New Delhi:
Diljit Dosanjh's upcoming release Sardaar Ji 3 has been embroiled in a controversy after Pakistani actor Hania Aamir was cast in the film. Diljit, who happens to be one of the producers of the film, released the trailer of the film featuring Hania Aamir on June 22. The makers have skipped the film's India release amid the India-Pakistan tensions, propelled by the Pahalgam terror attack (April 22) and the Operation Sindoor (May 7). After Diljit announced the release date of the film (June 27), authorities like the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) and the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) have decided to ban Diljit Dosanjh in India.
What's Happening
The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) President, BN Tiwari told NDTV that they have decided to issue a directive to ban Diljit Dosanjh and other producers of the film in India.
BN Tiwari told NDTV, "There will be complete non co-operation. If the film releases anywhere, we will issue a directive of non co-operation. We will ensure that Diljit Dosanjh won't get work (films or concerts) in any part of India."
"If he doesn't withdraw the release of the film, he won't get work in India," BN Tiwari added.
Along with the FWICE, the All Indian Cine Workers Association also decided to ban Diljit Dosanjh working in India.
In an X post, the body wrote, "We hereby announce a complete boycott of singer and producer Diljit Dosanjh from the Indian film industry. We urge all Indian producers, production houses, music companies, event organizers, and film workers to stand united and not associate with Diljit Dosanjh in any professional capacity.
We will approach various industry unions, workers' bodies, and stakeholders to uphold this patriotic call."
FWICE has also written a letter to CBFC to uphold the Diljit and Hania film's censor certificate.
Background
On Sunday, June 22, Dosanjh shared the film's trailer on social media and announced the film's release date.
Sharing the trailer on his official Instagram page, Diljit wrote, "Sardaar Ji 3 Releasing 27th June OVERSEAS Only/ FADH LAO BHOOND DIAN LATTAN (sic)."
The teaser of the film didn't feature Hania Aamir, while the trailer of the film showed her.
The YouTube link of the Sardaar Ji 3 trailer has been geo-blocked in India.
Sardaar Ji 3 is a horror comedy featuring Diljit Dosanjh, Hania Aamir and Neeru Bajwa.
Before Sardaar Ji 3, FWICE had banned Fawad Khan's Abir Gulaal release, which would have marked his comeback on the Indian screen after 9 years.

Kerala film conclave to be held in Thiruvananthapuram in August

The Kerala Film Policy Conclave, organised by the State government as part of the framing of a policy for the Malayalam film industry, will be held in Thiruvananthapuram on August 2 and 3 this year. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the conclave at a function to be held at the Sankaranarayanan Thampi Hall inside the Legislative Assembly complex here. Minister for Cultural Affairs Saji Cherian will preside over the function. The conclave, which will comprehensively discuss various aspects of cinema, will be attended by representatives of the seventeen states that have formulated the film policy, representatives of the National Film Development Corporation, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Union Ministry of Culture and Tourism, personalities from the Indian film industry as well as international experts, various film organisations and experts in the fields of labour and law. Comprehensive discussions will be held on various issues related to the film sector. Following the conclave, the government aims to publish the draft of the film policy within a month. The film policy committee has till now held a total of 75 meetings with various stakeholders in the industry as part of efforts at formulating the policy. One of the major issues raised by various stakeholders in the meetings was the lack of formal recognition as an industry, due to which regulations are not in place to govern most of the activities in the Malayalam film industry. Following the discussions, the film policy panel outlined thematic areas regarding issues to be taken care of by the different government departments. The key thematic area will be the one related to gender and working conditions in the industry regarding issues to be handled by the Labour and Women and Child Development departments as well as the Human Rights Commission. These include issues related to casting couch, lack of proper implementation of Internal Committees in film sets, disparity in remuneration, threats against dissenting voices, long working hours, lack of women in technical departments, exploitation by agents and substance abuse.

Diljit Dosanjh shares trailer of 'Sardaar Ji 3' featuring Pakistani actress Hania Aamir, faces backlash

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], June 23 (ANI): Singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh has found himself on the receiving end of a social media backlash after the trailer of his upcoming Punjabi film, 'Sardaar Ji 3', which features Pakistani actress Hania Aamir, dropped online. Sharing the trailer of the horror-comedy franchise on his Instagram on Monday, Diljit announced that the film will release exclusively overseas on June 27. Diljit captioned the trailer post, 'Sardaar Ji 3 releasing 27th June OVERSEAS only. FADH LAO BHOOND DIAN LATTAN.' The comments section of the actor's social media platform quickly turned into a storm of angry reactions with Indian netizens expressing their disappointment over his decision to work with a Pakistani artist, amidst tensions between the two countries. 'May we witness the most embarrassing downfall of Diljit Dosanjh in the history of public embarrassments... a kind of downfall that his PR could never salvage,' wrote one user on X. Another user added, 'As a Punjabi, I am saying this: Diljit Dosanjh has started to think he is above all. He never openly stands for the issues of Punjab and is now even betraying his own industry, which gave him this fame. Banning and unbanning are not in our control, but their artists have legitimately insulted the Punjabi film industry.' One comment read, 'I used to be his fan, but this is unforgivable. And it gives a bad name to us and the Punjab he loves to gloat about.' The controversy comes in the wake of the recent Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, followed by India's Operation Sindoor on May 7, in which air strikes were carried out on terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Several Pakistani artists, including Hania Aamir, had their social media accounts made no longer accessible in India following the ghastly Pahalgam attack. The trailer of 'Sardaar Ji 3' is currently not on YouTube India but has been shared by Diljit on his Instagram page. (ANI)
