It's the moment Prime members have been waiting for: Amazon officially announced that it's hosting Prime Day 2025 this July. The exclusive sale is back for its eleventh year, and while we don't know the exact dates yet, one thing is for sure: Prime Day will offer some of the best deals of the season on products across categories like tech, beauty, wellness, home and kitchen. You won't want to miss this massive, multi-day sale, especially if tariffs impact your budget.
I've been covering Prime Day for NBC Select since 2020, so I'm well-versed in every aspect of the sale. I'll continue updating you as I learn more about what to expect — below is all the information we have so far.

When is Prime Day 2025?
Prime Day 2025 is happening this July. Amazon has not announced the exact dates yet. Typically, the sale is after the 4th of July and is multiple days long.
Do you need to be a Prime member to shop on Prime Day?
Yes, only Prime members get access to Prime Day deals. You can sign up for a Prime membership on Amazon's website or app. New members get a 30-day free trial — Amazon automatically charges you for your Prime membership once the free trial period ends.
Can you shop early Prime Day deals?
Yes, Prime members can shop for early deals as the event approaches. The best way to stay updated about early Prime Day deals is to download the Amazon app, which can notify you about sales in real-time.
What are the best deals to shop on Prime Day?
Products across all shopping categories are on sale during Prime Day, but shoppers won't know exactly what's available until the event starts. The best deals tend to be on Amazon-owned technology like Echo, Fire, Blink and Ring devices, small home and kitchen appliances, beauty products, apparel and back-to-school supplies. You'll also be able to shop Amazon's Lightning Deals, flash sales that give shoppers a short window to purchase limited quantities of specific products.
Looking at Prime Day bestsellers from previous years can give you a sense of the traditionally discounted items. Here are a few items I recommend keeping a close eye on — they were all NBC Select readers' favorite deals during Prime Day 2024.
What is Amazon Prime?
Amazon Prime is the retailer's loyalty program. A standard membership costs $139 a year or $14.99 a month, and new members get a 30-day free trial. Amazon also offers two types of discounted accounts: Prime for Young Adults, which is $7.49 a month for those 18 to 24 years old, and Prime Access, which is $6.99 a month for those who qualify for certain government assistance programs.
Benefits of a Prime membership include access to shop Prime Day deals and free, fast shipping, like free two-day, one-day and same-day delivery. Prime members also get a handful of streaming and entertainment perks, plus they can order groceries online through Whole Foods or Amazon Fresh and sign up for a free Grubhub+ membership.
Is Prime Day twice a year?
Since 2022, Amazon has hosted two Prime Day-level events: Amazon Prime Day in July and Prime Big Deal Days in October. So far, the retailer has only confirmed this summer's Prime Day. We likely won't find out if it's hosting Prime Big Deal Days until after July's event.
What countries are participating in Prime Day?
Over 20 countries are participating in Prime Day 2025, including Ireland for the first time. Prime members in the following countries will be able to shop: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Egypt, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Mexico, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, the United States and the United Kingdom.

Lidl is selling a £4 tool that will help you perfect your BBQs this summer
LIDL shoppers can get a new BBQ tool for just £4 that will help you cook your chicken perfectly. The Grillmeister Barbecue Chicken Roaster is landing in Lidl stores this Thursday as a middle aisle buy. That means you'll need to act fast to snap it up as once it's gone, it's gone. The BBQ tool costs just £3.99 and Lidl says it will help you get "perfectly cooked chicken" that's crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The accessory is made from stainless steel and is suitable for ovens and BBQs with lids. It comes with a container for seasoning liquids as the chicken is flavoured during the barbecuing process. The tool is also suitable for other types of poultry. In comparison, Amazon has a chicken barbeque rack for a more expensive £6.99 while the Big Green Egg charges £20. The Lidl deal comes just as the weather finally starts to heat up again. A heatwave could hit parts of the UK this week as temperatures soar to highs of 29C, the Met Office has said. The warm air is set to push temperatures as high as 29C by Friday. More BBQ items will also be dropping in the Middle of Lidl this Thursday. 40 Day Health Challenger shares healthy weekly Lidl shop If you're in need of the BBQ itself, you can pick up the Grillmeister Ceramic Barbecue for £79.99. Alternatively if you'd rather cook pizzas in the garden you can get the Grillmeister Gas Pizza Oven for the same price. There are also plenty of accessories, including the Grillmeister Cast Iron Grill Pan or the Cast Iron Griddle for £14.99 each. Burger fans can get the Burger Press for £3.99 or the Burger Cloche for the same price. Or they can get a three-piece Burger Kit for £6.99 which includes a burger press, turner and burger bell for cooking in a gratin style. Again if pizza is more your thing, you can get a Pizza Cutter for £6.99 or a Pizza Peel Paddle for the same price. There is also a 12-piece set of BBQ utensils including a knife, fork, spatula, tongs, skewers and corn skewers for £19.99. Government advice on BBQ safety The UK Government have issued some guidelines for staying safe whilst using a barbecue: Keep a bucket of water, sand or a garden hose nearby for emergencies. Follow the safety instructions provided with your gas, charcoal, or disposable barbecue. Never use a barbecue indoors, in a tent, under an awning or in a caravan. Use enough charcoal to cover the base of the barbecue, but not more (normally around 5cms or 2 inches). Keep children, pets and garden games away from the cooking area. After cooking, make sure the barbecue is cool before moving it. Empty ashes onto bare garden soil, not into dustbins or wheelie bins. If they're hot, they can melt the plastic and cause a fire. Make sure your barbecue is well away from sheds, fences, trees, shrubs or garden waste. In the countryside or public park areas, only use disposable barbecues where there are specially designated areas and carefully follow the safety guidance. Enjoy yourself, but don't drink too much alcohol if you are in charge of the barbecue. Never use petrol or paraffin to start or revive your barbecue; use only recognised lighters or starter fuels on cold coals.

The best screen protectors to safeguard against cracks, drops and scratches, according to experts
I consider myself very kind to my gadgets — I take good care of them and don't needlessly throw them around or put them somewhere they'll get banged up. But even I drop my phone a couple of times a week. Every time I do, I worry I'll pick up my phone and find my screen cracked or scratched. But with my phone case and screen protector, I haven't had that happen in over a decade. Almost everyone on team NBC Select uses a phone case and screen protector — it's a simple tool that brings peace of mind and extra protection for our pricey gadgets. We spoke with tech repair experts to better understand the difference between screen protectors, and got their recommendations on the best ones to shop for. How we picked the best screen protectors We spoke with tech repair experts to better understand how screen protectors work and the differences between models. Combining their advice with our experience, we kept the following in mind when choosing our top picks: Material: We largely included screen protectors made from tempered glass, which has excellent scratch and fall resistance, according to our experts. Size availability: A screen protector is only useful if it fits over the entirety of your phone screen. Every screen protector we recommend is available in various sizes specific to individual phone models. Price: We selected products across a range of prices, ranging from less than $10 to $60. The best screen protectors of 2025 Our recommendations come directly from our experts or NBC Select staff, and are largely products with thousands of positive customer reviews online. Best overall Our experts recommend Spigen as a great brand for most people. Arthur Zilberman, president of laptop repair company Laptop MD, says this model is case-friendly, affordable and durable. It's also easy to install — it comes with an alignment tray that you place on top of your phone screen and press down on to secure the protector in place. You get two screen protectors with each purchase, in case you ever need to replace the first one. This screen protector is available for iPhone (linked above), Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel devices. Mac Frederick, the owner of Phone Repair Philly, recommends Zagg because it is a great value for the quality you get. The XTR4 version is the brand's strongest model, made with tempered glass that's reinforced with graphene, making it much stronger, according to the brand. It comes with an installation tray that helps align your phone and avoid air bubbles as you apply it. NBC Select commerce editor Lindsay Schneider has used a Zagg screen protector for years, and her phone is still in great condition. This screen protector is available for iPhone (linked above) and Samsung Galaxy devices, among others. For affordable durability, Frederick recommends Supershieldz tempered glass screen protectors. This one is a three pack of tempered glass screen protectors, each with rounded edges and a fingerprint-resistant coating, according to the brand. Supershieldz's tempered glass screen protectors are available for devices from Apple, Samsung, Google and LG. Another budget option Zilberman recommends Ailun as a budget screen protector brand. Similar to Supershieldz, this three-pack of screen protectors has a fingerprint-resistant coating, but it also comes with an installation frame in the box that should make applying the protectors easier. Ailun screen protectors are available for iPhone (linked above), Samsung and Google devices. This screen protector makes it harder for onlookers to see what is on your screen — it looks totally dark if you look at it from the sides. NBC Select updates editor Mili Godio has used it for years, and uses it to tackle work emails in crowded airports and on the subway without worry. It also offers great protection against the various hardwood and tiled floors Godio has dropped it on. As with any privacy protector, your screen's colors and brightness will be a bit faded compared to using a regular screen protector. Godio has it on her iPhone 14 Pro, but you can get it for other iPhone, Google and Samsung devices too. NBC Select associate SEO reporter Ashley Morris and NBC Select reporter Zoe Malin both use this screen protector — Malin for her iPhone 15 Pro and Morris for her iPhone 12. Morris has been using Otterbox's Premium Blue Light protectors for years and finds them very durable and easy to install. As someone who drops their phone a lot (as in multiple times a day), her protectors tend to get a bit banged up over time, so she also loves that Otterbox's warranty program lets her replace the protector for free (excluding shipping). How to shop for screen protectors When shopping for a screen protector, we recommend looking at features like material, comfort and ease of installation. Zilberman says that while you can get plenty of high-quality protectors at an affordable price, he doesn't recommend sacrificing performance for a cheaper option. Material: Screen protectors come in a variety of materials. There are plastics like polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU), as well as tempered glass (with some even boasting chemically strengthened, shatterproof glass, like Corning's Gorilla Glass protectors). Our experts agree that a quality tempered glass protector will be more effective at protecting your display than plastic protectors. Tempered glass is a stronger material because it can absorb the impact if your phone falls, in our experience — Godio has had her tempered glass case for over a year and dropped her phone countless times without a scratch. Comfort and feel: We touch our phone screens to use them, so the feel and responsiveness of a screen protector is important. Screen protectors can sometimes change a phone's touchscreen sensitivity — certain smartphone models ask you to input whether or not you're using a screen protector on the device to better calibrate sensitivity, says Zilberman. Tempered glass is designed to have a smoother feel than other screen protectors and won't affect touchscreen sensitivity much, according to experts. Display: Tempered glass mimics the original display and offers good clarity, whereas plastic screen protectors can create an unsightly glare and affect screen quality by adding a 'murkier and grayer hue to your screen,' says Zilberman. Both plastic and tempered glass protectors can have privacy and anti-glare filters to fit your preferences. However, tempered glass protectors are more physically noticeable on your screen since they're thicker — a plastic protector blends in remarkably well with the original display, according to our experts. Ease of installation: Installing a screen protector can be difficult, especially when there's a chance of misaligning the protector or having annoying air bubbles and specks of dust lodged underneath the film. Most screen protectors include a plastic installation tray that can go directly over your phone screen to align the protector or one that holds your phone while you guide the screen on. Some protectors will come with 'guide stickers' showing where the screen protector will lie on your screen. Compatibility: According to Frederick, there isn't much variation in how well a screen protector works from one smartphone brand to another. However, screen protectors come in different shapes and sizes depending on your phone, so it's always good to check its compatibility. When is Amazon Prime Day 2025 and what will the best deals be?
The Amazon Prime Day sale is nearly here. In previous years, it has taken place on a Tuesday and Wednesday in the middle of July, which would suggest that Prime Day 2025 will be on July 8-9, July 15-16 or possibly July 22-23. We will know very soon. This could be a good time to make your next big purchase. The best Amazon Prime Day deals are invariably on Amazon's own products such as Echo Dot speakers, Kindle e-Readers, Fire TVs and Ring video doorbells. But past years have also seen considerable discounts on electric toothbrushes, clothes steamers and some of the most sought-after headphones, including Apple Airpods. Below, you can read our predictions for the best deals to expect on Amazon Prime Day this year, based on previous sales events. Many of our top-rated products are discounted in these events. First though, here are the answers to some common questions. When is Amazon Prime Day 2025 in the UK? It will be in the middle of July, starting at midnight on a Tuesday and lasting for 48 hours. We expect Amazon to reveal the exact date very soon. Do I need to be an Amazon Prime member to get Prime Day deals in the UK? Yes, only subscribers to Amazon Prime will get the Prime Day discounts. Happily, that includes free trial members, who can benefit from 30 days' Prime membership before having to pay the standard £8.99 a month or £95 a year. Prime for students is half the price and free for the first six months. You have to prove you are enrolled on a course. With an Amazon Prime subscription you get unlimited premium delivery and access to Prime Video, Prime Music, Prime Reading and other benefits including lightning deals. The first is in mid-July and the second, sometimes called Prime Big Deals Day, is in mid-October. How can I find the best deals? The best way is to bookmark this page, which is constantly updated with the best genuine deals. If you know what you want to buy, you could make a wish list on Amazon or at a site such as Pricerunner which can alert you when prices drop. Read my guide to finding the best deals for more tips. Are Prime Day deals genuinely good value? Prices are inflated beforehand in many cases, so it's important to check using a pricetracker such as CamelCamelCamel or Keepa. Claimed discounts of 50 per cent or more are usually not what they seem: the actual discount is often less than five per cent. Anything over 10 per cent off the real average price is genuinely good value. Can I return items I buy on Amazon Prime Day? Yes, items bought on Prime Day have the same returns policy as on any other day of the year. Amazon allows returns within 30 days of receipt if the goods are in an unused and undamaged condition, with a few exceptions. Some people think they can buy a discounted item on Prime Day and return it for a refund after the price has gone back up, making a profit. This doesn't work. You will only be refunded what you paid. In March's sale it dropped to £55, which is £25 less than usual. The Fire HD 8 doesn't have the most high-end spec, but this tablet was still good enough to score 7/10 in our recent review. It's lightweight, has decent battery life, and helps keep you connected with your chosen streaming, social media and communication apps, and was named the best budget tablet in our best tablets roundup. 2. Amazon Fire TV Stick HD (newest gen) Current price: £39.99 Average price over last six months: £37 Price in the March Amazon Spring Sale: £24.99 Amazon's latest basic streamer This is the newest version of Amazon's streaming stick for non-4K TVs, and has key services such as Netflix, Prime Video, BBC iPlayer and Disney Plus streaming in an aesthetically updated package. In our review of the Fire Stick HD, the device's exceptional voice commands, setup process and streaming services contributed to an impressive overall score of 8/10. Usually, one of these smart little sticks would set you back about £37 but you could pick one up for £25 in the Spring Deals sale. We expect to see similar discounts for Prime Day. 3. Apple iPad mini (A17 Pro) Current price: £469 Average price over last six months: £448 Price in the March 2025 Amazon Spring Sale: £429 Best compact tablet Apple's devices don't often see discounts so when one appears, even just a small one, it's worth considering. The iPad mini (A17 Pro) is the latest compact tablet from Apple, usually sold for about £450. It dropped to £430 in Amazon's last sale event. We picked it as the best tablet for everyday use in our guide to the best tablets. In her iPad mini (A17 Pro) review, Britta O'Boyle said: 'There's a lovely, lightweight design, a bright and vibrant display and swish performance. The iPad mini (A17 Pro) is a superb compact tablet that's perfect for everyday use and very portable.' 4. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 Current price: £1,048.95 Average price over last six months: £980 Price in the March 2025 Amazon Spring Sale: £849 Best folding phone The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 was reduced to £849 in the March sale, which was a saving of 16 per cent on the usual price. We saw the same discount in last November's Black Friday sales. It's our top pick for the best folding phone in our best smartphones guide, offering fast performance and an improved battery life. Reviewer Rob Waugh said: 'Samsung finally hit the sweet spot for folding phones with the Z Flip 5, after almost a decade of showing off foldable screens at tech shows followed by four generations of handsets, and the new Flip 6 builds on the considerable strengths of its predecessor.' He mentions cost as a drawback, but with this deal, it's certainly less of one. The Amazon Fire HD 8 Kids is our overall top pick of the best tablets for kids. It's already reduced but in the March sale the price dropped to its lowest ever at £69.99, compared to the usual £114. It has a great battery life and the price includes a two-year, worry-free guarantee where Amazon will replace it if it breaks. Reviewer Britta O'Boyle described the parental controls on the device as excellent, as the Amazon parent dashboard enables you to ensure children can only access age-appropriate content. She also said the dashboard lets you monitor screen time, approve app requests and block websites remotely from your phone, and she praised the included robust case with its built-in stand too. Amazon's entry-level Kindle dropped from £95 to £80 for Black Friday and again in the March sale. A similar hefty discount for Prime Day looks very likely. The Amazon Kindle delivers a superb reading experience, with access to an expansive library of e-books. It offers an incredibly portable design too, allowing you to catch up on your latest read whether you're on a sun lounger or squashed onto a packed tube. Reviewer Alan Martin said: 'While the costlier Paperwhite tops our list of the best Kindles, the Kindle 2024 offers 90 per cent of the features and that will be sufficient for most readers.' Awarded Best Buy in our guide to the best noise-cancelling headphones, the Sony WH1000XM4 dropped to £178 in the March sale and in the past have been available for as little as £175, a good price for such an excellent pair of cans. They are not the brand's newest headphones. The current M6 version has additional noise-cancelling features, but these still have over 30 hours of battery with noise-cancelling turned on and they deliver a superb mix of performance and price. Reviewer Rob Waugh said: 'In the under-£200 bracket, these are undisputed sound quality champions, with breathtakingly realistic music where the vocals sound like you're in the room with the person.' Our favourite smart alarm clock, the Echo Spot dropped to £55 in the March sale and has been known to drop to £45. Perfect for a bedside table, the Echo Spot has a display to show you the time and other important information, like the weather. It also has built-in Alexa, allowing you to perform various functions from controlling your smart home devices to playing your favourite music or podcasts, and the design is small and compact so it doesn't attract too much unwanted attention. In our Echo Spot review, Alan Martin said it was a 'charming little smart speaker' with the 'sound quality good enough for the bedroom and Alexa a helpful assistant'. Ahead of the sale, Amazon has already dropped the price of its own Fire TV by about £30 but you might be advised to hold off until Prime Day before buying. What do we think of the Amazon Fire TV? In our round-up of the best 4K TVs our television expert, Chris Hall, called it the best smart 4K TV, with its Alexa voice assistant integration and breadth of apps. Screen quality is superb for the price, too, with the TV adapting to the light levels in your room and tweaking the picture accordingly. If you're looking to improve your home security you can do a lot worse than the Ring Video Doorbell Pro. Loaded to the hilt with useful features, the Video Doorbell Pro is the only Ring camera with head-to-toe imaging, ideal for identifying packages left on your doorstep. It's currently more expensive than usual, so wait for the (probable) hefty Prime Day discount before buying. In our review of the best video doorbells, our reviewer Kulwinder Rai found that the fisheye camera offered plenty of detail and was particularly impressed with the Colour Night Vision, allowing him to identify nearby car number plates even in low light. Prime Day could be a smart time to pick up a previous-generation flagship smartphone for less. Samsung's Galaxy S24 has since been replaced by the Galazy S25 Ultra, but the differences were not huge. If you can pick last year's model up for the £660 we saw in the March sale, you will save a fortune. You get the same set of Galaxy AI tricks, including the ability to remove unwanted objects from the background of your pictures with just a tap and instant translations during calls. The display is immaculate, too, with true-to-life colour accuracy and a high level of brightness. Apple's top-of-the-range iPhone is already back down to its Spring Sale price. At just five per cent off, this doesn't meet our usual 10 per cent threshold, but keep an eye out: there's a small chance it could dip further on Prime Day. Even if not, a £25 discount is better than none. The iPhone 16 is undoubtedly expensive, but worth the outlay. Hoover HL5 Current price: £269 Average price over last six months: £225 Price in the March 2025 Amazon Spring Sale: £149 Best lift-away vacuum for pet hair As any pet owner knows, it takes a special kind of vacuum cleaner to gracefully gather animal hairs, especially if you have a long-haired cat or dog. One of the best you can get is the Hoover HL5 Pets, which we consider one of the top vacuum cleaners for pet hair, earning a score of 9/10 during our hands-on testing. We regard this model as the best lift-away vacuum cleaner for pet hair, thanks especially to its impressive suction. The cleaner's HEPA 13 filter will help prep a feline-owning home for visitors who are allergic to cats, too. It was discounted by over £75 in Amazon's spring sale, so should be worth keeping a very close eye on. 14. GTech AirRAM MK2 K9 Current price: £260 Average price over last six months: £238 Price in the March 2025 Amazon Spring Sale: £183.99 Best pet vacuum cleaner for older users The GTech AirRAM dropped to £184 in the March sale, its lowest price ever. It's our top pick for older users in our best pet vacuum cleaners guide thanks to its lightweight build and ease of use. When Simon Lewis reviewed it, he said: 'Although the AirRAM K9 is far less powerful than the other vacuums we tried, the suction is actually pretty great. The large, rectangular head leaves clear, broad stripes where it's been, like a proper floor cleaner should.' 15. Philips 5000 Series 9L NA555/09 Dual Basket Steam Air Fryer Current price: £249.99 Average price over last six months: £211 Price in the March 2025 Amazon Spring Sale: £169.99 Best dual air fryer for steaming The Philips 5000 Series 9L NA555/09 Dual Basket Steam Air Fryer dipped to a record low £169.99 in the March sale, which is a saving of £40 on the average price. When we reviewed it for our best air fryer guide, we loved the steam function and the option to cook both frozen and fresh fries. Reviewer Rebecca Shepherd said the Philips 5000 Series air fried food brilliantly and 'each test resulted in dishes that were golden brown, deliciously crisp and nowhere near dry'.
