Iran Invites ‘Snap-Back' Sanctions

The 12-day Iran war has changed the Middle East, and even Europe is now willing to raise the pressure on the ruling mullahs in Tehran. In dragging its feet on nuclear inspections and material, Iran is inviting 'snap-back' sanctions. France, the U.K. and Germany wrote Wednesday to inform the United Nations of their readiness to snap back the international sanctions on Iran that were lifted by Barack Obama's 2015 nuclear deal. They'll do it by the end of the month, they say, unless Iran shows the bare minimum of interest in diplomacy. Since July the Europeans have offered an extension if Tehran resumes negotiations with the U.S. and cooperation with U.N. inspectors.
