQ: META) stock has been jumping after the company reported earnings recently. It's now trading at all-time highs as the social media giant has continually impressed investors over the past couple of years. It has been showing strong growth on multiple fronts and has looked downright unstoppable. But whether it can continue to be a hot buy is by no means a sure thing, as there are many question marks around the company. Here's a look at what's been behind the stock's impressive performance of late, and also what risks investors should consider before buying shares of Meta Platforms. 1. Revenue has been rising fast outside of North America The headline from Meta's second-quarter earnings performance was that the company beat expectations as sales rose by 22%, totaling $47.5 billion, and they beat expectations of $44.8 billion. Earnings per share of $7.14 also came in far better than the $5.92 analysts were expecting. But what was particularly surprising and impressive was where the company's growth has been coming from. Over the past two years, advertising revenue from the U.S. and Canada has grown by a little under 42%. In other markets, the growth rate has been much higher. In Europe, revenue has risen by 56% over a two-year period and it's up 64% in Meta's rest of the world segment. Asia-Pacific growth of just over 42% was also slightly higher than the growth Meta experienced in the U.S. and Canada market. Overall, there looks to still be considerable growth potential for Meta when looking at international markets, which is an encouraging sign for growth investors. 2. Meta is becoming much more efficient Another great sign for investors is that Meta's business is doing more with less. Its expenses as a percentage of revenue have been coming down sharply in the past couple of years. Its operating margin this past quarter was 43%, versus 38% in the prior-year period. Meta has been utilizing artificial intelligence to make its operations more efficient and as it continues to do that, this trend may continue. Furthermore, if its margins expand, its bottom line can look even more impressive, making the social media stock appear cheaper in the future. 3. Number of daily active people continues to rise Back in 2022, there were concerns that Meta Platforms' business was in trouble as Facebook experienced its first-ever decline in daily users. But those fears look to be long gone as the company has now been steadily growing its user count. With close to 3.5 billion daily active people who are using one of its apps (Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, or WhatsApp), it's little wonder why the company is a top choice for marketers and ad spend. While it's not easy to continually add users when the numbers get this high, Meta has been able to do just that, demonstrating how truly unstoppable its business has been in recent years, or so it may seem. Risks investors can't afford to ignore Meta's business has looked unstoppable but that doesn't mean it doesn't come with risks. There is still an antitrust battle looming over the business that could result in the loss of two of its most highly prized assets: Instagram and WhatsApp. They are particularly popular among younger audiences and if a breakup occurs, that could be a big loss for Meta's business. And right now, investors don't appear to be pricing in that risk. Another issue is that while user count has been rising, a report from The Wall Street Journal earlier this year found the company took a lax approach to getting scammers off its platforms, and that it has effectively become a hub for fraudsters. According to an analysis from 2022, as much as 70% of new advertisers were either promoting scams or selling illegal or low-quality goods. These are potentially serious concerns that investors shouldn't overlook. While the business is doing incredibly well, if its numbers are being inflated due to bad actors on its platforms, then that could lead to significant issues down the road. Should you buy Meta Platforms' stock today? As of Thursday's close, Meta's stock has risen by 32% since the start of the year. It's trading at a forward price-to-earnings multiple of 28, based on analyst estimates. Its incredible profit growth is impressive and is a big reason why the stock continually looks cheap. But I wouldn't rush to buy the stock, at least not until there's more clarity about what happens with Instagram and WhatsApp, and if a breakup ends up taking place. And I'm also wary about its user growth, and whether scams and fake accounts could be contributing significantly to its growth. As good as Meta's results have looked in recent quarters, I'm not convinced the business is as unstoppable as it appears to be, as there could be trouble ahead. Stock-Split Watch: Is Rigetti Computing Next?

Key Points Rigetti is part of the high-flying quantum computing space. Rigetti's board of directors approved a reverse stock split last year, but never actually conducted one. The stock has rocketed as investors have gotten more interested in the potentially groundbreaking sector. 10 stocks we like better than Rigetti Computing › While not necessarily a big deal, stock splits can elicit strong interest from market watchers because they often indicate that something else is amiss. Rigetti Computing (NASDAQ: RGTI) has become one of the big winners over the last year, thanks to investors' interest in the high-flying quantum computing space. Many believe quantum computing has the potential to revolutionize society similar to the way artificial intelligence does. While it's difficult to predict exactly when a company will conduct some kind of stock split, Rigetti has been a volatile name this year. Is the company on stock-split watch? What are stock splits and reverse stock splits? Before we can examine whether Rigetti could be on stock-split watch, let's first look at what stock splits and reverse stock splits are. Stock splits allow companies to artificially change their share price and shares outstanding without changing their market cap. The important thing for investors to understand is that a stock split does not change an investor's equity position. Traditional stock splits bring the share price down and the outstanding shares up, while reverse stock splits do the opposite. Let's look at an example of a traditional stock split. Say a company is trading at $75 per share and an investor owns 10 shares for a total equity position of $750 right before that company conducts a 3-for-1 stock split. The company would essentially give investors three shares of every one share they own. So instead of having 10 shares, the investor would now have 30 shares. The share price would fall to $25 because the equity position stays the same ($750/30). So why would a company do a stock split? Well, perhaps a stock just went on a big run and now the company wants to lower the price to make it more attainable for retail investors. Or perhaps management wants to grow the share count to make the stock more liquid. A reverse stock split can be helpful if a company on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) or Nasdaq falls out of compliance. Both of these exchanges require that stocks trade for at least $1 per share for at least 30 days. So, if a company is struggling but thinks they can fix their issues and wants to stay on the largest exchanges, a reverse stock split can be a good tool to bridge the gap. Could Rigetti undergo some kind of split? As a quantum computing company, Rigetti is essentially designing super computers that use qubits to compute much more complex equations and problems than can be done on regular computers today. While computers run on bits, the most basic unit of digital information, qubits make processing more complex info in a more efficient manner possible. Potential quantum computing use cases, according to IBM, include the ability to simulate molecular behavior and biochemical reactions, solutions to combat climate change, and even make groundbreaking innovations in machine learning. In mid-July, Rigetti announced that its 36-qubit system had achieved a two-times lower gate error rate, the best performance seen on one of its quantum systems yet. The company is hoping to pull off a similar accomplishment on its soon-to-be-released 100-qubit system. The more qubits, the more powerful the computing capacity on the quantum computer. Interestingly, until late last year, Rigetti traded for less than $1 and did face potential delisting. Shareholders even approved a reverse stock split in 2024. However, it never came to pass. Huge interest in the sector led the stock to soar over 1,370% over the past year. The company now has a $4.7 billion market cap. After the big run, Rigetti could conduct a stock split. However, a $15 stock doesn't feel unattainable, and most of the company's outstanding shares are publicly traded on the Nasdaq, according to MarketWatch, so I doubt it has any liquidity issues. Given that Rigetti is now safely in compliance with Nasdaq's rules, I also don't see any pressing need to conduct a reverse stock split. Quantum computing companies are still trying to perfect the technology, and really haven't commercialized quantum computers yet, so they don't generate a ton of revenue or earnings. Rigetti only generated $1.5 million of revenue in the first quarter of this year. It's possible that if market conditions deteriorate, investors may not be willing to pay such a high price, which could trigger a big sell-off. However, given the interest in quantum computing and Rigetti's technological progress, it's hard to imagine a sell-off bringing the stock price below $1. For these reasons, I see no pressing need for the company to conduct any kind of stock split. Should you buy stock in Rigetti Computing right now? Before you buy stock in Rigetti Computing, consider this: The Motley Fool Stock Advisor analyst team just identified what they believe are the for investors to buy now… and Rigetti Computing wasn't one of them. Veteran trader posts a major warning for the stock market

Human beings and fear go back a long way. It's an ancient survival mechanism, passed down through the generations, as our cave-dwelling ancestors contended with wild animals, natural disasters and each other. Don't miss the move: Subscribe to TheStreet's free daily newsletter The right kind of fear can keep you alive, but the wrong kind can keep you from making a move. "It's only natural," said TheStreet Pro's Stephen Guilfoyle. "Fear of the dark. Fear of the unknown. Fear of the known. You still do what you have to." Guilfoyle, whose trading career dates back to the floor of the New York Stock Exchange of the 1980s, in a recent column considered a certain kind of fear - where you're moving through an unfamiliar environment and you get a feeling you may have company. "Maybe a big cat or something predatory might be tracking you," he said. "That realization always makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. I call that the 'nasties.'"The stock market can be a source of the nasties when the numbers start heading into the red, as they have been lately. And it's not the big cats you have to worry about in this jungle. It's the bears. More Experts Stocks and Markets Podcast: Prairie Operating CEO on energy businessDave Ramsey warns Americans on Social SecurityLegendary fund manager reveals new trades after S&P 500 rally Stocks were tumbling at last check on Aug. 1 on signs of a weakening economy. The Bureau of Labor Statistics said that just 73,000 jobs were created in July, causing the unemployment rate to tick up to 4.2% from 4.1% in June. President Donald Trump promptly fired BLS Commissioner Erika McEntarfer, accusing her being a political appointee who was manipulating jobs data, CNBC reported. "We need accurate Jobs Numbers. I have directed my Team to fire this Biden Political Appointee, IMMEDIATELY," Trump said on his Truth Social platform. "She will be replaced with someone much more competent and qualified." Trump also took another shot at the Federal Reserve chairman, saying that "Jerome 'Too Late' Powell should also be put 'out to pasture.'" Guilfoyle noted that things went bad on July 31 half an hour after the opening bell and "got uglier around lunchtime and uglier still going into the final hour of play." While Meta Platforms (META) and Microsoft (MSFT) rallied, Guilfoyle noted that the "joy" was put to the test early as the Bureau of Economic Analysis posted its July data for personal income and outlays as well as July consumer-level inflation. "Just a day after the quarterly data for inflation had put traders and investors at ease, the monthly data did just the opposite," he said. "Like a jaguar in the shadows, hard to see, watching from just far enough to raise those hairs on the back of your neck." He said Trump "put the whammy on 'big pharma,' sending letters to 17 leading drugmakers and demanding that these firms take steps to lower prices in the U.S. They have 60 days to get on board with his "most favored nation drug policy." Trump also signed an executive order revising tariffs on many nations that had failed to reach new trade deals with the U.S. Related: Warren Buffett sends White House blunt message on the economy "One must remember that while it may not look that ugly at the major index level, the selling was nearly constant on Thursday and markets sold off from an upward burst early on," Guilfoyle said. Eight of the 11 S&P sector SPDR ETFs closed in the red on July 31, and Guilfoyle, known on Wall Street as Sarge, called upon his military experience to explain what happens next. "So, this is where we realize that we may be up against something," he said. "This is where you stop moving, get low, unsnap your Ka-bar and switch your weapon off of 'safe.'" (The Ka-bar is a combat knife.) Losers beat winners by almost 3 to 2 on the New York Stock Exchange and by almost 2 to 1 on the Nasdaq, Guilfoyle said Advancing volume took just a 32.9% share of composite NYSE-listed trade and a 36.1% share of Nasdaq-listed trade, he added. More important, "aggregate trading volume increased across the listings at both the NYSE and Nasdaq as well as across the membership of the S&P 500." "Gang, you know what that means, right?" he asked. "Thursday qualifies as a potential 'Day One' bearish reversal." He said that a large selloff on Aug. 1 would be seen as a continuation of Day 1 and that "we actually need to see a break or pause in between any Day 1 and any Day of Confirmation." (FYI: The S&P 500 finished Aug. 1 down 1.6%.) "Can anything help? Can anything make it worse?" he asked. "The algorithms that control the point of sale stand ready to overreact, force momentum overshoot and create market inefficiency." "You know that as this is what they are designed to do, so keep your helmet on and buckle your chinstrap," Guilfoyle added.
