Sony Xperia 10 VII redesign revealed
To say that Sony is conservative about changing the design of its smartphones would be a laughable understatement - for anyone but the biggest Sony fans it's almost impossible to tell different generations apart.
This, however, may change for its next mid-ranger, the Xperia 10 VII. According to a case maker on Amazon, Sony will be switching things up this time, with a different arrangement of its camera sensors compared to its predecessor which launched last year.
Sony Xperia 10 VII new design
Whereas the Xperia 10 VII has the two cameras arranged vertically, the Xperia 10 VII goes with a horizontal arrangement instead. Sure, it's not the biggest design change ever, but for Sony it's pretty significant.
The images in this article come from a case listing on Amazon. The fact that this went up might mean that Sony is getting ready to unveil the Xperia 10 VII - after all, it's very late compared to the 10 VI, which was released last June. The original Xperia 10 from 2019 was the last internationally available Sony smartphone to come with a horizontal camera island, so it's been a while. Sony Xperia 10 VI 128GB 8GB RAM $ 409.99
Unfortunately, the Xperia 10 VII's specs are still a mystery. We'll let you know when we find out more.
Thanks for the tip!

RedMagic 11 will boast a world first
Vlad, 21 August 2025 The RedMagic 11 is coming later this year, and today in China some details about it have been outed. The phone is going to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset, which Qualcomm is announcing in September. It will boast an upgraded built-in cooling fan, which will allow it to have an IP68 dust and water resistance rating. The combination of an active fan and an IP rating was pioneered last month by the Oppo K13 Turbo and K13 Turbo Pro, but those two are only water resistant. The RedMagic 11 will be the first ever smartphone to have an active cooling fan as well as both water and dust resistance. While this information was leaked by Digital Chat Station on Weibo, RedMagic's General Manager Jiang Chao has confirmed it, so it's official now. Source 1 (in Chinese) | Source 2 (in Chinese)

Sony may change the Xperia design for the first time in years. Here's why it might not matter.
Sony Xperia 10 VI | Image credit — PhoneArena Sony is famously conservative with its smartphone design, and its devices have been looking largely the same for years. That may be about to change as the company is likely to redesign its upcoming mid-range smartphone, the Xperia 10 VII. A listing by a case maker on the Japanese Amazon shows the Xperia 10 VII with a fresh new look. The changes aren't anything drastic, but Sony may rearrange the cameras on the back. So, instead of the vertical double camera, the Xperia 10 VII may feature a horizontal camera. While that might not sound radical, it could be a significant step for Sony, considering that the previous five generations of the Xperia 10 are barely distinguishable from each other. However, the original Xperia 10 was the last Sony device with horizontal cameras, so the change could be seen as Sony going back to the roots of the purists who are worried about the change can remain calm because the front of the device in the images appears unchanged. That shouldn't be a surprise, as most smartphones look the same from the front, save for the slimmer bezels. That's true for the iPhone 16, the Galaxy S25, and the Pixel 10 phones, the front sides of which look like their predecessors'. We know little else about the Sony Xperia 10 VII. The device is already late, as its predecessor was released in June last year. So far, we've only seen a database listing suggesting the premiere of the device will be in October.I am glad that Sony hasn't completely ditched its smartphones after it was forced to suspend the sales of the Xperia 1 VII. I don't know if such a minor redesign could help it overcome its issues, but I'll be excited for the company to return to at least some of its former glory. Good news everyone!
