‘Boer Soek ‘n Vrou': New crop of farmers and Reandi Grey behind the wheel

The 2025 season of kykNET's reality dating series Boer Soek 'n Vrou kicks off on 7 August with a 'fresh crop' of farmers and actress Reandi Grey as the new presenter.
'For years, it was like my industry bucket list – what I wanted to do,' Reandi – who grew up on a farm – enthused about her first presenter role.
The Diepe Waters actress follows in the footsteps of Marciel Hopkins, who played Cupid for the past four years, covering thousands of kilometres in her mission to hook farmers up with a city girl.

Reandi Grey joins 'Boer Soek 'n Vrou' as presenter No 7
Reandi is the seventh Boer Soek 'n Vrou presenter after Elma Postma, Angelique Gerber, Nadia Beukes, Minki van der Westhuizen, Leah van Niekerk and, of course, Marciel.
The actress won the hearts of viewers as Esti Fouche in the iconic soapie 7de Laan before joining the cast of Diepe Waters as Anja in 2022.
She has also appeared on Legacy and recently launched her own clothing line, Grey Creations.
'Boer Soek 'n Vrou': Free State farmers rules the roost
Following the same format as before, the latest edition of Boer Soek 'n Vrou, which has been a massive success in Mzansi since its 2007 debut, will largely focus on the five farmers who received the most entries.
This year's hopeful participants range in age from 26 to 56.
The 10 chosen farmers represent six provinces, with the Free State taking the lead with three eligible bachelors in the running.

Reandi teased that, with a new director on board, fans should expect some surprises along the way.
'All the farmers who have enrolled are also people I will want to keep close to me for the rest of my life,' she added.
'They are exceptional salt-of-the-earth people who deserve love – and I feel honoured to be part of it.
'It's a role I wish for anyone in their life, because being part of a love story – whether it is that of someone else or your own – is very special and necessary.'

The 17th season of Boer Soek 'n Vrou boasts a fresh face behind the scenes with Ferdinand van Zyl in the director's chair and Diepe Waters actress Reandi Grey as presenter of kykNET's popular matchmaking show. The bubbly blonde actress who rose to soapie stardom as Esti Fouche in 7de Laan, will join 10 farmers on their journey to find love in the arms of a starry-eyed city girl. when the brand new season of Boer Soek 'n Vrou kicks off tomorrow evening [Thursday, 7 August]. During a recent interview, Reandi indicated that the latest edition of the hit show features exciting new formats and some surprises along the way. 'Don't come in with preconceived ideas, because many expectations will be turned on their heads!' Pictures: Supplied Did you enjoy your role as on-screen Cupid in 'Boer Soek 'n Vrou'? REANDI: 'Absolutely. It's so exciting to be part of a story – to witness connections forming, and sometimes even spotting them before the farmer and their matches do.' 'I can't wait for viewers to meet the new farmers. Watching how the farmers change from the beginning to the end, and everything they go through, was incredibly special.' Of course, helping 10 farmers means covering thousands of kilometres across the country. How did you manage this physically demanding aspect of the programme? REANDI: 'I was extremely lucky to have a makeup artist who became my best friend during filming. We didn't know each other before the show, but we became very close. Picture: Supplied 'We had so much fun – from playing quiz games on our phones to competing in trivia battles. We also all love music, so there was always something playing. And yes, we slept – a lot!' What about the perfect outfit for each segment…and GreyC? REANDI: 'I had 57 outfits – plus 10 backups!' she reveals. 'It was both stressful and exciting. I designed and made all my outfits myself under my clothing brand, GreyC, which took a lot of time.' And then there was the challenge of getting them approved… 'Elmarie [Botha, the producer of Boer Soek 'n Vrou] and I had to find the sweet spot between the Boer brand and GreyC. 'Eventually, we had fun with it. I learnt that if Elmarie said a firm 'no', I still had a little room to negotiate. But if she said 'just no', then that was the end of it.' REANDI: 'It was a massive privilege to work with South Africa's farmers. They're built from something different – their honesty, resilience, and character are incredibly moving. Farmers understand that success takes time and that what you sow, you will reap – in both land and life. 'They give not only to themselves but to their communities, their families, and the future of South Africa. Their faith and reliance on their support networks – God and their families – is inspiring. 'They don't just feed us; they show us what it means to live with dignity and integrity. Say what you will, farmers are the heartbeat of our nation. They are our heroes!' Heidi is around five, and Lente is just under two. Her husband, Dewald, had to manage solo for almost 10 weeks. 'That was hands down the hardest part – being away from my husband and children. I quickly realised that the focus had to be on quality, not quantity, of time. 'So when I was home, I had to be as intentional and present as possible to make up for the times I was away. 'My advice to working moms is: don't be afraid to ask for help. It does take a village. Let go of the guilt – you're doing enough. You are enough. Working moms show resilience, ambition, and balance – even when it doesn't feel like it. You're doing great, mama!'

‘My f*k, Marelize!' the movie coming to a cinema near you – What to know [Video]
Epic release: 'My f*k, Marelize! is a movie for anyone who understands that 'family dynamics can also be family dynamite'. Six years ago, a video clip taken by a mother of her daughter crashing her bicycle into a rugby goalpost skyrocketed around the globe, with the words 'My f*k, Marelize' becoming part of the nation's 'vocabulary'. Marelize Horn's cycling misadventure has, however, evolved from a simple viral video into a fully-fledged feature film set to debut at the Silwerskermfees taking place from 20 to 23 August in Cape Town. Following its debut at kykNET's annual film festival, My f*k, Marelize! will open at movie cinemas nationwide in South Africa and Namibia on 26 and 29 August, respectively. 'My f*k, Marelize!': More than a viral video My f*k, Marelize! tells the story of Heidi, a strong-willed woman hiding her cancer from her family. Marelize, her accident-prone daughter, needs to learn how to ride a bike to become an au pair in the Netherlands. How hard can that be? Zandélle Meyer is Marelize with Je-ani Swiegelaar and Neels Claasen playing the roles of her parents, Heidi and Tiaan. Nichola Viviers is Marelize's younger sister, Wilmari. WATCH: 'My f*k, Marelize!' trailer 'It still doesn't feel real' 'Never in our wildest dreams,' commented Marelize about the fact that the video clip, which turned her and her mother into an internet sensation, is now a feature film. 'Mom shared the video with my sister and the family, and we thought that would be the end of it. But almost overnight it touched so many people.' 'It was shared to Facebook and YouTube by other people, which just showed how many people wanted to be part of this moment. It still doesn't feel real. How many people can say something like this has happened to them?' Journey with cancer Behind this viral clip, which had the country in stitches, is a family with a deeply human story. Marelize explained that the film is important to her mother, Heidi because of her journey with cancer. 'Her story is not an easy one. She fought hard and wanted to see the light at the end of the tunnel. That is the most important part of this film. We want people to know that God is the answer. 'We would never have been able to walk this path on our own. People must realise that you are never alone; [it] doesn't matter how tough the world out there is.' 'Life has thrown us a couple of curveballs, and these words are so true when it comes to our family,' said Marelize. 'This movie is about my mother. She has the opportunity to tell her story and help others who need it.' The story at the heart of the film is actually so small, but it throws a huge punch. In short: It is a story about life.' 'A film they would be proud of' Coetzer and Brett Michael Innes, the screenwriter of My f*k, Marelize! and known for the feature films Sink (2015) and Fiela se Kind (2019), went to visit the Horns in Windhoek on numerous occasions. 'They opened their home and their hearts to us, and it later felt as if we were visiting family. I wanted to make a film that they would be proud of,' said Coetzer. 'The Horns made me again realise how important family relationships are and how fortunate you are to have a family you can call your own. That is what I wanted to capture in this film. 'My hope is that when people have watched the film, they would reach out to their family members for a get-together.'
