Mitch Garver and Mariners beat Rangers in 12 as all 3 games of series go extra innings

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Mitch Garver hit a two-run homer in the 12th and drove in four runs, and the Seattle Mariners beat the Texas Rangers 6-4 on Sunday to win a series in which all three games went to extra innings. The Mariners took a 3-1 lead in the 10th on RBI singles by Donovan Solano and Garver, but Corey Seager's two-run shot pulled the Rangers even. The Mariners won the series opener 7-6 in 12 before dropping the middle game 3-2 in 10. It was the first time three games in the same series for Texas went to extra innings since all four at Seattle in September 2002. The Mariners won the first three games of that series before the Rangers took the finale. Solano put Seattle ahead 4-3 in the 12th on a groundout that third baseman Josh Jung couldn't get out of his glove, allowing automatic runner Luke Raley to score. On the next pitch from Cole Winn (0-1), Garver's fourth homer went 437 feet into the second deck in left field. Seager's tying homer was his 10th, an opposite field shot to left center off Carlos Vargas. Trent Thornton (2-0) gave up Seager's sacrifice fly in the 10th, striking out two in his two innings. Key moment Texas rookie left fielder Alejandro Osuna threw out Cal Raleigh at home during Seattle's two-run 10th. Without that, Seager's shot couldn't have tied the score in the bottom of the inning. Key stat Four of the past five Texas games have gone to extra innings, and the Rangers have played a league-high five since June 14. Before that, they set franchise records by playing the first 70 games this year without going to extra innings and 95 in a row going back to 2024. Up next The Mariners return from their second 10-day road trip in a month to face Kansas City on Monday. RHP George Kirby (1-4, 5.40 ERA) is set to start. The Rangers continue a six-game homestand on Monday against Baltimore, with LHP Patrick Corbin (4-7, 4.24) set to start. ___ AP MLB:

White Sox rally for 4 runs in seventh to beat Giants 5-2 and keep Verlander winless

CHICAGO (AP) — Kyle Teel hit a go-ahead, two-run double with the bases loaded in the seventh and the Chicago White Sox beat the San Francisco Giants 5-2 on Sunday to keep Justin Verlander winless in 13 starts. Jonathan Cannon and five relievers combined to strike out 11. Tyler Gilbert (2-1) struck out two in an inning for the win. Mike Vasil pitched around a walk in the ninth for his second save. Mike Tauchman and Chase Meidroth singled with one out off Erik Miller (4-1) in the seventh before Miguel Vargas drew a walk against Ryan Walker to load the bases. Teel doubled, Walker balked to bring in another run and Lenyn Sosa singled to drive in the fourth run of the inning. Verlander allowed a run, five hits and two walks, striking out three in six innings in sometimes rainy conditions. The three-time Cy Young Award winner's 13-game winless streak is the longest by a Giants starter since at least 1901. Before signing with San Francisco in January, Verlander's previous longest winless streak was seven starts. Christian Koss had two hits and Patrick Bailey doubled to drive in a run for the Giants, who have lost 11 of 16. Tauchman and Teel each had three hits for the AL-worst White Sox, who won for just the fifth time in 17 games. Cannon, who was reinstated from the injured list before the game, allowed a run in three innings. Willy Adames drew a four-pitch walk against Jordan Leasure with the bases loaded to give the Giants a 2-1 lead in the fifth. Key moment The Giants loaded the bases in the eighth. Vasil got a 6-4-3 double play to end the inning and yelled as he walked off the mound. Key stat Verlander needs 38 wins to reach 300 in his career. Up next Giants: RHP Logan Webb (7-5, 2.52 ERA) is set to start Monday's series opener at Arizona. RHP Ryne Nelson (4-2, 3.71) is scheduled to pitch for the Diamondbacks. White Sox: RHP Shane Smith (3-5, 3.38) will start Tuesday at the Los Angeles Dodgers opposite RHP Yoshinobu Yamamoto (7-6, 2.61). ___ AP MLB:

Thinking of Watching Brad Pitt's 'F1' at Home? Think Again

Brad Pitt's latest film is a full-throttle, high-octane tribute to Formula 1 racing—and it's built to be seen on the biggest, loudest screen available. Shot with immersive race footage and anchored by Pitt's signature ease and intensity, the film is part sports spectacle, part character study, and all energy. Critics are already calling it 'velociously loud and exceedingly exciting,' with Rotten Tomatoes praising Pitt's 'effortless charisma' as the engine driving the story forward. And while there's no shortage of sports dramas on streaming platforms, F1 isn't trying to fit neatly into that lane. It's going for speed and scale. The film follows a former Formula 1 driver Sonny Hayes (played by Pitt) who returns to the circuit to mentor young rising star, Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris). It's classic redemption-arc stuff, but what makes it hit harder is the visceral, ground-level view of the racing world. Pitt reportedly trained on actual F1 tracks and filmed during real Grand Prix weekends, which gives the racing scenes a lived-in authenticity that's hard to fake. But what really sets F1 apart is how it looks and sounds in IMAX because it was "Filmed For IMAX." In fact, the whole movie is in the 1.90:1 aspect ratio. The roar of the engines. The tension of a corner taken just a little too fast. The vibration in your chest when tires peel off the track. It's the kind of sensory overload that streaming can't replicate—no matter how nice your soundbar is. It's not just a movie; it's a rush. Whether you're a diehard F1 fan or just here for peak Pitt, F1 rewards you for showing up to the theater. And in an era where most action gets watered down into safe, streaming-ready content, this one doesn't flinch. It floors it. Watch it big. Watch it loud. Watch it in IMAX.
