Warangal doctor told to move magistrate over dowry, harassment probe against ‘gay' husband
The doctor had approached the court seeking directions to speed up the probe in a case filed at Hanamkonda police station against her husband and his family members under various sections of the IPC and the Dowry Prohibition Act. She alleged that the police were biased in favour of her husband and that a weak investigation would lead to his acquittal during trial.
However, after examining the available evidence, the high court said it could not interfere in the manner of investigation or direct the police on how to conduct it.
Citing Supreme Court precedents, the court clarified that as the complainant in the case, she has the right to present her grievances before the magistrate under relevant provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) and request further investigation if necessary.

After marriage, the woman claimed her husband avoided physical intimacy, and upon checking his devices, she found intimate photos with other men and gay dating apps.
When she confronted him, he allegedly retaliated by circulating morphed images of her, damaging her reputation.
The woman told the court that the police had filed the chargesheet relying only on her husband's confessional statement and failed to gather supporting evidence.
However, the high court observed that the police did record statements from six witnesses, collected WhatsApp chats, medical records related to her and the accused, mental health treatment details, and photographs from his iPad, together forming a 54-page evidence.

‘Teeth Plucked, Hit With Rods': UP Couple Calls Man Home, Kills Him With Pliers
Last Updated: A couple in Uttar Pradesh's Sambhal allegedly killed 45-year-old Anish using tools like a screwdriver and pliers. In a horrific incident, a couple allegedly assaulted a 45-year-old man using tools like a screwdriver and a pair of pliers, and then killed him in Uttar Pradesh's Sambhal. The police have detained the couple and are interrogating them, NDTV reported, The incident took place on Saturday when the accused couple called the victim, identified as 45-year-old Anish, to their home and beat him brutally. They pulled out his teeth with pliers and hit him repeatedly with iron rods. While the victim's family said he was murdered over a Rs 7 lakh loan, police have speculated an extramarital affair as the reason behind the horrific crime. According to Anish's father, Mustakim, the victim's wedding was finalised, and he had gone to his neighbour's home (the accused couple's home) to ask for the Rs 7 lakh he had lent them years back. 'They killed my son so brutally that I cannot even describe it," he told the news outlet. Around 2 am on Saturday, Anish's elder brother got the information about his younger brother's assault. An injured Anish, who somehow managed to escape from the couple's house, was found lying in a pool of blood in his home's drawing room. He was taken to the community health center, where he succumbed to the injuries. Additional Superintendent of Police Rajesh Kumar Srivastava said police got information about Anish's death late last night. 'We are registering a murder case and further action will be taken." Srivastava said the investigation had revealed that Anish's neighbour Raees Ahmed and his wife Sitara had murdered him. 'During questioning, we found that the victim, Anish, was in a relationship with Sitara. Raees and Sitara plotted Anish's murder, invited him over and then killed him," he said as quoted by the news outlet. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Israel plans Gaza takeover: IDF preps for 'theatres of war'; launches massive military drill
File photo: Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu (Picture credit: AP) The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on Sunday launched a surprise military exercise, codenamed "Dawn", to test the readiness of its general headquarters and key command centers. As per the Jerusalem Post, directed by Chief of Staff Major General Eyal Zamir, the drill aims to assess the army's ability to respond swiftly and effectively to large-scale attacks. According to the IDF, the exercise includes surprise scenarios and multi-scene events across all potential "theaters of war." IDF Comptroller Brigadier General (res.) Ofer Sarigm and his team are overseeing the exercise, evaluating reaction time in both quality and capability. 'The IDF will continue and initiate a series of audit activities across all commands, branches, and units in order to improve their competence and readiness,' the military said in a statement. The exercise comes as Israel presses ahead with plans to expand its military campaign in Gaza, including the capture of Gaza City, a move approved by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's security cabinet on Friday, drawing domestic and international criticism. Netanyahu will hold a press conference with international media in Jerusalem on Sunday at 4:30 pm local time (07:00 pm IST). The press conference marks his first time meeting with the international press following his security cabinet's decision to expand the war in Gaza and take control of Gaza City. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Free P2,000 GCash eGift UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now Undo On Saturday night, the IDF struck a Hezbollah operative in southern Lebanon's Aynata area, alleging the individual was gathering intelligence on Israeli forces in violation of the ceasefire agreement with Lebanon. Netanyahu, who held a three-hour security meeting last week, was presented with multiple options for advancing the Gaza campaign. In a post on his official X account, the prime minister's office said, 'The IDF is prepared to carry out any decision made by the Security Cabinet.' Thousands of Israelis took to the streets in Tel Aviv on Saturday to protest the government's Gaza plan, with rally organizers and hostage families warning Netanyahu of political consequences if hostages are killed during the operation. 'If you invade parts of Gaza and the hostages are murdered, we will pursue you in the town squares, in election campaigns and at every time and place,' Shahar Mor Zahiro, a relative of a slain hostage, said as quoted by news agency AFP. According to Gaza's health ministry, more than 61,000 Palestinians have been killed since Israel launched its offensive in 2023, figures the United Nations says are reliable. Hamas's initial attack that triggered the war killed 1,219 people in Israel, based on official tallies cited by AFP. The Palestinian Authority has condemned Israel's plan as 'a new crime,' with President Mahmud Abbas stressing the 'urgent need to take action to stop it immediately,' as reported by Wafa news agency. Foreign ministers of Italy, Australia, Germany, New Zealand, and the UK have also criticised the move, warning it would worsen the humanitarian crisis, endanger hostages, and risk a mass civilian exodus. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has signalled tacit approval of Netanyahu's plan, saying earlier this week that the decision is 'pretty much up to Israel,' while committing the US to lead humanitarian aid efforts, as per The Hill. Despite warnings from Israeli military chief Zamir that occupation could endanger hostages, Netanyahu has remained defiant, insisting: 'We are not going to occupy Gaza — we are going to free Gaza from Hamas.'
